Official Synopsis For Joe Dante's 'Bat Out of Hell'

7 September 2008 9:26 AM, PDT

This weekend at the Toronto International Film Festival we scored a look at the full official synopsis for Joe Dante's Bat Out Of Hell, which was previously announced here. As a red eye flight from Los Angeles to New York takes off, everything seems to be normal. That is until the co-pilot kills the pilot and a rouge group of coach passengers head into first class armed and ready to kill. Their claim - there are 9 passengers in the front of the plane who must die tonight. They are vampires, and our "heroes" will crash the plane if they have to in order to ensure what must be done is done. Not willing to die without fighting, the vampires unleash their fury in a battle of strength and wits six miles high, and all before the sun rises on an unknowing New York City.

7 September 2008 9:05 AM, PDT

Last night Deadgirl played the "Midnight Madness" portion of the Toronto International Film Festival where the 1200 seat crowd witnessed the world premiere of Marcel Sarmiento and Gadi Harel's film, which ended in heavy applause. At the Q+A for the coming-of-age horror film, Sarmiento told the audience that he intends to one day release a director's cut of the film, which could feature more "intense" fun. We chatted with the directors earlier that night who told us that over 20 minutes were trimmed from the original cut, which could one day see the light of day via DVD or Blu-ray. They also joked that we might get to see some audition tapes as an extra feature. The film is still looking for distribution.

'My Bloody Valentine' in Mind-Blowing 3-D?

5 September 2008 11:56 PM, PDT

Ever since Lionsgate announced that their remake of My Bloody Valentine would be in 3-D I have been nothing but skeptical. But since then, I have heard loads of buzz from people who have seen dailies and 3-D tests who have all said that it looks tremendous. In fact, the new 3-D adds depth instead of just popping out at the audience, which I'm quite interested in seeing. Today a new interview with star Jamie King was posted where she talks about how Lionsgate will bring us Into the remake, which was helmed by Patrick Lussier. Those expecting to see just a straight-forward remake are in for a treat, as this version will not only be a 3D film, but also be shot in 4K a new version of HD filming thats taking movie-watching to a whole new level...

A Brief 'Ghostbusters 3' Update From Dan Ackroyd

4 September 2008 1:25 PM, PDT

The long gestured Ghostbusters 3 is quickly becoming one of the most aggravating projects to follow on the Hollywood block. With franchises seemingly being the only real force in Tinseltown, it's shocking to me that the third film isn't already in production, or at least in heated talks. Rumors hit the web this summer at Comic Con - and then were squashed - that Apatow and Rogen would be joining the project, and there have still been rumblings about this Hellbent CGI direct-to-disc release, but nothing has ever been officially announced. Today a blurb from "real" Ghostbuster Dan Ackroyd hit the web that carries a small glimpse of hope. Read on, watch, then speculate with the best of us...

We screened a preview of the first ten minutes at the Frightfest Festival here in London last week. Its the big U.K. horror festival, and thousands of fans come from all over the U.K., the U.S. and Europe."
