Bet Has Highest Viewership Ever In 2009

Cable network Bet will be celebrating more than just the new year. With the debut of shows like "The Mo'nique Show" and "Monica: Still Standing," it had its highest viewership ever in the 29-year history of the network.

With an average of 512,000 viewers, Bet enjoyed double-digit increases in all key demographics for all four quarters throughout the year. The increases are in large part due to new original programming, big specials, and showing major films and television shows.

The "2009 Bet Awards" was the #1 awards show on cable and the number one program among blacks in cable television history, drawing more than 10.7 million total viewers. The "Bet Hip-Hop Awards" became the #1 hip-hop telecast in Bet history, and the "Centric Presents: 2009 Soul Train Awards" was the #1 fourth quarter telecast in the network's history.

Lindsay Lohan Expands 6126 Leggings Brand To Full Clothing Line

With the success of Lindsay Lohan's 6126 leggings line and her not-so-successful stint as artistic advisor for Emanuel Ungaro, Lohan confirmed that she'll be expanding her collection to include a full line of pieces.

The collection, which currently only includes hosiery, is planning to include everything from mini-dresses to a leather jacket. "i need More followers i am so sad about this," Lohan said on Twitter."how can i tell everyone about my 6126 full collection Coming Out! all clothing."

Upcoming "Lord Of The Rings" Prequel Accepting Extra Applications

There's help needed in the shire. Peter Jackson has put out word that he is accepting applications for extras for the upcoming "Lord of the Rings" prequel, "The Hobbit."

While a working-visa for Middle Earth won't be necessary, it helps to be a New Zealand resident. By law, local people must be hired first and will get priority over other applicants.

The application must also be sent by physical mail. It must include a casting video, a headshot, and a full-body shot which includes a profile. Extras must also be available for the entire shoot. James McAvoy To Play James Bond Author In Planned Biopic

"Wanted" star James McAvoy is reportedly starring as Ian Fleming, the creator of James Bond, in a rumored biopic. The 30-year-old Scottish actor is reported to bring the British author back to life in the film based on the book by Andrew Lycett.

According to Pajiba.com, the film, which is independently financed at million, will be based on the Lycett biography "Ian Fleming: The Man Behind James Bond."

McAvoy is said to be playing the lead character, who had been an aimless playboy before his experiences in World War 2 changed his life and got inspired to write the adventures of the fictional spy.

Oxygen Rejoice Their Most Watched Year Ever In 2009

The Oxygen channel is celebrating their most watched year with increases in viewers from all demographics. Oxygen launched its new highly successful dance/weight loss competition "Dance Your Ass Off" and has expanded their digital viewers by triple.

Oxygen's overall total viewers are up by 8% from 2008 and it is the sixth year of continual growth for the network according to Nielsen Media Research. This year has been highly successful for Oxygen, their hit TV Show "Dance Your Ass Off" has been the network's most watched series premiere and the most watched freshmen show in the network's history. Other shows that experienced high viewing numbers this year are "Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood" and "Bad Girls Club".

New British "Celebrity Big Brother" House Unveiled

The new "Celebrity Big Brother" house was unveiled on Tuesday to reveal a gothic décor theme. The producers have decided on the theme based on "Dante's Inferno" and the philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre's notion that "Hell is other people".

The house has been redesigned to include a large living area that has been decorated with fur rugs, gilded panels and ornate lamps. The cushions have been emblazoned with diamante skulls and the kitchen has been painted "autopsy green".

"Hopefully we've made it more moody and atmospheric," said Channel 4's David Williams. "It's the final one so we've wanted to do things we've maybe thought about doing over the years. I think we've pulled out all the stops and had some fun with it." Williams also confirmed that a portion of the profits from the show will go to the Comic Relief Charity.

Roman Polanski Suing Paparazzi For Privacy Invasion

Roman Polanski has launched a .1 million suit against the paparazzi for apparently invading his privacy while he is confined in his Swiss chalet.

The filmmaker, 76, is currently on house arrest in Switzerland awaiting possible deportation to the U.S. for his over three-decade charge of having unlawful sex with a minor.

His lawyers filed a suit in Paris, claiming his family has been harassed by the photographers in their Alpine chalet.

According to the Academy Award-winning director's legal team, he still has a right to privacy, especially since he is staying with his wife and their children.

Jersey Shore Separates Itself From MTV's "Jersey Shore"

Just so everyone knows, the Jersey Shore isn't affiliated with its namesake MTV reality show. The Borough of Seaside Heights, New Jersey is distancing itself from the self-proclaimed guidos and guidettes of the controversial series.

The town, where the "Real World"-style show is being filmed, says that the behavior portrayed in the show does not reflect the majority of its residents or visitors.

A statement released by borough administrator John Camera reads, "The governing body wants it to be known that they did not solicit, promote or participate in the filming of this show."

"The production company that filmed the show did obtain a shoot permit to film in Seaside Heights, but these permits must be issued as it is a first amendment right to film in public places. Furthermore, the Borough does not condone any discriminatory remarks against Italian Americans, domestic violence or the promiscuous and otherwise bad behavior portrayed on the show. »

"Poltergeist" Actress Zelda Rubinstein Taken Off Of Life Support

Actress Zelda Rubinstein, who is best known for playing the psychic in the 1982 horror film "Poltergeist," has been taken off of life support.

The petite actress has reportedly only a short time to live after two of her major organs failed.

According to RadarOnline.com, she has been at the Cedars Sinai hospital in Los Angeles for over a month.

A friend of the actress told the website that her lungs and kidneys have failed and she was "in and out of consciousness" before it was decided to officially to take her off of life support.

Kim Kardashian's tons of messages on Twitter have a reason for their existence. The reality show star is apparently paid ,000 to mention her sponsors on the micro-blogging site.

The 29-year-old socialite works with in-stream advertising company Ad.ly, which also includes Stephen Colbert, Lauren Conrad, and Dr. Drew Pinsky as clients or "publishers."

Kardashian, who currently has over 2.7 million followers, is the highest earner on the company's books and the most popular of their celebrity tweeters.

Co-founder Derek Rey told PRNewser that the buxom beauty "can command" ,000 per tweet, but she is limited to one paid tweet per day as to not alienate her followers.

Michael Lohan is fighting his ex-fiancee with the only way he knows how: with an audiotape. Lindsay Lohan's infamous dad has released an audio recording he made during a fight with Erin Muller.

"American Chopper" Features Custom-Made Bike For The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation

The burly guys at the Orange County Choppers have shown they have big hearts as well. The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation has announced that Paul Teutul Sr. and the rest of the Occ crew have built a custom wheelchair-accessible motorcycle to raise funds for the organization.

The custom-made trike bike allows those living with paraplegia the opportunity to ride a motorcycle without having to transfer from their wheelchair.

It includes a five speed, hand-controlled transmission with reverse, a built-in electric ramp that rises, and declines at the touch of a button, so that the wheelchair can easily roll into play and automatically lock in. It can travel up to 110 mph.

Teutul Sr. said, "This bike represents freedom and independence to someone living with paralysis. It provides a paralyzed individual the opportunity to partake in an activity they love doing, regardless of the chair."

Kardashian Sisters Partner With For Every Body To Produce New Dash Candles

The Kardashian sisters have signed a deal with the largest woman-owned, soy-based, candle maker in the country to produce their new Dash candle and gel spray line.

Kim, Kourtney, and Khloe coordinated with For Every Body, the Utah-based candle company founded by Becky Anderson, to design the packaging and sent of their new products.

The new relationship started with a phone call from People Magazine after Kim chose For Every Body's "Birthday Cake" as her favorite candle scent. Word reached the other party, and although the interview was never published, a new business partnership was developed.

The sisters' candle line will be eco-friendly and will be sold in Dash store, as well as in department and retail stores such as Target, Macy's and Nordstrom.

David Letterman's Alleged Extortionist Uses Tiger Woods' Mistress As Excuse

David Letterman's alleged extortionist is using Tiger Woods' "indiscretions" as his excuse. Robert Halderman's lawyer, Gerald Shargel, said that his client's charges should be dismissed on the basis of the golfer's infidelity.

According to the new papers obtained by TMZ, Shargel cited Woods' first reported mistress, Rachel Uchitel, who was said to have inked a multi-million dollar settlement in return for her silence.

Shargel said his client more or less just "offered to sell his very marketable story to David Letterman," adding that celebrity offenses have "significant fair market value" that are "routinely suppressed through private business arrangements."

He excused Halderman's behavior as "capitalist, not criminal."

Paris Hilton's Footwear Line Sued By Shoe Company

Paris Hilton is being sued by a shoe company for allegedly stealing its heart. Seattle-based Gwyneth Shoes claims the heiress' eponymous shoeline incorporated its patented design on her shoes.

Gwyneth Shoes, designed by Gwen Frempong-Boadu, said that Hilton's shoes also have a heart-shaped cushion on the insole just like theirs.

It claims it filed to patent the heart pad back in 2007, months before Hilton's Paris Hilton Footwear launched in early 2008, according to the documents filed in Seattle last week and obtained by TMZ.

Gwyneth wants all profits that Hilton earned from the alleged stolen patented idea for trademark and patent infringement.

Daughter Accuses Blackstreet's Teddy Riley Of Physical Abuse

Blackstreet singer Teddy Riley is being accused of hitting his daughters with a video game guitar. The R&B singer/songwriter's 18-year-old daughter Taja Riley was granted a temporary restraining order against him.

According to TMZ, Taja claims Teddy, 43, physically abused her and her older sister on December 23 in his Los Angeles home. Their father allegedly stomped, punched, and bashed them. He also "lifted a Rock Band guitar and threatened to kill person(s) w/ it."

Taja says she suffered several injuries in the incident, including "bashes to temple, contusion on face" and "pain in knee."

Teddy has been ordered to stay at least 100 yards away from his daughter.

"Jeff Dunham Show" Won't Return For Second Season

Jeff Dunham and his puppets won't be returning to Comedy Central for another season. "The Jeff Dunham Show" won't be renewed, the network said.

Although the show premiered to strong ratings, with 5.3 million for its series premiere, it was the highest-rated Comedy Central premiere of all time. However, with large decreases, that number dropped down to 1.3 million viewers for its finale. Dunham also scored record-high ratings for the network with his Christmas special.

But Variety reports that a Comedy Central spokesman confirmed the network won't produce a second season but will look forward to other aspects of Dunham's deal, which will include TV specials.

Dunham is currently on tour where he'll hit cities throughout the U.S. thru March before heading to Europe for more dates.

"2012" Becomes China's Highest-Grossing Movie Of All-Time

China likes their movies big and the disaster epic "2012" just became the biggest movie of all time in the region at the box-office. The movie, which stars John Cusack and Amanda Peet, just shot past this Summer's major blockbuster "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" as the highest-grossing of all-time, taking in 460 million yuan, or .3 million.

The filmed opened on November 13th and has since outgrossed previous champs like "Titanic," which was the all-time biggest for China for a decade until July when it was surpassed by the "Transformers" sequel. The highest-grossing local film, "The Founding of the Republic," has grossed million.

With the increasing number of screens in the region, box-office watchdogs are looking at the premiere of "Avatar" in China on January 4th to be the next biggest release, possibly giving James Cameron the top film once again.

"2012" has grossed over 3 million at the world-wide box-office.
