Slipknot Unveil Teaser for 'Snuff'
Mad masked metallers Slipknot posted a cryptic, ominous teaser for Snuff, the upcoming short film/music video promoting the fifth single from last year's chart-busting album All Hope is Gone. The short looks intense, creepy and even a bit giallo-like in its eerie fetishistic attention to strange details... and hey, did I just see Hellraiser veteran Ashley Laurence? Get a peek at the first haunting footage after the jump...
Directed by M. Shawn "Clown" Crahan and P.R. Brown, the La-shot video for Snuff has the potential to be pretty intense – at least if the brooding, angst-dripping track itself is any indication ("So save your breath, I will not care/I think I made it very clear... I only wish you

'Tales from the Crypt: And All Through the House?' Hell Yeah!
The holidays are a time for memories. Memories of hot drinks and cold snowy nights, memories of family and friends coming together to experience the joys of the season, and memories of those magical moments as a child when you think you hear the rustle of Santa Claus as he slips down the chimney.
Well, those are the holiday memories of normal folks. We here at FEARnet tend to remember things a little…differently. My favorite holiday memory does involve a fat man with a big white beard, however, his name is William Gaines.
William Gaines, for those of you who don't know (and shame on you), was the publisher of EC Comics, spawning such titles as Tales from the Crypt, Vault of Horror, and a

Fear Factory Gearing Up for a 'Fear Campaign'
Back in fearful force with their upcoming album Mechanize, industrial-metal giants Fear Factory are kicking off the production process on the video for the first single, Fear Campaign. Frontman Burton C. Bell has described the band's new material as more brutally realistic than their past work, suggesting that reality has finally caught up with the dystopian nightmare worlds they only fantasized about in their music before. That's a pretty heavy prospect... but heavy is how these guys roll. Find out more about the video after the jump!
According to the latest from Blabbermouth.net, Ian McFarland and Mike Pecci will be sharing directing duties on the Fear Campaign video, and McFarland recently discussed the overall

Segel's also hard at work on a script for the next Muppet movie, not expected to hit theaters until 2012. Is it just me, or are you looking forward to seeing what he'll do with Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem?

Dexter Keeps On Killing
15 December 2009 12:32 PM, PST
Season 4 of Dexter may be over, but news is still pouring out. Dexter showrunner Clyde Phillips has decided to leave the show after four award-winning years in order to spend time with his family. "I need to be part of my own life," he told The Hollywood Reporter. Seems a reasonable request, since he has spent the last four years spending nine months in Los Angeles for the show, while only have three months with his family at their home in Connecticut. Taking his place will be Chip Johannessen, whose long list of genre writing and producing credits includes Moonlight, The X-Files, Millennium, Dark Angel and The Crow: Salvation.
Meanwhile, Dexter's record-breaking season went out with a

Breck Eisner Says 'Creature' Out, 'The Brood' In
15 December 2009 11:32 AM, PST
Both the La Times and Variety report that Universal's reboot of the classic Creature from the Black Lagoon appears to be back on track. This is the first bit of info we're receiving since we heard that Breck Eisner (The Crazies) had departed leaving the production in limbo.
Both sources are telling us that Universal is in early talks with Carl Erik Rinsch to direct the Creature reboot. Rinsch is going into production on his feature debut with the samurai swordsman flick 47 Ronin next year.
The La Times goes one step further, confirming rumors that Eisner is now attached to direct a remake of the David Cronenberg flick The Brood about 'a woman who telepathically communicates with her group of mutant

Horror Gets Golden
15 December 2009 10:32 AM, PST
Awards season is on the horizon, and some FEARnet favorites are being honored at the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards. Both Dexter and True Blood have been nominated for best TV drama. Michael C. Hall nabbed a nod for the title role in Dexter, and John Lithgow seems a shoo-in for best supporting actor for his portrayal of the Trinity Killer. Down in Bon Temps, Anna Paquin got a nod for best actress in a drama series for True Blood.
Genre films are not usually lauded as much as their small-screen counterparts, but a few noms did go out: Coraline for best animated film, and Neill Blomkamp for best screenplay for District 9.
A complete list of all nominees can be found here.

15 December 2009 10:12 AM, PST
Old school heavy-beat electro team Nitzer Ebb – whose stripped-down synth bass lines, crushing beats and violent war-cry vocals brought them to prominence during the early years of Europe's electro-industrial/Ebm movement – are finally gearing up for the release of Industrial Complex, their first new studio album since Big Hit in 1995.
