John Oliver Links Anti-Vaccine Movement to Trump (Video)

John Oliver took on the anti-vaccine movement on Sunday’s “Last Week Tonight,” pinning a lot of it on President Donald Trump. The comedian began his segment by arguing that people can often forget how well vaccines work because nobody posts Facebook statuses like, “I didn’t get polio again today!” “Small groups are both skeptical and vocal about vaccines which is nothing new, but these days those voices have been amplified by the human megaphone that is the President of the United States,” said Oliver. The host then played a clip showing Trump on the campaign trail, in which the businessman expressed skepticism over. »

Morning Joe” co-host Joe Scarborough has an interesting theory about why President Trump has suddenly reversed himself in recent admissions that Russia meddled in the 2016 U.S. election and that the current Republican health care bill is “mean.” On Monday’s show, the MSNBC star credited Barack Obama’s “Jedi mind tricks.” “We got ‘Star Wars’ fans here? Anybody ‘Star Wars’ fans here?” he began. “You didn’t know exactly where Barack Obama went. ‘War for the Planet of the Apes’ Review: Simian Saga Sewn Up Satisfactorily

The legendary pacifist slogan “War is not healthy for children and other living things” finds a whole new spin with “War for the Planet of the Apes,” in which the super-intelligent apes finally take up arms against a dwindling human population that refuses to let them live in peace. There’s a lot that “War” has going for it, including some of the richest characterizations of all three “Apes” reboots, along with the next-level CG work of bringing an ape army to life with expressive, emotional faces. Like its two predecessors, it has its flaws — and each entry has had. »

An Old Minor ‘Twin Peaks’ Character May Be Very Important to the Events of Part 8

(Major spoilers ahead for Part 8 of Showtime’s “Twin Peaks” revival.) Part 8 of the “Twin Peaks” revival appears to be one of the most important episodes of the series, featuring what amounts to a lore dump about the beginning of the conflict between Bob and Laura Palmer. It all started with a bang, apparently — specifically, the U.S.’s first atomic bomb test in New Mexico in 1945. The implication is that the nuclear explosion somehow allowed the forces of the Black Lodge (the Woodsmen) and Bob into our world. This led the Giant and a woman from another astral plane. »
