Can ‘Zoo’ Save Its Endangered Audience?

It’s a jungle out there in terms of Summer TV Nielsen ratings. CBS’ “Zoo” didn’t fare well in the heat last year, when the drama dropped from a 1.6 rating among adults 18-49 to a 1.1. In terms of total viewers, the series sank from an average of 8.889 million per episode to 5.885 million. Those are declines of 31 percent and 34 percent, respectively, and they include one-week’s worth of delayed viewing. The numbers were enough to make “Zoo” the No. 2 scripted series of the summer, but let’s just say there aren’t many more than a few of those »

‘The Little Hours’ Review: Aubrey Plaza and Alison Brie Are Saucy Sisters in Convent Comedy

The Little Hours” is a hilariously irreverent romp that seems to be channeling some of the spirit of “Monty Python’s Life of Brian,” as well as the youthful feminine angst of “Heathers.” And there’s even a dash of Mel Brooks about some of the lunacy. But don’t let that fool you into thinking it’s in any way derivative. The offbeat comedy is a fresh romp about medieval nuns behaving badly — or, more specifically, acting like bratty Millennials. Based loosely on Giovanni Boccaccio’s 14th-century work “The Decameron,” the jokes are decidedly 21st century in attitude. “The Little Hours” is no one-trick. »

New York Supreme Court Justice Charles Ramos granted a motion by Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin Wednesday to dismiss him from a fraud lawsuit filed against him due to his role at Relativity Media, Ryan Kavanaugh’s troubled production company. Lender Rka Film Financing first filed the suit in 2015, claiming Relativity borrowed money the film company “falsely represented” would be used for P&A — prints, advertising and other costs related to promoting the release of its movies — and then used those funds instead to finance operations and pay executive bonuses. 2 hours ago

There’s no Lasso of Truth like box-office numbers: Wonder Woman is about to conquer Batman, Superman, Harley Quinn and all her Suicide Squad comrades. As it approaches its fifth weekend in theaters, “Wonder Woman” is set to pass its DC Extended Universe predecessors, “Batman v Superman” and “Suicide Squad,” at the domestic box-office with a $325 million total and counting.
