After Bhoomi, Sanjay Dutt Should Adopt Aditi Rao – Subhash K Jha

Starring Sanjay Dutt, Aditi Rao, Sharad Kelkar, Shekhar Suman

Directed by Omung Kumar

Rating: ****(4 stars)

“Jadd se ya dhadh se?” Sanjay Dutt plays a cruel Kbc with his daughter’s rapist, offering to either kill or castrate him.

The pleading, begging rapist takes the knife and plunges it into his pants. Ouch.

I squirmed, as I was meant to. Bhoomi, a film about a father and daughter’s revenge on her wrongdoers set in the seamier side of the city of the Taj Mahal, is not an easy film to view. Just because it stars Sanjay Dutt, don’t expect him to rise Phoenix-like to the occasion. With remarkable disregard for his larger-than-strife image, Sanjay Dutt plays an aging, caring, doting father who is a helpless mute entity in the case to fight his daughter’s violators.

The rape-revenge motif has been done so much to death I wondered why »

Haseena Parkar Survives The Curse Of A Clunky Lead – Subhash K Jha

22 September 2017 10:24 PM, PDT

Starring Shradha Kapoor, Siddhant Kapoor, Ankur Bhatia

Directed by Apoorva Lakhia

Rating: ****(4 stars)

If only Haseena Parkar didn’t suffer from the curse of a clunky, inept, shoddy central performance, it would have been a far more watchable potboiler on gangsterism. And I use the word ‘potboiler’ with all due respect. It’s not easy to make a massy masala movie out of the mayhem and murkiness of the mafia kingdom.

Rahul Dholakia’s Raees earlier this year wedded crime and kitsch. Apoorva Lakhia does it with a fair share of elan and chutzpah. Haseena Parkar is about that Dubai-based gangster who allegedly ran his nefarious business activities in Mumbai through his sister in the 1990s.

The brother and the sister had themselves a blast.

Fortuitously, Lakhia doesn’t miss Da-wood for the trees.

The carefully charted journey of Haseena Parkar secretes enough enigma, mystery, intrigue, dread, uncertainty, fear and »

“An Unostentatious But Vital Exposition On Idealism” – Subhash K Jha

21 September 2017 1:00 AM, PDT

Newton

Starring Rajkummar RaoAnjali PatilPankaj Tripathi

Directed by Amit R Masurkar

Rating: ****(4 stars)

In Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Satyakam, a film that echoes in unexpected ways in the new Rajkummar Rao experience, when Dharmendra the obstinate idealist, is asked why he stood first class second in his exams he replies, “Because the student who stood first was better than me.”

Newton Kumar exactly that idealist from Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s film grappling with the political irony of a country where a majority is too poor and illiterate to vote. Rajkummar’s Newton is the guy who will shine if not outshine the competition by the strength of his convictions.

This is one more triumphant performance for Rao who has made a  habit of conferring a brilliant narrative to every character he  plays. Really, it’s become a force of habit for this actor.

On the surface not much seems to happen in Newton. »

When Petite Shraddha Kapoor Carried The Well-Built Ankur Bhatia On Her Shoulders

20 September 2017 9:00 PM, PDT

Shraddha Kapoor, who will be next seen playing the intimidating Haseena Aapa in Apoorva Lakhia’s upcoming gangster drama ‘Haseena Parkar’, is blessed with a petite figure, but the actress surprised the film team with her strength while filming a crucial scene involving her reel husband Ankur Bhatia, who plays Ibrahim Parkar.

A source attached to the film unit revealed that while filming Ibrahim’s death sequence, Shraddha was required to carry Bhatia on her shoulders after he gets shot multiple times. Though the team suggested that Shraddha use a body double, she insisted on performing it on her own and managed to carry the tall and well-built Bhatia on her shoulders for the scene. Needless to say, the entire unit was awestruck by her.

Swiss Entertainment presents Apoorva Lakhia’s Haseena Parkar, co-produced by Sameer Antulay and Babu Tyagi and produced by Nahid Khan starring Shraddha Kapoor, Siddhanth Kapoor »

Meet Bros are back with a bang in ‘Aa Toh Sahi’ from Judwaa 2

20 September 2017 8:00 PM, PDT

Having given us record breaking hits like ‘Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan’ and ‘Main Tera Boyfriend’, Meet Bros are back with another catchy track titled ‘Aa Toh Sahi’ from Judwaa 2. The song is unlike any of their previous work and has a unique international feel to it!

This foot-tapping number sung by Meet Bros and Neha Kakkar gets Varun, Jacqueline and Taapsee grooving to their music. The video shows the confusion rising between the ladies in identifying Prem and Raja and the song surely adds the fun element to it.

Commenting further on this project, Meet Bros said “This song is very different from what we usually have worked on before. It has all the right ingredients to make it a catchy number right from the start to its end. We had a great time lending our voice for this track and we hope the audience loves it as much as we do. »

In a recent interview, Sanjay bared it all revealing details about his jail time and his upcoming film Bhoomi.

On choosing to make his comeback with Bhoomi, the actor said, “As an actor I believe in giving my 100%. Bhoomi is a socially relevant film. I believe in Beti Padao, Beti Bachao. In jail someone told me – Baba hum ek taraf, Kaali Ma, Durga Ma ki puja karte hain aur doosri taraf hum stree ke saath aisa karte hain. This is such a shocking contrast. The film has a strong message at the same time Omung Kumar did not want to make the film a docu-drama.”
