The Walking Dead: Here's Why Michonne Doesn't Go to Fight Negan

It's a merciful moment indeed when The Walking Dead's season eight premiere episode finally gives us a glimpse of Michonne in all her badass glory because, for a minute there, those teary-eyed shots of Rick looming over a dirt grave start to look a little ominous about our samurai-sword-slinger's fate. After all, she's definitely been stung during that skirmish with the Saviors, so it could happen. But lo, she is indeed alive, and she even features prominently in Rick's flash-ahead visions (dreams?) about a brighter future for his family, so Phew. On the other hand, she's not exactly as well as usual right about now. Rather than joining the other Alexandrians and allies on the road to do battle with Negan, Michonne hangs back with Carl and even cedes to his leadership (even though he's practically a baby) when it comes to managing the home front. So, why does Michonne stay behind? »

Um, Honestly, I Don't Really Care If Gabriel Dies on The Walking Dead

The season premiere of The Walking Dead gave us plenty to mull over. First of all, the biggest head-scratcher of season eight's first episode is the plethora of Old Rick scenes, which last the entire episode and go unexplained. But there are smaller aspects of "Mercy" that left us just as befuddled. Like, was that a Weird Al song we heard during those strange, hazy sequences? And what's the deal with that weirdo who Carl meets? All that aside, there's one final, perhaps even more perplexing part of the episode that's really been bugging me: are we supposed to care that Negan captures Gabriel? I'm just going to say it: I think Father Gabriel is a garbage character, and I don't really care what Negan does to him. There. I said it. Don't act like you aren't thinking it, too. When you consider everything, Gabriel has been a pretty lame »

4 Reasons Zombie Legend George Romero Didn't Like The Walking Dead

Image Source: Getty / Laura Lezza Season eight's premiere episode of The Walking Dead was dedicated to two important people who sadly passed away this year: fallen stunt actor John Bernecker and George A. Romero, the man who first gave (undead) life to the zombie genre as a whole with his seminal 1968 flick Night of the Living Dead. As showrunner Scott M. Gimple told Entertainment Weekly, the late, great writer-director was chosen to be honored in the season opener due to his status as an inarguable icon of the genre. "The show owes a great debt to him, and popular culture owes a great debt to him," Gimple explained. But as thoughtful, appropriate, and timely as that bit of recognition may have been, Romero wasn't exactly a fan of The Walking Dead. Here's why the horror legend took umbrage at all the undead on the small-screen series. 1. He intensely disliked the format. »

Why Halloweentown Is Easily the Best Disney Channel Original Movie

Some of the best Halloween movies are from your childhood, and Halloweentown is no different. While the Disney Channel original movie is full of witches and magic, it also teaches some powerful life lessons, above all how "being normal is vastly overrated." Not to mention Debbie Reynolds's character, Aggie Cromwell, is the coolest witch on the block. Now that it's almost Oct. 31, here are some reasons the 1998 film is one of the best Halloween DCOMs ever made. RelatedThis Halloweentown Reunion Is Bringing Us Joy, Probably Infuriating Kalabar »

There Was a Very Cool Easter Egg in the Walking Dead Premiere - Did You Catch It?

The Walking Dead kicked off season eight with a bang. Actually, make that multiple bangs, since the premiere packs in explosion after explosion in a huge assault on Negan's Sanctuary. Before all that goes down, however, there's a much quieter scene featuring Carl. He drives up to a remote, abandoned gas station, where he meets a mysterious, babbling man who begs him for food before Rick swoops in and scares him off. If you felt a strange sense of déjà vu while watching the scene, you're not going crazy: the entire sequence is a shot-for-shot re-creation of a very similar moment from the pilot with Rick. Skybound cut both of the scenes together in one epic side-by-side, which shows just how far both the characters and The Walking Dead as a whole have come. As you can see in the video above, both Grimes men go searching for gas and encounter a dangerous stranger. »
