Star Trek Continues Episode 10: To Boldly Go

Part one of the final episode for the Web’s finest fan-made series came out this week, and as usual, it does not disappoint. As Star Trek Continues warps to its conclusion, long-time Trek fans are treated to a wonderful trip back to the very beginning of the classic series.

The latest episode of Stc, “To Boldly Go” (a homage to the famous opening narrative to Classic Trek and Star Trek: The Next Generation) is a fun trip into the Trek universe that pays homage to “Where No Man Has Gone Before”, the original 1966 pilot episode for Star Trek. (Okay, that was actually the second pilot, the first being “The Cage”, starring Jeffrey Hunter as Captain Pike, but I digress.) It shows the fidelity and affection that the makers of this show have for the source material; which is why they chose to end their series that way Star Trek began. »

Toy Review: Masterpiece Movie Optimus Prime

20 October 2017 10:04 AM, PDT

While there are fleeting times I’m wrong I’m glad I was proven wrong on this toy because it’s excellent and a great addition to the Masterpiece Line. But hey you should watch my review.

I’m eating a bit of crow because when this was first unveiled I thought that it wasn’t my cup of tea. I have several movie designed Optimus Primes with the one coming out of Revenge of the Fallen being the best. I am now here to say my original article with its scathing criticism was wrong. Yes folks, this is a great bot for your collection.

Date Your Weapons in the Unique Trailer for Boyfriend Dungeon

19 October 2017 1:58 PM, PDT

Kitfox Games, creators of Moon Hunters and The Shrouded Isle, has released a trailer for their newest venture, a game that mixes the classic dungeon-style rpg with speed dating.

With the release of Dream Daddy late in 2017, more dating simulators have started emerging.  However, the team at Kitfox Games appears to have taken the proverbial cake, by meshing the dating simulator genre with the classic dungeon crawler RPG to create the most unique game we've ever witnessed, Boyfriend Dungeon: Date Your Weapons.

Yes, for those who have thought about dating their dagger, sword, talwar, epee, etc. this is the game for you.  For, while you're fighting the enemies within the dungeon, you will have those classic encounters from Dating Simulators to break up the action.

And no, your eyes did not deceive you, you can select a cat to be your mate.  I assume the weapon will sleep all day, »

Jim Carrey Becomes Andy Kaufman in Jim & Andy

19 October 2017 1:52 PM, PDT

The film Man On The Moon apparently was not just about Andy Kaufman, but it truly featured Andy Kaufman, and I am contractually obligated to mention Tony Clifton as well.

In 1999 the world got to see Jim Carrey portray his hero Andy Kaufman in Man On The Moon about the life of legendary comic. What was never told was the intense behind the scenes happenings that went on during the filming of the biopic. Now Netflix has released the first look at their documentary entitled Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond — Featuring a Very Special, Contractually Obligated Mention of Tony Clifton. Check out the Trailer below

Personally I am not much of a documentary fan. But this has my interest peaked beyond belief. With footage the studio never wanted to be released, to see the entire true story of Jim Carrey becoming Andy Kaufman. Carrey not known for being a method »

Margot Robbie is Tonya Harding in the First Teaser for I, Tonya

19 October 2017 9:51 AM, PDT

One of the most shameful moments in Olympic history is becoming a feature film.  Neon has just released the first teaser for I, Tonya, featuring Margot Robbie as Tonya Harding.

If you're unfamiliar with the name, let me tell you about disgraced Olympic competitor Tonya Harding.  In the 90s, she was one of the most prominent young figure skaters on the Us team.  She was the first American women to ever complete one of the hardest moves in figure skating, at the time, the Triple Axel.  Harding was even projected to win a Gold medal at the upcoming Winter Olympics.  Everything was going her way, until January 1994 when her ex-husband had the crazy idea to put a hit on Harding's rival, Nancy Kerrigan.

This unbelievable, shameful blemish in Olympic history is getting the Hollywood treatment.  Here is the first teaser for I, Tonya, featuring Margot Robbie as Tonya Harding and »

New Destructive Trailer for The Punisher Announces Release Date

19 October 2017 9:26 AM, PDT

A new trailer for Marvel/Netflix's latest superhero series, The Punisher, has dropped!  While we never get tired of seeing Frank Castle on the warpath, this trailer shows us something we hadn't seen yet, a release date.

Netflix has graced us with yet another bloody trailer for Marvel's The Punisher series.  The previous few gave us a good idea at how brutal the series was going to be, but today's gave us two things we hadn't had yet.  A little bit of exposition and an official release date.

November 17, while great that it's close, feels like a missed opportunity on Netflix's part.  If they had released the series a week earlier, on the 10th, they'd have released it on the Marine Corp. birthday.  Considering Frank Castle was a former Marine, this would've been very timely.

Nevertheless, the Marine Corp. will get to eat their cake on 10th and have it »

Today brings us a new trailer for Star Wars Battlefront II and it's probably the best on yet.  Entirely focused on the game's single-player aspect, it feels like watching a movie trailer and has enough cool moments to bring the chills:

Seriously, this is a good trailer.  Seeing the drama play out, the large scale battles, and knowing I'll be able to participate in it all is exactly what I've been wanting from a Star Wars game for a long time.  Hopefully the story plays out as epically as the trailer suggests.  Guess we'll find out next month!

Ignite the inferno and burn the Rebellion to the ground in Star Wars Battlefront 2's single-player campaign. »

Is Deckard a Replicant or Not?

18 October 2017 9:05 AM, PDT

Does Blade Runner: 2049 answer the question about Rick Deckard’s identity once and for all, or is the answer now even more murky than before?

Warning - This article features in depth spoilers for both the original Blade Runner and Blade Runner: 2049. If you have not seen both films, proceed at your own risk!

It’s one of the most discussed questions in science fiction cinema of all time. Rick Deckard, the central character of 1982’s Blade Runner, is employed to hunt down human-like androids called replicants. But could he actually be a replicant himself? The original film doesn’t give a clear answer, which has left the door open for discussion on the topic. Two director’s cuts released over the next two decades added in additional important materials to be taken into consideration, but the mystery remained.

Blade Runner: 2049 was the long awaited sequel released »

EA Closes Visceral Games; Moves Star Wars Title to New Team

17 October 2017 7:34 PM, PDT

In a shocking and unfortunate turn of events, Electronic Arts has moved on from Visceral Games.  One of the more high profile games in the works was an intriguing Star Wars title that will now move to a different studio.

Visceral Games was once known for developing video games that left players on the edge of their seats with titles like Dead Space and Battlefield Hardline.  However, that time has come to a close as Electronic Arts, their parent company, has announced that they will be officially closing down the once-promising studio.

Our Visceral studio will be ramping down and closing, and we’re in the midst of shifting as many of the team as possible to other projects and teams at EA.

This quote, by Executive Vice President of EA Patrick Soderlund, was taken from a blog post made on the company's website during an update on Visceral Games' most-anticipated project, »

Pokemon Ultra Sun and Moon Story Trailer Gets Super Dramatic

17 October 2017 11:26 AM, PDT

A brand new trailer for Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon has arrived, putting the focus entirely on the story and teases a much darker, narrative heavy, storyline for gamers to play through.  Come inside to check it out!

The Pokemon games haven't always been known for their deep stories, and it's only been the last few generations that narrative began to take precedent over the monster catching gameplay.  Hell, most of the Pokemon game stories wrapped up well before you even thought about taking on the Elite Four, making the end game seem more busy work than anything else.

Sun and Moon definitely didn't take that approach and weaved a decent story throughout the new region...But since the announcement of Ultra Sun and Moon I've been a bit worried that the story this time would be more of a re-tread and offering litte for me to come back »
