Pokemon Crystal Coming to the 3Ds eShop Next Month

Retrogamers will get the chance to play Pokemon Crystal next month, in all it's original glory, but with all the benefits of wireless trading and the PokeBank.

Just a couple months ago, Nintendo added the highly popular Pokemon Gold and Silver to the 3Ds Virtual Console, but soon you'll be able to play the expanded version of those games, with Pokemon Crystal.  Set to launch on January 26th (for only $9.99!), Pokemon fans will get the original experience with some added bonuses.

When it launched in Japan 17 years ago, Pokémon Crystal introduced many new and exciting elements to the beloved Pokémon franchise. The game, an expanded version of the popular Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver games, was the first in the Pokémon franchise to allow players to choose between a boy or girl playable character, as well as being the first game to introduce animations during Pokémon battles.

A few weeks back, we started hearing mutterings that the Walt Disney Co. and Fox were in talks for Disney to purchase the movie and TV side of 21st Century Fox.  At that time, the deal seemed so far away from happening, due to the talks going quiet.  However, it appears that it was all part of the plan as Disney announced today that they have decided to acquire 21st Century Fox for a cool $52.4 billion!

The deal will include ownership of all film and TV assets, but will not include any of the premiere sports, news, or the Fox channels, as that would become a monopoly.  Instead, those channels under 21st Century Fox (Fox Broadcasting network and stations, »

Wcg Returns to Hold a Massive eSports Festival in 2018

One of the events that put eSports on the map is making a comeback in 2018!  Today's press conference announced plans to build an event well beyond your run-of-the-mill tournaments.

For the better part of a year or so, people have been saying that eSports is one of the fastest growing sports today, and with good reason.  We have ELeague, Esl, and even individual eSports events like Call of Duty World League, Overwatch League, etc.  However, before those became as big as they are today, there was Wcg.  Before its 5 year hiatus, the World Cyber Games were the largest eSports event in the world for 13 years.

In 2018, they may just reclaim that title.

At a press conference in Bangkok, Thailand, Wcg CEO Kwon HyukBin took the stage to announce that Wcg was back and that they had Big plans for 2018.  Instead of returning with just one tournament, Wcg has decided to »

The Classic Influences of Star Wars

13 December 2017 8:30 AM, PST

Although Star Wars today has become much more than just a movie, there was a time when it was nothing more than a risky business proposition. This is a look at how classic film and cultural changes helped that original film blossom into the most popular and profitable film-based franchise in history.

Let me take you back to a time before midichlorians and Gungans. Before lightsabers and tie fighters. This is a time when Death Star could have referred to a Shuriken, and Skywalker was the nickname for future NBA Hall of famer David Thompson. It was 1973 and George Lucas began writing the script for what would become Star Wars, later Episode IV: A New Hope. At this time, Lucas had completed filming his second feature film, American Graffiti, which would become a hit. His first feature film was 1971’s Thx-1138, a dystopian sci-fi, and a flop in theaters. However, »

Natalie Portman Battles Biological Terrors in Latest Annihilation Trailer

13 December 2017 7:21 AM, PST

This morning brings us a new trailer for the Sci-Fi film, Annihilation, showing off the action side of the film, but still looking amazing.  Come inside to check it out!

The first trailer we saw for Annihilation was a trippy affair, showcasing a more cerebral and esoteric science fiction film.  Today's new trailer takes an entirely different approach, focusing on Natalie Portman and her crew battling strange monsters.  Though it makes the film look entirely different from the first trailer, it's no less impressive.

I can't wait.  Annihilation looks like a blend of high-thinking Sci-Fi with a monster movie twist (my favorite), with some impressive character work to boot.

Based on Jeff VanderMeer’s best-selling Southern Reach Trilogy, Annihilation stars Natalie Portman, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Gina Rodriguez, Tessa Thompson, Tuva Novotny and Oscar Isaac. It was written and directed by Alex Garland (Ex Machina, 28 Days Later).

Annihilation arrives in theaters »

DreamWorks and Netflix Expand Their Animation with Six New Series

12 December 2017 4:10 PM, PST

That “Kids” tab on that you get before the welcome screen on your Netflix is about to get more use as they are adding six new series for your kids and some of us adults to watch.

Film success seems to be the contributing factor for some of these series as they are continuations from those films. But some of these are just great series and continuing them is kind of a no brainer.

DreamWorks Trolls: The Beat Goes On!

A 344-million-dollar profit at the box office will see Trolls continuing with a new series. With that if you’re expecting Justin Timberlake, Ana Kendrick, or anyone else returning from the movie think again. Skylar Astin (Pitch Perfect 1 and 2) and Amanda Leighton (This Is Us, The Fosters) will be filling the roles of Branch and Poppy with original songs written by Alana Da Fonseca (Pitch Perfect 3). Ni No Kuni 2 Gets Another Delay

12 December 2017 1:27 PM, PST

Once again, fans eagerly awaiting the arrival of Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom will have to wait a little while longer.  Developers have pushed back the game a couple more months.

I know...I shouldn't be bummed.  A game delay typically means the final product is really good, and worth the wait.  Still, I can't help but feel a little saddened.  This is the second delay the Jrpg sequel has been hit with (we'd be playing it already if it'd stuck to its initial date), but once again, it's not a major one.  It's moving back just a couple months from the January 19th, slot, and will now arrive on March 23, 2018.

Level-5 President and CEO, Akihiro Hino, announced the delay with this letter to the fans:

Hello Ni no Kuni fans,

As you all know, Level-5 is committed to delivering the highest levels of design and quality in each of our titles. »

Over the weekend, Call of Duty World League kicked off their season with a grueling Dallas Open that saw upsets, delays, and incredible Call of Duty moments.  One of the people who was part of the incredible Call of Duty experience was Team Kaliber's Accuracy.

One of the surprises of the Call of Duty World League was the sudden arrival of Team Kaliber.  The team had never won a championship title and had spent the last 3 years grinding just to get back to a championship opportunity.  What made this championship turnaround possible was the incredible cohesiveness between their stars, Chino,  Theory, 18 year old sensation Kenny, and the eventual Mvp of Cwl Dallas, Accuracy.

Right after they took down reigning champs and Cwl darlings, Optic Gaming, Accuracy took a moment to talk to us about the experience so far.
