Daily Dead recently spoke to Shainberg in anticipation of Rupture’s release, and he discussed what inspired the project, how the aesthetics he established helped serve the story, and his experiences collaborating with Noomi.

You really put Noomi through her paces in this movie, and she’s really great. I'd love to hear about where this idea came from, because the story has some very unexpected twists that I really didn't see coming.

Steven Shainberg: This movie, for me, is rooted in a Japanese film by [Hiroshi] Teshigahara called Woman in the Dunes, which is a very beautiful, incredible movie about a guy who is held captive by a »

Rawhead Rex 4K Restoration, Theatrical Re-Release & Blu-ray / DVD Announced by Kino Lorber

In the 1980s, Clive Barker introduced horror fans to a world where pleasure and pain intertwined in Hellraiser (based on The Hellbound Heart), and in that same decade in Books of Blood Volume 3, he created a violent creature known as Rawhead Rex, who jumped to the screen to prey upon a rural town in George Pavlou's 1987 film of the same name. Now, 30 years later, Kino Lorber is bringing Rawhead Rex back to select theaters this summer with a new 4K restoration that will also be featured on a new home media release this fall.

The exact dates for the theatrical re-release and special edition Blu-ray / DVD of Rawhead Rex, as well as the home media release's special features, have yet to be announced, but we'll be sure to keep Daily Dead readers updated as more information is revealed.

Tribeca 2017 Interview: Justin Benson, Aaron Moorhead & David Lawson Jr. Talk The Endless

26 April 2017 3:41 PM, PDT

One of my favorite indie horror movies of the last five years is Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead’s Resolution, a genre-bending effort that’s so confidently unique that it’s become a film I’ve recommended countless times to friends and family, whether they dig horror movies or not, and even programmed it as part of the film fest I used to run out here in Los Angeles, just because I wanted folks to have a chance to see it on a big screen (which doesn’t often happen for a lot of lower-budgeted genre fare).

A few years ago, their Lovecraftian love story Spring knocked my socks off, and I enjoyed their contribution to V/H/S: Viral as well, but nothing could have prepared me for my viewing experience while watching their latest movie, The Endless. About five minutes in, I got absolutely giddy once I realized »
