'Coco' Review: Pixar's Day-of-the-Dead Gem Is as Lively as They Come
37 minutes ago
With its cast of skeletons and macabre "I see dead people" vibe, Coco may be the strangest thing ever to come out of the Pixar animation factory. That's a good thing. Their latest animated movie finds the company spreading its wings and pushing into new territory, including betrayal and murder, without neglecting its family franchise responsibilities. It's a tricky business, which Pixar, mostly, pulls off in high style.
Watch Disguised Maroon 5, Jimmy Fallon Busk in New York City Subway
1 hour ago
Maroon 5 and Jimmy Fallon disguised themselves as bearded buskers and hit the New York City subways in a charming Tonight Show web video. Singer Adam Levine and guitarist James Valentine performed acoustic renditions of the group's 2014 hit "Sugar" and Queen's 1979 hit "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," with the late-night host assisting on tambourine.
During the Queen cover, most people walked by the performance disinterested – and totally oblivious to the musicians' true identities. (It also helped that Levine also masked his signature vocal style with a huskier, heavier tone. »

Iranian Man Indicted for HBO Hack, Extortion Scheme
21 hours ago
An Iranian man, Behzad Mesri, has been charged in the massive HBO hack and extortion scheme, NBC News reports. Mesri is accused of infiltrating HBO's networks and leaking internal company emails, as well as unreleased episodes and scripts for Game of Thrones, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Insecure.
Despite the charges, Mesri has not been arrested. The decision to indict him is part of a "name and shame" strategy the U.S. government has used in the past to try to curb the work of foreign hackers it doesn't expect to apprehend. »
‘Darkest Hour’ Review: Gary Oldman Gives Us a Fearsome, Oscar-Worthy Churchill
23 hours ago
Gary Oldman is one of the greatest actors on the planet – and he proves it again as Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour, director Joe Wright's rip-roaring take on the celebrated Prime Minister's first tumultuous month in office in May, 1940, when France and Belgium are a whisper away from surrendering to Hitler and Great Britain may be next. (How I'd love to see Oldman's take on the Fuhrer).

Spike Lee: Why I Turned 'She's Gotta Have It' Into a TV Series
20 November 2017 10:14 AM, PST
"I want you to know the only reason I'm consenting to this is because I wish to clear my name." With those words, a twentysomething Brooklyn artist named Nola Darling introduced herself to the world – and, in the process, so did Spike Lee, a prodigiously talented twentysomething writer-director who invented the character for She's Gotta Have It, which hit theaters in the summer of 1986. Speaking directly to the camera, Nola (played by Tracy Camilla Johns) laid out her life's fundamental dilemma: how to be a free-thinking, independent woman who refused »
Inside 'The Punisher': Why the Marvel Fan Favorite Deserved His Own Series
20 November 2017 7:31 AM, PST
Jon Bernthal is getting the shit kicked out of him.
The 41-year-old actor is tied to a chair in a dusty, dingy basement that doubles as an underground surveillance control center-slash-hacker mancave, complete with a dozen computers and a dirty cot in the corner. He looks like he's gone several rounds with either Mike Tyson circa 1988 or a mack truck. The person standing in front of him doling out punches – and whose identity may or may not constitute a spoiler, depending on how far along you are in The Punisher's inaugural season, »

'The Walking Dead' Recap: Father Figures
19 November 2017 7:00 PM, PST
We're a little more than halfway through the The Walking Dead's fall season, and so far no line line of dialogue has been more memorable than Negan's warning in the premiere: "I hope you got your shittin' pants on ... because you are about to shit your pants." Still, the big bad boss does try to top himself in the latest episode, when he suggests that Gregory is "a thin-dicked politician, threading the needle with your thin, thin dick." A pattern's emerging here: Not only does Negan communicate almost exclusively in vulgarities, »
