Michael Emerson seems poised to do a real number on the Green Arrow.

The Person of Interest and Lost alum is joining the CW series for Season 6 in the recurring role of… an unnamed mystery character that has yet to be announced. Hmm.

In addition to his runs as Harold Finch and the equally enigmatic Benjamin Linus, Emerson’s previous TV credits include Parenthood and The Practice. »

‘Family Guy’ Comic-Con Panel Pays Tribute to Adam West and Carrie Fisher; Here’s Who Will Replace Her as Peter Griffin’s Boss

5 hours ago | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Family Guy” has tapped Bryan Cranston and Niecy Nash to play Peter Griffin’s new boss, filling the void left by the death of Carrie Fisher.

Fisher, who died in December, had occasionally voiced Peter’s boss, Angela, on the show since 2005. Cranston and Nash will play a husband and wife duo on the show.

The casting was announced by executive producer Rich Appel during “Family Guy’s” San Diego Comic-Con panel on Saturday. The always raucous panel started off on a somber note, as creator Seth MacFarlane and the show’s cast and producers offered their memories of Fisher and Adam West, who played the mayor of Quahog.

MacFarlane remembered West as someone who “had boundless energy and instantly put everyone in a good mood… The man gave 150 percent right up to the end, »

‘Legion’ Might Bring In Professor X

4 hours ago | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

I will admit, ashamed as I am, to not yet having finished watching the first season of FX’s “Legion.” While the series pilot was truly one of the best episodes of television to air this year, subsequent episodes disappointed in their stricter adherence to traditional superhero show conventions. I bailed on the show fairly early.

I’ve been assured that in later episodes the show returns to the experimental short-film aesthetic of the pilot, and have been planning  to catch myself up on the series at some point down the line.

Patton Oswalt Tapped to Replace Bobby Moynihan as Lead Voice on SyFy’s ‘Happy!’

3 hours ago | The Wrap | See recent The Wrap news »

Patton Oswalt is set to replace “Saturday Night Live” veteran Bobby Moynihan as the lead voice in SyFy’s new series “Happy!,” coming out later this year. Oswalt will lend his pipes to the title character, a blue flying horse that is a positive influence on Nick Sax, played by Christopher Meloni. Sax is a grizzled ex-cop (sound familiar?) that’s now a boozing hitman in need of direction. They’ll work together in a classic odd-couple match-up to save an abducted young girl named Hailey. Moynihan had originally been cast as Happy and had voiced the character in the show’s pilot. »

‘Cold Justice’s’ Kelly Siegler on Getting A Second Life on Oxygen

10 hours ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

In her previous career as a prosecutor, Kelly Siegler never had to tell a victim’s family that she couldn’t solve a case. Unfortunately, in her more recent role as executive producer and on-camera investigator on “Cold Justice,” where she digs into small town murder cold cases, she does not have the same luxury.

“The first time I ever sat down with a family and told them I didn’t solve a case, I was probably about 51. I was bawling; they were bawling; it was horrible. But [the other producers] said, ‘No Kelly, it’s fine, we have an ending,'” Siegler tells Variety. “It just wasn’t a happy one.”

That experience took place in the earlier seasons of “Cold Justice,” when the true crime procedural was on TNT. The Turner cabler cancelled the show after two years  in the fall of 2015, blindsiding Siegler, who had helped bring 30 arrests and 16 convictions in that time.

The live broadcasts of O.J. Simpson’s parole hearing attracted 13 million total viewers across eight different networks, according to Nielsen data.

The hearing was carried live from 1 p.m to 3 p.m. Et on Thursday. For the broadcast networks, CBS was first with 3.1 million viewers. ABC was second with 2.3 million. NBC finished third with 1.9 million, and Fox was fourth with 1.3 million.

On cable, Fox News led the pack with 1.7 million, followed by CNN with 1.1 million. HLN clocked in with 559,000, and ESPN nabbed 471,000. It should be noted, however, these numbers do not reflect online streaming of the hearing.

The viewership is a far cry from the infamous white Bronco chase in which Simpson was involved in 1994, which drew an estimated 95 million viewers. Nor was it anywhere close to the 150 million people who tuned in for the verdict in Simpson’s murder trial in 1995.

‘Westworld’ and ‘Game of Thrones’: Ed Harris Doesn’t Know What’s Going On, But He Likes It

47 minutes ago | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

Led by the Southern accent of Reggie Watts, the giant cast of “Westworld” was cracking jokes and dropping connections during their Comic-Con panel on Saturday evening. Amid the 16 participants, Ed Harris may have been the happiest.

Though quiet unless posed a question, Harris proved himself game for anything; most notably when Watts asked him to explain why “Westworld,” a show that’s both complex and genre-bending, connected with such a large audience.

“That’s a good question, Reggie,” Harris said. “What [Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy] have created is their own genre, in a way, and it’s just extremely relevant.”

Harris went on to say he didn’t believe the show’s intricacies were a detriment to its success: far from it.

“In a way, it’s like ‘Game of Thrones,’” he said. “You watch ‘Game of Thrones,’ and I don’t know what’s going on in that thing, but I enjoy watching it. »

The cast and producers of “Star Trek: Discovery” have no patience for the backlash they’ve been getting online over the show’s commitment to depicting the universe as a wide and varied place.
