Tc Kids Club:[p]Salute the General

1 December 2009 9:30 AM, PST | TribecaFilm.com | See recent Tribeca Film news »

Have your kids seen every kids' film this year, from the good (Up, Coraline) to the not-so-good (Planet 51, Hotel for Dogs)? Well, if you are tired of all things Squarepants, give (you and) your kids a treat, and introduce them to one of the greats. This weekend, Tribeca Cinemas Kids Club is screening three of Buster Keaton's best: shorts The Play House and The Electric House at 10:30 am (for ages 3+), and his masterpiece, The General, at 1:30 pm (for ages 7+). If your kids fall into the younger set (3+ is the official age, but a few younger siblings have been spotted at past 10:30 screenings), Saturday morning offers two classic Keaton shorts: The Play House (22 minutes) and The Electric House (19 minutes) both showcase Keaton at his antic and merry best. This Week In DVD: November 10th

Rob Hunter loves movies.  He also loves working for the local "retirement home" as head geezer catcher... basically he gets a call whenever one of the elderly residents escapes wanders off in a daze from the home. These two joys come together in the form of cash money payments that he receives every week and immediately uses to buy more DVDs.  So join us each week as he takes a look at new DVD releases and gives his highly unqualified opinion as to which titles are worth BUYing, which are better off as RENTals, and which should be AVOIDed at all costs. Click on any of the titles below to magically head over to Amazon.com and pick up the DVD.  And don't forget to check out Neil Miller's hilariously titled This Week In Blu-ray column for reviews on the latest high definition Blu-ray releases! Up I just reviewed the Blu-ray version of this release and may I just say it is worth every penny. Pixar films look phenomenal in high-definition and the word "flawless" is by no means a stretch. Along with my review I have also included a clip from the new animated short "Dug's Special Mission," so just click here for the video and full review details.

Oh, and if you want to buy it in store you can get a $10 off coupon right here. Monsters, Inc. Yup, it's Pixar week on Blu-ray as Monsters, Inc. joins Up as well as a gift pack version of Cars and this one too manages to impress greatly. There are a few new features, which I detailed in my review and I also included a sneak peek at the new roundtable feature in my review right here. »

Chris Pine to be Unstoppable with Denzel Washington, Tony Scott

11 June 2009 4:18 PM, PDT | The Scorecard Review | See recent Scorecard Review news »

Hot off the Enterprise’s boosters from Star Trek, the man who played James Tiberius Kirk is now going to be even more Unstoppable.

Variety is reporting that Chris Pine is in negotiations to star in Unstoppable a drama from 20th Century Fox to be directed by The Taking of Pelham 123’s Tony Scott. Denzel Washington is already attached to the project.

The film is about “a young conductor who jumps into a locomotive with an experienced engineer in chase of a runaway train that carries a cargo of toxic chemicals.” Pine is zeroing on playing the young conductor in the story based on actual events. The script was written by Mark Bomback.

Julie Yorn, Tony Scott, and Mimi Rogers will be producing, with Chris Ciaffa executive producing.

Trains don’t have the same so-called flexibility, especially compared to planes and automobiles. However, they’ve given us some pretty great action movies, »
