We see a glimpse of a naked woman's backside in the European version of this film. In the American version, the naked woman is obscured. (The 2003 DVD from Kino Video uses an Italian print, which includes the nude scene.)

Nudity was shown in pre-Code films up until the early 30's.

The vice-versa is true. The comic book artists, Bob Kane and Jerry Robinson, drew heavily from Gwynplaine when they created Batman's arch-enemy in the late thirties.
