(1951) The landmark adaptation of Tennessee Williams' Broadway hit earned 12 Academy Award nominations (among them for Marlon Brando's primal, raw performance and Elia Kazan's searing direction) and won 4 -- including Best Actress for Vivien Leigh as the deluded, wilted flower of the old South Blanche DuBois, Best Supporting Actress for Kim Hunter (as "Stella!"), and Best Supporting Actor for Karl Malden. The Legion of Decency pressured the studio to cut the film by three minutes from Kazan's original final release version. Those deleted scenes were rediscovered in the early 1990s and restored for this edition. The new 2-disc Special Edition also features new documentaries and rare archival footage.
