Parents Guide for
Tom Jones (1963) More at IMDbPro »

The content of this page was created directly by users and has not been screened or verified by IMDb staff.
Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, that you instead use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.
Visit our Parents Guide Help to learn more

Sex & Nudity

Though there is the implication--perhaps somewhat more than an implication--that many people (unmarried or married but never to each other) have sex throughout the movie, there are no actual sex scenes, and the only nudity is a shot of a woman breastfeeding a baby.

Violence & Gore

There are a few sequences involving injury to animals. A horse is spurred to the point of bleeding. Cocks are shoved at each other to begin a fight.

There are also several mostly bloodless fight sequences. One man throws a cup at another and hits him in the head drawing blood. In one sword fight, a man is stabbed and presumed dead.

There is a hanging.

Profanity

Is "whore" or "bastard" vulgar enough to bear mention?

People drink quite frequently and quite a lot in this movie. There are quite a few scenes of drunkenness.

A lady smokes a pipe in one scene, and a man sniffs snuff.

There are a few suspenseful and exciting scenes, but they probably aren't "intense."
