Avatar Sequels and James Cameron’s Other Fantastic Voyage

11 December 2009 2:00 PM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

While the world is awash with embargo ridiculing Avatar reviews we thought you’d like to know what James Cameron has up his sleeve.

Speaking at the Avatar Press Conference (which you can watch in full here) Cameron revealed that two sequels to Avatar are being considered. While this is not a huge surprise, given the money poured into the epic sci-fi production, it remains to be seen if Avatar has a story which spans another two films, try as I might I can’t shake the memory of the Matrix sequels.

More interesting was the news that Cameron is donning his producer hat for a remake of Richard Fleischer’s 1966 Fantastic Voyage, a film about a team of scientists minaturised and injected into their dying colleague’s body. How  it will beat Inner Space I don’t know, but Cameron’s technological  capability should make for an interesting film. …

Next for Cameron: Two 'Avatar' Sequels and 'Fantastic Voyage'

11 December 2009 9:45 AM, PST | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

If there's one thing guaranteed even before Avatar hits theaters, it's that 20th Century Fox spent a ton of money investing in James Cameron's new technology and they're not going to let it go to waste. What that means is there's a very good chance we'll be seeing more Avatar movies (specifically two additional sequels), if only because the legwork is done -- the intricate world of Pandora has now been created -- and so now all Cameron and Co. need to do is focus on the kind of story that might give Avatar a shot at landing high on a list of the greatest trilogies of all time.

Speaking to press in London, Cameron fully admitted that he's already got plans for two more sequels should Fox want to pull the trigger on them (which they should, because I feel audiences will devour this sucker). Says Cameron (on his pitch …

James Cameron to Produce Fantastic Voyage Remake

11 December 2009 6:51 AM, PST | FilmJunk | See recent FilmJunk news »

A couple of days ago we posted a short news story [1] about James Cameron being involved in a new futuristic sci-fi action movie written by Shane Salerno. At the time, there was speculation that it might be Doomsday Protocol, a previously announced project written by Salerno, but today we have learned what the mysterious project will actually be: a remake of Richard Fleischer's 1966 sci-fi film Fantastic Voyage. Variety [2] reports that Cameron will not direct, but that he is planning to use the same 3-D technology as Avatar -- even going so far as to re-use the same "CG mountains, plants, trees, leaves, flowers, bugs"! The movie centers on a scientist who is left comatose after an attempt on his life. His colleagues must shrink down using his own experimental technology and inject themselves into his blood stream to help save his life. Roland Emmerich was attached to direct the remake once upon a time, …

Cameron Dives Into 3D "Fantastic Voyage"

10 December 2009 5:14 PM, PST | SneakPeek | See recent SneakPeek news »

Director James Cameron has confirmed he will be producing a 3D remake of "Fantastic Voyage" for 20th Century Fox, graphically updating the 1966 science fiction feature.

The original film was written by Harry Kleiner, from a story by Otto Klement and Jerome Bixby.

The movie also inspired an animated Filmation TV series and book series by author Issac Asimov.

In the film, The United States and the Soviet Union have developed technology allowing matter to be miniaturized using a process that shrinks individual atoms. Its value is limited because objects shrunk return to normal size after a period of time and the smaller an object is made, the quicker it reverts.

Scientist 'Jan Benes', working behind the Iron Curtain, calculates a way to make the shrinking process work indefinitely. With the help of the CIA, he escapes to the West, but an attempted assassination leaves him comatose, with a blood clot in his brain. …

Stargate Universe 1.07 "Earth" Recap

7 November 2009 4:12 AM, PST | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

So we learned a lot of stuff about our characters tonight on Stargate Universe and I have to say that it was best offering yet. Of course, some of the sci-fi action types might beg to differ, but this is a character based show and we finally got some depth on the characters we are growing to love (or hate in some opinions) and I felt like I got a feast tonight. How about you?

Dirty, Dirty Colonel!!!

We opened tonight with what looked like Young getting a routine check up from Tj, but he comes on to her saying that he is sorry and never meant to hurt her. Tj passionately kisses him and he kisses back.

What?!?!?!?!?

Col. Young wakes up and realizes that he is late for a meeting. He and Camile use the Ancient Communication Stones to contact Earth. Once there, Lt. Gen. O'Neill (guest star …
