According to Moviehole, Zombieland 2 is happening and it might be in 3-D. Director Ruben Fleischer spoke about the sequel, claiming that all the principal actors are interested in returning and that "the genre really lends itself to [3-D]."Not really sure where he gets that from considering the lack of 3-D zombie films.
The story was broken by Clint Morris, producer of Condition Dead 3-D, which comes out next year and will give zombie fans a glimpse of what 3-D mixed with zombies will look like. Patrick Lussier (My Bloody Valentine 3-D) directed the movie and will probably do better than Night of the Living Dead 3-D. At least, we hope so.
There are few details or the suppossed sequel, with Fleischer and company still needing to "crack" the story for the sequel.
Considering Fleischer's strong visual sense displayed in Zombieland, a 3-D sequel could be pretty spectacular. 3-D may be »

The Crazies is a little seen 1973 horror film by George A. Romero. The plot revolves around a city under siege from infected, murdering psychopaths – and the army – who are sent in to clear up the mess. It has proved hugely influential since. Screenwriter and novelist Alex Garland essentially amalgamated Romero’s landmark flick, Night of the Living Dead with The Crazies. The result being: 28 Days Later. Flash-forward to 2009 and The Crazies has been remade by Hollywood filmmaker Breck Eisner into a mega-budget action-horror.
Whilst the original Romero flick can be seen as a holy relic of exploitation cinema, it is by no means, perfect. Its low budget overcome by the strength of the premise. In 2004, Zack Snyder directed a pretty decent adaptation of Romero’s masterpiece Dawn of the Dead, so it was only a matter of time before studios rummaged further into his back catalogue.

The Third Time’s a Charm... If the Living are Dead
My very first writing for Icons of Fright was a convention report on Pittsburgh, Pa’s Monster Bash in 2007. It was a decent show, a small-scale convention where I met Kyra Schon and Bill Hinzman of Night Of The Living Dead, and it marked my inaugural trip to the Pittsburgh area. My second visit to the area followed a year later, when I travelled to Monroeville, home of George Romero’s Dawn Of The Dead. The purpose behind that one was the HorrorHound show, another convention I chronicled for Icons. But that report ended up being more about my buddy X hitting a deer than the lackluster convention itself. This past Halloween weekend, I made my third visit to the area, and this trip was something altogether special. This time, I was headed to Gary Streiner’s 2nd Annual »

Ok, so it's not that old, just taken from the when George Romero had Survival of the Dead at the Toronto Film Festival, so we admit we are very late in deliviering this interview. Sorry.
But, as a site devoted to horror and zombies, we would be remiss not to include the following interview. Some out there may still not know that Romero's original title for Night of the Living Dead was Night of the Flesh-Eaters. Plus, Romero reacts to the huge zombie following that he has created. Check it out below:

Under the auspices of the Facebook Comic-Con (a free virtual convention occurring through the architecture of Facebook), Night of the Living Dead: Reanimated (Notld:r) will be screening in its entirety from November 12th-15th.
Here are the details:
For this screening the Notld:r event page on Facebook (typically just used to announce the time and place of real world events) doubles as the venue, and those "attending" the event will be able to view the entire feature-length project for free from the comfort of their own homes... well before its official release.
As a reminder, Notld:r is a video-based art show. Artists, illustrators, and animators from around the world were invited to select scenes from the original film and make them their own. With no restrictions on style, media, or process, the resulting works ranged from oil paintings to comic illustrations and sock puppets to digital animation. These works »

You remember the VHS cover: a zombie, clawing its way out of a TV set. And that title? Totally 80’s, totally in blue neon with drippy, gruesome, haunted house lettering: The Video Dead, my friends. Heck it used to be on USA every Saturday growing up, hawked by Rhonda Shear or Commander USA. Well, as you know, it’s not on DVD ... yet.
Cut to: Mr. Chris MacGibbon — ghoul about town, trying to do the right thing, giving us another shot of 80’s zombies, finally. I had the pleasure of throwing a few questions Chris’ way and if we all play our cards right, we’ll be slipping The Video Dead right next to our copies of Humaniods From the Deep. Why? Because we can, and we’ll have Chris to thank for it.
Heather Buckley: When was the first time you watched The Video Dead?

Seems like there's always a few Night Of The Living Dead projects in the works. One that we reported on a while back was Night Of The Living Dead: Reanimated , an on-line presentation of artists taking scenes from George Romero's classic and 'reanimating' them through processes ranging from CGI to puppetry and oil paintings to tattoos. When can you see it? It's screening now between November 12-15th, 2009 as part of the Facebook Comic-Con (a free virtual convention occurring through the architecture of facebook). For this screening the event page doubles as the venue and those 'attending' the event will be able to view the entire feature length project for free from the comfort of their own homes... well before it's official release. Lonnie Martin and Cindy Marie Martin of Ningen Manga Productions dropped us a line with an update on Women’S Studies, the feminism-oriented fright feature that, at last report, was slated to hit DVD this year. Lonnie, who wrote and directed the movie, reveals why that hasn’t happened—and how the flick has been improved as a result.
“In October 2008, we rendered the services of a sales agent who quickly got us a direct-to-dvd distribution deal,” he tells Fango. “However, due to the economic climate, the company sat on it, giving us a vague ‘fall 2009’ release promise. As we got into this past summer, it become clear that they had lost interest in Women’S Studies. They had a couple of low-budget horror titles with no marquee stars bomb, and decided they didn’t want to release Studies. At that point, we were stuck waiting out various contracts.

There are many theories, ideas or should I say 'schools of thought' on how the world would end. At the height of the Cold War, nuclear annihilation ranks at the very top. While others argue it will not be man who will destroy the world (directly) but - an epidemic of global proportions (most probably from a potent strain of virus - think: I am Legend) or severe climactic change (another ice age perhaps? That would be Day After Tommorow right?) or mechanical uprising (The Terminator, anyone?) or even attack from the outside - conquering aliens (Mars Attacks!) or perhaps an asteroid. And let's not forget zombies!

If there were any justice, George A. Romero's Night of the Living Dead (1968) would be counted as one of the great movie debuts of all time. (Yes, up there next to Citizen Kane.) In some quarters it is, but the fact that it's a horror film and the fact that it has languished for decades in the public domain (and many, many cheap, sub-par VHS tapes and DVDs) counts against it. Not to mention that younger zombie fans that come to the movie for the first time will most likely be surprised -- and probably disappointed -- as to how slow and thoughtful it really is. But if you consider things besides gore and terror to be important in your horror movies, then Night of the Living Dead endures, not just as one of the great genre movies of all time, but one of the greatest movies ever made, period. »

We’ve seen a lot of origin stories in the past few years – Wolverine just came out this summer, Magneto may or may not be happening, there is always Superman and of course Batman’s origin has been told several times. Heck, The Hobbit can even be considered an origin story. Ghost Rider was unfortunately given an origin movie that dated back to the old west. I’m a huge fan of Tremors and the 4th movie went back to the old west as well, for an origin story about the subterranean monster worm.
So I understand why studios and copyright holders want to make origin movies on comic book characters and even monsters, but I cannot for the life of me figure out this latest news coming from “wrastlin” news site Lords of Pain. WWE, in a bid to capitalize on one of their brands, is in the process »

Corbin Bernsen wants to blend zombies and baseball. Sounds like a joke right? It's not.
Bernsen spoke to Fangoria a week ago at the Worcester, Ma's Rock and Shock convention, where his directorial effort Dead Air was screening, and spoke about the project as a very real possibility.
It's called Three Strikes, You're Dead. I come to these conventions and meet people, and there are two things they like: They enjoy horror, but they're also into the Major League movies I was in. And this is kind of a revenge thing—I heard they're doing Major League 4 and they aren't including my character, and I got kind of pissed off, so I thought, "I'm gonna get 'em back. I'm gonna do a zombie baseball movie."
It's set about 30 years in the future in Pittsburgh—a little tribute to George Romero and Night of the Living Dead. The undead have been »
