Lester Lands Saxon Fan Son A Part In Comeback Film

3 February 2009 2:00 PM, PST | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Oliver! star Mark Lester turned his new movie into a history lesson for his son Felix after the youngster started becoming obsessed with Saxon life. Lester makes a return to movie acting after 30 years in 1066 - and asked if his son could join him on the set of the film.

Producers were excited about teaming up father and son as historical royals King Harold and his son Godwin, and agreed to let the youngster take part.

Felix impressed his bosses so much, he landed a second part in the film - as a younger version of his father's character.

Associate producer Lance Prebble tells WENN, "We first met Felix and his brother when Mark visited the annual celebration and reenactment of the great 1066 conflict at the original site in Battle, near Hastings, in the U.K.

"Felix really enjoyed the whole day, soaking up the atmosphere, touring the Saxon-tented village and learning how to fight like a real Saxon warrior.

"It appears that he enjoyed it so much that some time later we received a call from Mark to ask if there was any way in which we could involve Felix in the project, as he had developed a real passion for the story of King Harold and William the Conqueror. Of course we said yes, and decided that he would be the obvious choice as not only the young Harold, but also as the adult Harold's son Godwin, adding a real family authenticity to the story." »
