Sex & Nudity

-The film opens with the rear nudity of several men and women. We see all of bare breasts and buttocks as well as the pubic region of another man.

-A couple kiss and grope each other in a barn.

-It's implied that a woman with rabies has sex with several men at a time. We see parts of her in the act and we see her bare breasts and buttocks after she scratches one of the men. We also see the man's bare buttocks as he chases after her.

Violence & Gore

The violence in the film is very graphic and gory. It was the first film to be given an X rating primarily for violence. Even today, some of it is still quite shocking.

-The film opens with a chicken getting it's throat slit. We see blood spray and pour out.

-It's implied that a girl is beaten and assaulted.

-People run around killing rats in an abandoned house and one man shoots one and then picks up it's corpse and plays with it.

-A man's feet are cut. We see much blood drip out.

-An old man is punched in the stomach. He spits out a lot of blood, which stains his shirt.

-The same old man is drugged.

-A man is kicked in the groin.

-A boy shoots a rabid dog. He then takes from blood from the corpse and injects it into meat pies and sells the meat pies to a group of Satan worshiping hippies.

-A man repeatedly stabs a man in the chest and then chops his leg off with an axe. We see lots of blood and splattering, as well as the blood spray from the severed foot.

-A man is hanged with a rope.

-A man is stabbed in the stomach. It is very bloody. Some guts fall out.

-A woman is raped in a shower.

-We see, from a distance, a man killing a rabbit. We see some blood.

-A woman's hand is cut off with an electric meat cutter. We see blood shoot out all over the window and we see the severed hand and blood squirt out of the bloody stump.

-A man is shot with a shotgun.

-A man is strangled to death.

-A pregnant woman stabs herself in the stomach when she learns that she and her baby have rabies. We see much blood squirt from the wound.

-A corpse of a man who has been stabbed in the neck with a pitchfork is shown. We see some blood.

-A woman performs self-immolation.

-A man holds the bloodied corpse of a goat. It's gross and bloody.

-A man's head is chopped off. We see the man wag around the severed head. We see a lot of blood on the head and all over the man's body.

-A man bites another man's throat. Blood pours out.

-A man in impaled through the back and out the mouth with a sword. There is lots of blood and gore.

-A man is shot in the eye. We see a huge open gash in his face and around his eyeball.

-A woman is bitten on the hand.

-A group of crazed rabid people rock a car back and forth and flip it over.

-Several people are shot to death by the police. We see the bloody aftermath.

Profanity

Some uses of the word "shit", "damn", "ass" and "hell".

Hippies take LSD among other narcotics.

The entire film is remarkably intense and full of shock scares. There's a shock every few minutes. The intense tone and horror of the film is quite constant and relentless.
