O'Neal Dealer Dubs Actress A 'Liar'

16 July 2008 6:29 PM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Tatum O'Neal has been branded a liar by the man arrested for selling her drugs in New York last month.

Allen Garcia claims O'Neal hounded him for crack cocaine after he had approached her begging for money - and he accuses her of breaking a promise to help him.

Speaking to the National Enquirer from New York's Riker's Island jail, Garcia says, "She said in an interview that she was going to help me, but neither she nor anyone else connected with her has contacted me since I've been in here."

And Garcia insists the Paper Moon star should feel compelled to help him - because she's the reason he's behind bars.

He adds, "She took a long look at me and immediately started questioning me about drugs. She was very insistent and wouldn't take no for an answer, or leave me alone."

After they negotiated a price, Garcia claims he went off to buy the drugs. When he returned, cops swooped on the pair, arresting both.

The 44-year-old actress pleaded guilty to misdemeanour charges and was fined and ordered to attend two half day drug-treatment classes. Garcia, 31, claims he now faces deportation to Mexico.

O'Neal Determined To Get It Right After Drug Shame

7 July 2008 6:30 PM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Latest: Troubled actress Tatum O'Neal is determined to win over New York authorities with her efforts as a good citizen and mum after pleading guilty to disorderly conduct.

The 44-year-old star, a reforming heroin addict, was arrested by police last month after they spotted her exchanging money with a drug dealer near her New York home.

By pleading guilty to the charges against her, O'Neal avoided jail time, but she was ordered to spend two half-day sessions in a drug treatment program.

And the Paper Moon star insists she's determined to clean up her act so that charges against her will be dropped when she returns to court on 4 September.

She says, "I was relieved by the sentence, and now it's back to my kids, the 12 steps (program) and work."

O'Neal Arrested On Drugs Charge

2 June 2008 5:11 AM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Troubled actress Tatum O'Neal has been arrested for buying crack from a drug dealer on the streets of New York.

The Oscar-winning former child star - who chronicled her recovery from a heroin addiction in her 2004 book A Paper Life - was spotted by a narcotics team exchanging money with a man three blocks from her home in the Big Apple.

The actress, daughter of actor Ryan O'Neal, initially told cops she was "doing research for a part", according to a police source.

But, after authorities searched her and found two bags of drugs and a crack pipe, she changed her story, the source adds.

According to the New York Daily News, she pleaded with cops: "I've been clean for a long time. Today was the first time I was relapsing, but you guys saved me! Can you let me go?"

The Paper Moon star, 44, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanour.

The incident comes just eight months after the star publicly urged singer Britney Spears to seek "recovery and get her disease of addiction together".

O'Neal became the youngest ever Academy Award winner at the age of 10, when she won Best Supporting Actress for her role in Paper Moon.
