A down on his luck gambler links up with free spirit Elliot Gould at first to have some fun on, but then gets into debt when Gould takes an unscheduled trip to Tijuana. As a final act of desperation, he pawns most of his possessions and goes to Reno for the poker game of a lifetime. Did You Know?
After being housed at various different studios, the script ended up being produced by Columbia with Robert Altman
on board as director. Altman loved Joseph Walsh
's script but was also known for heavily tinkering with screenplays. He and Walsh had some very volatile meetings over changes as Walsh was heavily opposed to making any alterations to his script. See more
