Behind The Scenes: Will Ferrell And Mark Wahlberg Are The Other Guys

16 December 2009 7:40 PM, PST | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Adam McKay's latest Will Ferrell vehicle, The Other Guys, claims to be a movie about those two hesitant guys in the background of every buddy cop movie, the guys who want to be the Mel Gibsons and Danny Glovers, the Martin Lawrence and Will Smith wannabes. I was under the impression that that movie had already been made, the painfully spoofy film version of Starsky and Hutch. But the thing about McKay's movies is that the plot is rarely important, since it's just a means of allowing Will Ferrell to say hilariously random shit. MTV.com has a look behind the scenes of The Other Guys, and the only thing the footage seems to accomplish is making Samuel L. Jackson look oddly tiny in comparison to Dwayne Johnson (the two play the badass cops). As with most featurettes, we don't really get much of an idea idea of how …

Snoop Dogg Thinks He Is The Ideal Candidate To Step Into Oprah Winfrey’s Shoes

27 November 2009 10:37 AM, PST | Gossipvita | See recent Gossipvita news »

The ‘Signs’ rapper claims he is the ideal candidate to take over from the legendary talk show host when she stops making her self-titled programme in 2010.

He said: “I’m trying to proposition the networks right now. If you’re wanting a nice, black, exciting young male who wants to turn the TV world right up – get at me. “I heard Oprah Winfrey is leaving and there’s nobody who can do what Oprah did but, ahem – hello! Hello!” Snoop would also make his talk show a family affair. He added: “I can bring my wife on so we can have the women and the men on there discussing things.” Snoop’s previous TV experience started in 2002 with his MTV sketch show ‘Doggy Fizzle Televizzle’, and also includes his own reality show ‘Snoop Dogg’s Fatherhood’ and appearances in movies including ‘Old School’ and ‘Starsky and Hutch’. He has also …

'A-Team' Film Will Feature Cameo by Original Series Actor

9 November 2009 9:20 PM, PST | CinemaSpy | See recent CinemaSpy news »

Actor Dwight Schultz, who played "Howling Mad" Murdock on the original A-Team series, revealed some interesting info on his official site recently. Repeatedly asked if he would have a cameo in the new A-Team feature film, the actor confirmed — through the folks running his site — that he would.

"We are pleased to inform you all that Dwight has actually already been working in Vancouver, where he has played a cameo role in The A-Team movie," sources for the site stated.

Apparently Schultz met Sharlto Copely (District 9), who is playing Murdock in the movie, and called the South African actor "brilliant beyond words," and adding that if he is as great as he was during the screen test, "Murdock will be better than ever."

We're not quite sure why series-to-feature remakes typically offer token appearances to original series cast members; whether it's a tip of the hat or an attempt …

Soul's Stunts Aggravated Back Pain

29 October 2009 5:06 AM, PDT | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Starsky And Hutch star David Soul has opened up about the crippling back pain he has suffered for the last three decades.

The actor has struggled with chronic aches and has even undergone three operations in an attempt to improve his condition, which he believes may have been exacerbated by the dangerous stunts he's performed onscreen.

Now Soul is lending his star power to a $1.6 million (£1 million) medical appeal to fund research into preventing back problems.

He explains, "What I'm mostly concerned about is that although I've been a sufferer over all these years, and probably not a lot can be done for me, it certainly can for other people.

"That's one of the reasons for this charity - the most significant point of this is to understand the causes in order to prevent it and treat it.

"Basically (the money will be spent) on researching the underlying causes of back pain - all kinds of back pain, whether it's nerve-related or muscle-related, if it's genetic. We'll even be dealing with stem cell research as well."

Soul is unsure if he'll ever be relieved of his symptoms, but he's grateful the affliction hasn't hindered his Hollywood career.

He adds, "It (stunts) didn't help. I think a lot of the action stuff that I've done in films over the years probably hasn't helped the situation very much.

"Thankfully it's never kept me from working. I've worked through the pain. You have to learn to live with pain. There's a threshold and you can live within that threshold. I'm in pain now, every day of my life I'm in pain. But somehow I can get through it." …

Har Mar Superstar Breaks Through With 'Tall Boy' Video, Fallon Performance

27 October 2009 9:23 AM, PDT | MTV Music News | See recent MTV Music News news »

Funk singer made a memorable appearance on 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon' this week.

Har Mar Superstar performs on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" on Monday

Photo: NBC

You'd be excused if the word "legend" was not the first honorific that sprang to mind after watching Har Mar Superstar on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" on Monday night. But that's how the former "SNL" star referred to the Minnesota funketeer (a.k.a. Sean Tillman) after he tore down the house with a performance of his body-quaking new single, "Tall Boy."

The electro tune — which is full of double entrendres about sex, big beers and ... well, mostly sex — has been turning heads over the past few weeks, thanks to an appropriately Wtf-worthy sci-fi video, starring actress Eva Mendes. The "2 Fast 2 Furious" star spends most of the clip getting blasted with glitter amid scenes of girly pillow fights, a …

Har Mar Superstar Conquers 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon'

27 October 2009 7:10 AM, PDT | MTV Newsroom | See recent MTV Newsroom news »

If you're like me, you woke up Tuesday morning (like, really, really early), stumbled down to your underground media bunker (not as sexy as it sounds) and did a triple take when you saw the phrase "Har Mar Superstar" at the very top of Google Trends. Like, above Rudolph Valentino and the hot Mormon muffins calendar.

But we were probably confused for different reasons. See, I know who Har Mar is. In fact, I'm a huge fan of the balding, tubby Minnesota hunk of white funk thunder who bears an uncanny resemblance to Jon Lovitz' character in "The Critic." The singer (who also records under the name Sean Na Na and whose given name is Sean Tillman) has been making waves the past few weeks thanks to the outrageously weird video for the first single, "Tall Boy," from his new album, Dark Touches. In case you haven't seen it, …

Take a trip to the '70s with 'Life on Mars: The Complete Set'

6 October 2009 4:47 AM, PDT | Denver Movies Examiner | See recent Denver Movies Examiner news »

The short lived ABC drama Life on Mars was yanked off the air after 17 episodes thanks to sagging viewership. Adapted from the British show by the same name, Life on Mars takes viewers on a funky trip to the early ’70s through Detective Sam Tyler who mysteriously finds himself in the happenin’ year of 1973. The rub? Sam is actually from 2008. Odd? Yes. The connection? He’s working on it, but his travel to the time of disco, cocaine and big ol’ sideburns may have something to do with the case he was working on in ‘08.

It’s a travesty that the show couldn’t find a large enough fan-base since the retro cop drama is well-written and was executed almost flawlessly. The series also manages to contrast social commentary on current events with an authentic ’70s vibe and feel. Think Rockford Files, Kojak and Starsky and Hutch mixed with the entire CSI franchise. …

More Set Photos from ‘The A-Team’

3 October 2009 9:00 AM, PDT | The Flickcast | See recent The Flickcast news »

As more and more news comes out about Joe Carnahan’s upcoming remake of The A-Team I’ve grown very interested, and anxious. When I first heard about the film I was skeptical. Was this to be another comedic derivitive of a somewhat serious show much like the Starsky and Hutch movie starring Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson?

Alright, I realize there was something inherently funny about the original A-Team series, but it was the Eighties and that’s what television was like back then. Strip away the one liners and jabs and the core of the show made an effort to follow a somewhat serious vein.

To that end, it appears Carnahan is determined to make this a great action film (If you’ve seen Smokin’ Aces, you’ll know what I’m talking about) based on some more set photos. Testament to this are the shots of Bradley Cooper

With Paul Lynde on the set of Bye Bye Birdie Normal 0 false false false En-us X-none X-none MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 If you came of age during the Sixties, you may well remember the name Lada Edmund, Jr.  who was one of the original gyrating, mini-skirted go-go girls who danced in a cage on NBC-tv’s music program, Hullabaloo 1965-66.  Similar to ABC’s Shindig, Hullabaloo featured a different celebrity host each week to introduce some of the most popular musical performers of the day.  However, the show received most of its press not for the rock groups or vocalists that guest starred but for Lada and fellow dancers who bumped, grinded and twisted their way into the homes of teenagers every week.  So popular was she that she landed on the cover of TV Guide magazine.

Before she found TV fame, Lada began her career dancing on Broadway. She was one of …
