The movie concerns on Popeye Doyle(Gene Hackman) who trips to Marsaille following the French connection and tries track down to the evil Alain Charnier(Fernado Rey),the smuggling ring chief, who escaped of N.Y.C.There, he unites with the French gendarmes(Bernard Fresson and Jean Pierre Castaldi).
The picture is following up of ¨French Connection¨(Willian Friedkin) but didn't obtain the same success and was a box office's flop. However is considered a good film and is highly rated. In the movie there are action, suspense, violence, intrigue and a little bit humor at charge of Popeye Doyle in his relations with the Frenchmen. The film narrates a certain social critical to the French customs and there's specially a banter of French Police called gendarmerie. The motion picture has action packed but the intervening period when the starring is abducted, is bored ,with overlong scenes besides quite disagreeable thus as he's injected with heroin. Interpretation Gene Hackman as the rebel and nonconformist Popeye Doyle is top notch as well as the previous film for that attained an Academy Award.Fernando Rey repeats perfectly his role as the elegant and cunning nasty and the secondary casting constituted by French actors are very fine. Rating: Very Good and well worth watching.
