Lips of Blood is another of Jean Rollin's stylish and dreamy (not to mention creepy) exercises in waif-like partly clothed vampires on the prowl, and if they don't get your interest then nothing will. A man dreams of a castle where he supposedly had some sort of incident when he was a child, and then he sees a picture of this castle at someone's home during a party and they won't tell him where it is. He is obsessed because he thinks there was a young woman there then that he slept next to during the night he spent there (platonically, these are kids, even in a Rollin film he has his limits, OK?). It seems that the man is being protected from his childhood memories by his mother but he manages to find what he's looking for despite her best efforts. The vampires he has accidentally loosed are gorgeous as usual, wearing pastel gowns with all the body-concealing power of cling wrap. This is very dream-like but also pretty creepy too, and the story line is minimal, so just settle back and enjoy the visual feast. 8 out of 10.
