Storyline

Leonard Nimoy hosted this quasi-documentary television show which portrayed unusual natural phenomena and 'investigated' the paranormal. Its style of interspersing 'talking heads' with sensationalistic video segments may have been the forerunner of 'info-tainment.' Written by Tad Dibbern <DIBBERN_D@a1.mscf.upenn.edu>

a quasi science show on myth and superstition..documentary format
10 April 2001 | by See all my reviews

IN SEARCH OF is a classic. The show was a documentary format show on strange occurrences, disapperances, phenomenom, ancient cultures, etc. Many of the topics included STONEHENGE, LOCH NESS, ESP, etc. The show was not bad for the time in which it was produced and was fun. I didn't always agree with the ideas on the show, yet, it was entertaining. The show did episodes on myth and superstition as well. The show has the same format and look as the MONDO movies Rod Serling narrated that were equally as fun, yet dated by todays standards. The weekly syndicated series was for skeptics as well as believers. I am not a skeptic yet, tend to hold the pessimism of the sagan line of thought. This however, does not detract from the shows success in syndication or it's watchability. COSMOS was oriented in science this show was oriented in the dark shroud of myth and usually presented both sides of a argument..the believers stance and the skeptic stance. Of note were episodes on the LUSITANIA and TRUK LAGOON.
