Avatar star Sam Worthington is not going to play Flash Gordon. In late 2009, a super mysterious insider said that Worthington was being considered for the role of Flash in a Hollywood reboot, a long-rumored project that is mostly regarded as pure bullplop.
Worthington agrees: The Aussie actor set the record straight. “There is no validity to the rumors,” he said via email to AICN. “Sometimes studios tend to just scat ideas and they leak out – but its the first I have heard about it.”
In 1980’s Flash Gordon, heroic All-American Flash saves the world from the nefarious Ming the Merciless in this lavish, intentionally campy adaptation of the famous sci-fi comic strip. The story is as basic as space operas get: Ming (Max von Sydow) has developed a plan to destroy the Earth, and Flash (Sam J. Jones) and his attractive companion, Dale Arden (Melody Anderson), are called upon to stop him. »

In May 2008, a new big-screen remake of Flash Gordon was announced after Sony and producer Neil Moritz acquired the rights.
Breck Eisner was hired to direct the feature and in April this year he promised us he would steer away from the campness of the 1980 version, which starred Sam J Jones and is best known for its theme song by Queen and for Brian Blessed swooping around as the prince of the Hawkmen.
Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless were hired as writers. The duo have also penned Dracula Year Zero, to be directed by Alex Proyas.
Nothing more was heard about Flash Gordon until showbiz gossip site Hollyscoop recently reported that Australian rising star Sam Worthington was up against Ryan Reynolds for the lead role of Flash.
The site claimed a source had said: "Right now it's between Sam, Ryan Reynolds and one or two others for the lead role »

A new short teaser trailer for Toy Story 3 has come out, this one giving us a glimpse of a new toy called Mr. Pricklepants played by Timothy Dalton. A short introduction by Toy Story 3 director Lee Unkrich introduces us to the new character and Lee talks about what we can expect from this latest chapter in the Toy Story series. I wonder if they're actually going to stop at 3 or make another one, because I'm sure this one will be one of the highest grossing films of the year. Nice to see Timothy Dalton in well, anything. I was always a fan of the guy, from being the almost nemesis in Flash Gordon to his devilish charms in The Rocketeer to playing Bond himself, he's always been fun to watch on screen. And with Michael Keaton playing Ken, this sequel just might be the best of the Toy Story bunch. »

Avatar star Sam Worthington is not going to play Flash Gordon, nor Flesh Gordon for that matter. In late 2009, a super mysterious insider said that Worthington was being considered for the role of Flash in a Hollywood reboot, a long-rumored project that has about as much stock in reality as Dr. Dre’s Detox album.
The Aussie actor set the record straight. “There is no validity to the rumours,” he said via email to AICN. “Sometimes studios tend to just scat ideas and they leak out – but its the first I have heard about it.”
Ha. “Scat.”
A new Flash Gordon wasn’t the only bullplop for Worthington, who also starred in Terminator Salvation. He was rumored to play the lead in Mad Max 4: Fury Road. The role was eventually won by Tom Hardy.

While there's very little new material in the new Toy Story 3 featurette Drawn to Animation, what little there is has premium fan value. Finally, we're given our first look at Mr. Pricklepants, the pretentious thespian stuffed-toy Hedgehog who seems set to be one of the major additions to the cast. Of course, we still have no idea at all what role he actually plays in the story. Maybe he's fundamental, maybe he's not but you can pretty much guarantee he won't just be an irrelevant adjunct. Those kind of narrative loose ends just don't exist in Pixar pictures. See the full clip for yourself after this break and get to hear Pricklepants speak. He's been voiced by Timothy Dalton, who has probably the most geek-centric resume of any Bond - Dr. Who, Hot Fuzz, some Ghibli dubbing, Looney Tunes, even the Flash Gordon movie...
