The Hangover goes on UK bus tour to mark DVD and Blu-ray release

2 December 2009 3:39 PM, PST | The Geek Files | See recent The Geek Files news »

Bradley Cooper may have lost out on playing Green Lantern to Ryan Reynolds but he is stepping into another iconic hero role when he plays Lt. Templeton 'Faceman' Peck in next summer's big-screen remake of The A-Team.

If you recall the original 80s TV show, you'll know Dirk Benedict played Faceman back then - and he will have a cameo in the new movie.

Meanwhile, Cooper, 34, was this year in hit comedy The Hangover, which comes out on DVD and Blu-ray in the UK on Monday, December 7.

And to mark the release, a Hangover-themed party bus is touring the UK searching for the wildest confession of a night out and the most outrageous city. The tour includes two stops in nearby Birmingham.

The Hangover Bus will be packed with hangover cures, from the usual classics like water and energy drinks to the more unusual and underrated. It will be looked …

Sharlto Copley’s A-Team Birthday Cake

28 November 2009 2:54 PM, PST | Slash Film | See recent Slash Film news »

Many of you know Sharlto Copley from his feature acting debut in District 9 (speaking of which, am I the only one crazy enough to believe that Copley should get some recognition for his performance come awards time, but realistically won't). Copley is playing Capt. 'Howling Mad' Murdock in The A-Team movie. /Film tipster Jimmy Jab sent over this photo, which he claims features a cake Copley's mother sent to the set of The A-Team for her son's birthday (Sharlto turned 36 on November 27th). The cake features a photo of a young Copley who was celebrating his own birthday with a cake featuring Mr. T as A-Team member B.A. Baracus. How cool is that? Check out a photo of the full cake after the jump. …

Another Original 'A-Team' Member Confirms Cameo

28 November 2009 12:39 AM, PST | GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news »

As much as we may hate to admit it, the early indications are that The A-Team is moving in the right direction. The casting for at least three of the key roles seems perfect, we know with Joe Carnahan directing it probably won't be as 80s campy, shifting instead to a grittier approach, and the van is back. About the only thing that can screw it up is TV cast member cameos.

Damn it: Dirk Benedict just revealed on Dirk Benedict Central that he will film his role in Vancouver. He follows Dwight Schultz, the original "Howling Mad" Murdock, in announcing his walk-on role. That leaves only World of Warcraft pitchman Mr. T...and I think you know what he'll say. …

Original Faceman To Make Cameo in Carnahan's A-Team

27 November 2009 8:22 AM, PST | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

It's always sad when when the crew behind the new TV project tries to get the old cast members to make cameos. The whole things seems like a desperate attempt to not only appease a fan base, but also, in some sick way, it feels like the offer is payment for ruining something that people used to enjoy. Unless the desired 70s TV star has been missing and presumed dead for the last 40 years, it's not really that interesting. The most recent project to do this is Joe Carnahan's The A-Team, which, earlier this month, roped in Dwight Schultz, the original "Howling Mad" Murdock. Now they have two out of three. Much like how Schultz's cameo was discovered, the fan club of Dirk Benedict (via Cinematical), who played "Faceman" Peck in the original series, has confirmed that the actor will be making an appearance in the remake. In the film, …

Dirk Benedict To Cameo in The A-Team

27 November 2009 12:20 AM, PST | Slash Film | See recent Slash Film news »

Earlier this month, we learned that Dwight Schultz, the original Howling Mad Murdock, would be making a cameo in the Joe Carnahan's big screen film adaptation of The A-Team. Cinematical now has word that Dirk Benedict, who played Templeton "Faceman" Peck in the original television series, also has a cameo. Mr. T, who many will remember as the original B.A. Baracus, has said publicly that he was offered a cameo but turned it down, explaining "it's insulting me to ask me to be in it [as someone else]. It's just like my ex-girlfriend saying 'Why don't you come out to dinner with my new boyfriend?' You see what I mean? I am not going to do that." …

Dirk Benedict to Cameo in ‘The A-Team’

26 November 2009 8:00 AM, PST | The Flickcast | See recent The Flickcast news »

When official word came that Dwight Shultz, the original Murdock, would be appearing in the new A-Team movie we were anxious to know if any other actors would be involved. Well, good news A-Team fans, because the original Faceman, Dirk Benedict, will be making an appearance as well. While no details were provided, his official website did state he would be involved:

“Dirk has just announced to this website that he has two projects in the works beginning with a cameo appearance in the new “The A-Team” film, which is currently shooting in Vancouver Canada.”

This is great news and means the only member of the original cast to confirm is Mr. T.  Hopefully he’ll come on board and make this the trifecta of casting for a film remake. Sadly, George Peppard will not be returning having passed away in 1994. However, maybe Melinda Culea, Amy Allen on the original series, …

The A-Team Meets The A-Team – Cameo News!

26 November 2009 5:36 AM, PST | FilmShaft.com | See recent FilmShaft.com news »

Still loving this promo shot for the upcoming “The A-Team” film by director Joe Carnahan. Just look how cool they all look! Especially Sharlto Copely. Maybe I’m being a bit biased seeing as District 9is my film of the year but they have completely nailed the casting for this film. The first set of pictures was released months ago with the promo stuff following in October and they did enough to send shock waves throughout the entire A-Team loving community.

The pictures of the main cast looked great and with what I can only assume is more than solid support from Patrick Wilson this is going to be one huge thrill ride.

As if us fans didn’t have enough to look forward too news filtered through a couple of weeks ago that Dwight Schultz, the original Howlin’ Mad Murdock would feature in a cameo. Now it seems he …

Dirk Benedict Confirms Cameo in the New A-Team Movie

26 November 2009 1:22 AM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Here’s some news which was bound to surface sooner or later. Dirk Benedict has confirmed via DirkBenedictCentral.com that he’ll be appearing in the new The A-Team movie with a cameo part.

As I say, this comes as no surprise to me as anyone who’ll appear in the celebrity version of Big Brother in the UK will surely be part of a big budget movie given half the chance! With Dwight Schultz confirming a couple of weeks ago that he’ll be in the movie, all we need now is the big man, Mr. T to get involved and we have ourselves a movie!

Joe Carnahan is directing the new movie which stars Bradley Cooper as Lt. Templeton ‘Faceman’ Peck, Liam Neeson as Col John ‘Hannibal’ Smith, Sharlto Copley as Captain ‘Howling Mad’ Murdock, Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson as Sgt Bosco ‘B.A.’ Baracus and Jessica Biel as their female sidekick. …

Arnold Laven obituary

Producer-director behind a raft of 20th-century TV classics

It is no exaggeration to declare that the name of the film and television producer-director Arnold Laven, who has died aged 87, has been seen by millions of people all over the world, even if it might not have registered. Think of all those viewers of the TV series The Rifleman (1959-63) and The Big Valley (1965-69), made by Laven's company, Levy-Gardner-Laven Productions, many episodes of which he directed.

Laven was also credited as director on scores of episodes of such archetypal 1970s series as Marcus Welby MD, Gunsmoke, Mannix, Ironside, The Six Million Dollar Man, The Rockford Files and Fantasy Island. In the 1980s he directed, among others, several episodes of Hill Street Blues and The A-Team. In addition, Laven directed 11 feature films from 1952 to 1969, some for companies other than his own.

In the late 1930s, the Chicago-born Laven moved with his family to Los Angeles, …

'A-Team' Movie Features Cameo from Dirk Benedict

24 November 2009 9:20 PM, PST | CinemaSpy | See recent CinemaSpy news »

Earlier this month we reported that director Joe Carnahan's A-Team movie will feature a cameo by original series actor Dwight Schultz. Today comes word that another member of the original show's cast will apparently appear in the film, too.

According to Dirk Benedict Central (and reported by Cinematical), Dirk Benedict, who played Templeton "Faceman" Peck, will have a cameo as well.

Dirk has just announced to this website that he has two projects in the works beginning with a cameo appearance in the new "The A-Team" film, which is currently shooting in Vancouver Canada.

We're not sure if such cameos help or hinder these sorts of remakes; god knows the Paul Michael Glaser & David Soul cameos at the end of Todd Phillips' 2004 Starsky & Hutch feature film were a self-serving add-on that would have been best left out altogether.

The A-Team also stars Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Jessica Biel, …

There’s a lot of anticipation for the upcoming The A-Team film.  Most of the hype is probably being generated by yours truly. What can I say? I really want to see this film be a huge success.

Well, let me add to the hype machine with news that the original “Howling Mad” Murdoch will have a cameo in the new movie. According to the official Dwight Shultz site:

“We are pleased to inform you all that Dwight has actually already been working in Vancouver, where he has played a cameo role in The A-Team movie. Sharlto Copely, the South African actor who plays Murdock, is according to Dwight: ‘brilliant beyond words’. Winona Ryder (pictured) is in talks to star in Darren Aronofsky's supernatural thriller Black Swan, it's been confirmed.

Set in the New York City ballet world, the story centres on a dancer (Natalie Portman) vying for the lead role in Swan Lake; she encounters a mysterious rival (Mila Kunis) who appears to be some kind of doppelganger or apparition.

Ryder will play a fellow ballerina. Vincent Cassel and Barbara Hershey will also join the cast, according to Slashfilm.

Rachel McAdams is in talks to play antihero/love interest Black Cat in Spider-Man 4, according to a report on Mania.

The site also claims a new male villain is being cast in the film. This could mean that Dylan Baker's character Curt Connors would not finally become reptilian baddie the Lizard, because Baker is already in the cast.
