Ghostbusters 3 Confirmed And Moving Forward!

6 hours ago | The Humor Mill | See recent The Humor Mill news »

As we previously reported several months back it was officially confirmed by Director Ivan Reitman on the red carpet of the new Avatar film yesterday; Ghostbusters 3 is moving forward.

This now falls in line to the other reports and so-called verbal “slips” by the cast including Dan Aykroyd and Signourney Weaver, who will both be joining the cast of Bill Murray, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson.

We hear that the story is moving forward with the cast and a new script while the Producers intend to bring back the old characters, they also intend to introduce new characters to the team, basically a “new generation” stated Aykroyd. He also stated that he would like to see an influx of some new characters join the team, and they may be female members, and two actresses he likes in particular are Alyssa Milano and Eliza Dushku.

The producers are also looking for …

Sigourney Weaver Talks Ghostbusters 3 ... Again

16 December 2009 10:57 AM, PST | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

It was only a matter of time before someone confronted Sigourney Weaver about her loose-lipped Ghostbusters 3 activity. So, what gives? Is Murray a ghost or not?

Sigourney was a lot more vague this go around with MTV. When asked, she replied, "I don't know. He could come back as a sort of Slimer character." She continues, "I haven't read the script ... I guess my little son Oscar who was kidnapped is a Ghostbuster, which makes me very proud."

Haven't read the script. Have read the script. I call shenanigans. Watch the whole video below.

Exclusive: Sigourney Weaver Sets The Record Straight On Her 'Ghostbusters III' Spoilage... Sort Of

16 December 2009 9:00 AM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

It was as if she fired off a positively charged stream of proton-packed gossip into the blogosphere: "Ghostbusters" star Sigourney Weaver recently let slip during a press conference that in the upcoming third franchise installment Bill Murray might play a ghost, and that her son Oscar from "Ghostbuster 2" might work for the family business in the coming sequel. Here's what she had to say when MTV's Josh Horowitz caught up with her at the "Avatar" junket in London...

Tantalizing stuff, right? I mean seriously... will Bill Murray really be a ghost?

"I don't know," she told our own Josh Horowitz. "He could come back as a sort of Slimer character."

A Slimer? The very room service-chomping blob of green Jell-o that attacked him in the first film and gave him the catchphrase-worthy line, "He slimed me"? That's a pretty specific reference from Weaver, and it leads us to believe what …

Sigourney Weaver Updates Ghostbusters 3

15 December 2009 2:44 AM, PST | Reelzchannel.com | See recent ReelzChannel news »

Looks like Ghostbusters 3 is more than "just a bunch of talk". Sigourney Weaver not only told Channel4 that a third Ghostbusters "is happening," she also gave away a few spoilers.

I'm afraid to say [Ghostbusters 3] is happening, I hope people are excited about that. I don't know if I'm going to be in it, I have had a couple of calls asking "would you read the script".

I know that my little son Oscar — who was kidnapped from me — I think he has grown up to be a ghostbuster. I might be in it; I see nothing wrong with being in it, although I don't think I will have a big part. I think Bill Murray has a little more to do with it — he's a ghost.

For the third movie, The Office writers Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg are writing the screenplay, and if what Weaver says is true, are …

Sigourney Weaver Discusses Ghostbusters 3, Complete With Potential Spoilers

14 December 2009 8:05 AM, PST | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

You gotta love celebrities and their notoriously loose lips. During a press junket for James Cameron’s risky cinematic venture “Avatar,” actress Sigourney Weaver was forced to deal with a number of questions regarding “Ghostbusters 3,” a movie which will probably be a lot more fun in our heads than it will on the big screen. Over the course of the interview, she revealed that her son from the movie may, in fact, become a card-carrying member of the Ghostbusters team, a plot detail which actually doesn’t sound too incredibly awful. However, the most intriguing aspect of this Q&A session is, perhaps, something I’m sure scribes Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky would like to keep under their respective hats. Whether or not there’s any validity to her words remains to be seen. Regardless, it gives me something to write about. Here’s the quote: I’m afraid to say it [Ghostbuster 3] is happening, …

Weekend Recap: James Cameron, Nude Scenes, Zombies, and 'Invictus'

14 December 2009 5:02 AM, PST | GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news »

Avatar opens this week, and the dean of film critics has chimed in. We've got a link to Ebert's review below. But it was also recently revealed that James Cameron's next movie, at least as a producer, is a remake of a classic bit of sci-fi. That should be interesting.

There was also a Roman Polanski update, a new Clash of the Titans trailer, and the news that Natalie Portman will fight zombies. I suspect there will be quite a line to audition for the role of a zombie in that one. Who wouldn't want to devour Natalie Portman, after all?
