As always seems to be the case, if you want spoilers on the hottest movies today, you need to have your eyes on the world of plastic!
Mezco may have lost the New Line House of Horrors license to Neca, but it seems they'll be dishing out some A Nightmare on Elm Street goodness alongside the new film anyway. Your Living Dead Dolls and Mez-Itz collections are about to get some new fiends! The new Freddy Krueger Living Dead Doll is due out March of 2010. Although we don't have a release date for the Mez-Itz 6-inch figure, we suspect it will drop around the same time.
As a bonus, we've also uncovered a Perseus Mez-Itz figure from the new Clash of the Titans film! Does this mean we'll be getting new Clash of the Titans action figures??!! Seems a no-brainer, but whether we'll get them at all and whom they »

There have been many filmed versions of the collection of folk stories and other tales called the One Thousand and One Nights, better known in the Us as the Arabian Nights. Now we can add one more to the pile. Who's directing? That would be Chuck Russell, a man whose films span a broad range of quality: A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 (fairly awesome), The Blob remake (great stuff), The Mask (starting to worry) and The Scorpion King (uh-oh). Where's this Arabian Nights going to fall on his best to worst list? Variety reports that Russell has co-written the picture with Barry P. Ambrose. Budgeted at $70m, the film is planned to start next spring. The angle is that the story offers 'a new spin,' which is often code for 'we've slapped familiar names on some stuff we made up over beers.' Indeed, the trade says the film »

Another day, another remake. Today I am sad to report that the 1942 classic Arabian Nights is going to be ravaged in a $70 million remake being directed by Chuck Russell. Variety reports that Russell, whose credits include A Nightmare on Elm Street: Part III, The Blob, The Mask, Eraser, and The Scorpion King, will be "reworking" Arabian Nights into a 3D film with a "new spin on the classic" story. In this version, we will follow a young commander who, after his king is killed in a palace coup, joins forces with Sinbad, Aladdin and his genie to rescue Scheherazade and her kingdom from dark powers. Sounds like it'll be a good time. "Through the use of a new generation of visual technologies, we will be able to quite literally take audiences around the world on a magic carpet ride," Russell said. I hope that quote gave you chills. I »

A New adaptation of the Eastern folk tales collection Arabian Nights is on its way to the big screen - and, in line with the growing trend, it will be in 3D.
Chuck Russell, who co-wrote the script with Barry P. Ambrose, is to direct the fantasy adventure.
He previously helmed 1987's A Nightmare on Elm Street 3, the 80s remake of The Blob, The Mask, Eraser and Scorpion King.
Variety reports that Arabian Nights has a $70million budget and will be financed by Inferno Entertainment, with production set to begin in April.
The story follows a young commander who, after his king is killed in a palace coup, joins forces with Sinbad, Aladdin and his genie to rescue Persian queen Scheherazade and her kingdom from dark powers.
Russell said: "Through the use of a new generation of visual technologies, we will be able to quite literally take audiences around the »

Thanks for reading my “Vs” series of articles over the last 3-4 days. I took on Jason Vorhees, Michael Myers and Freddy Krueger and i feel slightly disturbed afer seeing so much blood, gore and murder.
After 29 films, over 43 hours of horror, over 600 gallons of blood, over 270 slaughtered people shared between three iconic horror movie icons, here is the verdict of who is the champion slasher.
Firstly all three characters have provided me with an incredibly fun experience as i have not seen all the films before and watching them in sequence has added more enjoyment and also annoyance in seeing how the characters develop, how the stories evolve and how the mythology of each character has grown.
A consistent factor of all three characters is that their stories all followed a complete nonsense storyline linking one sequel to the next that tried to add something new each time which »

It’s a bit late but to finally end my Halloween champion Slasher report on who is the king out of Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers and Freddy Krueger, I have watched the entire back catalogue of their films and given a run down on each characters franchise story and best kills.
Part 1 was on Jason, Part 2 was Michael Myers and finally Part 3 is on the killing Dream Demon Freddy Krueger.
Set on Elm Street, Freddy is the reason I struggled to sleep through the late 80’s due to being terrified of him visiting me in my dreams.
Beware pictures of blood, a lot of gushing blood and other violent deaths.
And so a little rhyme to begin this story:
One, two, Freddy’s coming for you.
Three, Four, Better Lock your door.
Five, Six, grab your Crucifix.
Seven, Eight, Gonna stay up late.
Nine, Ten, Never sleep again.

Looks like Platinum Dunes reboot of the A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise had a test screening in El Segundo last week, and one attendee sent in their impressions to Ain't it Cool News. The verdict? It ain't that cool, read on for more. A reader calling themselves 'Skin Peeler' says 'the film needs some serious work'. We've pulled out a few more choice quotes from the review below. 'The remake keeps many of the scenes from the original script. It unfor tunately is missing a couple more shocking parts from the original like the glorious Johnny Depp bed fountain, the 'tentacle raep' phone-call tongue and cuts away just before a sexy bathroom butt shot causing a big,... »

--Sylvester Stallone has opened up on the secret scene in "The Expendables" featuring himself, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger and my greatest dreams come to life. According to the actor, Willis plays the man who hires Stallone and his titular team for "a death-defying mission," but there's another operative that could take on the job — none other than Stallone's longtime rival, played by Schwarzenegger. "I talked about this scene with these guys for a long time, but I never thought it would come to fruition," said Stallone. (PopWatch)

The boys over at AICN have landed the first review from a recent screening of the “A Nightmare on Elm Street” remake, and the word is … mediocre? That’s just one fella’s opinion, but perhaps the biggest news is that the reviewer seems to get this nagging suspicion that the movie was going for a PG-13 rating, given the general lack of gore and T&A throughout the film. You can read the entire review for yourself over at AICN, but here’s a nice excerpt that sums up the reviewer’s thoughts. So the version I saw tonight could have been an excellent remake. At this point it’s at mearly ‘mediocre’ status in my mind, but with possible ‘good’ potential. I want for it to be good and I would love to see more of Haley. I don’t know what can be done at this point »

A test screening review of A Nightmare on Elm Street is in courtesy of a sneaky Ain't It Cool News reader. The verdict? He says "it needs work." In this spoiler-ridden critique , the reader says, "Bay and the director obviously wanted to Dark Knight / Saw it up by adding layer of grit and reality to A Nightmare on Elm Street . The set and makeup departments did an excellent job: Freddy looks like a freakish burn victim, many of the dream and flashback scenes are dark and have that 'Silent Hill' feel. It's like they watched a bunch of great horror films for inspiration... but with the sound muted. ANoES's story, dialog and acting don't quite match the imagery. The beautiful scenes in the trailer led me to believe this remake might be a serious Hellraiser... »

After speeding through the 80s arcade games of the “Tron” universe, “Tron Legacy” writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz are going lo-tech with an adaptation of “Ouija” based on the popular board “game”. Since I haven’t read the script for “Tron Legacy”, I’m not sure what made Kitsis and Horowitz the men for this job. My best guess is that their agent and a movie executive whipped out “Ouija” and when the agent asked if Kitsis and Horowitz should write the movie, the spirits moved the pointer to “Yes”. The spirits then used the numbers at the bottom to determine their quote. The spirits seem to like the number “0″.

“Ouija” is being produced by Platinum Dunes (the remakes of “Friday the 13th” and “A Nightmare on Elm Street”) as well as Brian Goldner and Bennett Schneir of Hasbro. »

Jackie Earle Haley has promised a "deeper" version of the reboot of A Nightmare On Elm Street. The Watchmen star, who has signed up to play iconic villain Freddy Krueger in the remake to Wes Craven's 1984 classic, has said that the forthcoming movie will pay homage to the horror franchise. Haley told MTV: "I think the glove is pretty familiar. It's really important for us, I think, as we're re-imagining this, that there is a good, strong sense of new and fresh - yet there's some recognisability, you know? "A lot of what was in that first movie is also in this movie, as far as the structure of it and how it (more) »

Blood: The Last Vampire fights its way to Blu-ray and DVD November 2. The movie is a slick and stylised English adaptation of the hugely popular cult hit anime series of the same name. The movie is full of blood and gore, so in celebration of this release, we have compiled a short list of some of the bloodiest films to date. Chances are, if you loved these films and relished the blood, then you will love Blood: The Last Vampire. The name speaks for itself!
Blood: The Last Vampire (2009)
It is clear to see that Blood: The Last Vampire sticks true to its gory genre. In many of the scenes, Saya is surrounded by a group of demons. The creativity of their deaths is the winning factor here, for example in one scene she decapitates a demon by throwing a metal grate at it, and slices another in half to create an upward blood fountain, »

Tired of your old ringtones? For the first time, the classic A Nightmare On Elm Street theme 'Jump Rope' (better known as 'Freddy's Coming') is available as a ringtone! Oh happy mobile day!
To horror movie fans, it's a familiar song.
"One, Two, Freddy's coming for you
Three, Four, better lock your door
Five, Six grab your crucifix
Seven, Eight, better stay up late
Nine, Ten, never sleep again"
'Jump Rope' features the eerie juxtaposition of children's voices singing innocently in unison while offering a warning about Freddy Krueger, and it has exhilarated fans for many years. Now, for the first time, and just in time for Halloween, this classic theme has been made available as a ringtone for fans to purchase by texting the word "Nightmare" to 71777.

Wouldn't it be cool if, instead of producing so many remakes, more Hollywood studios would simply consider re-releasing classic films for limited theatrical runs? I suppose they might not stand to make as much money from a re-release of a movie that doesn't have any of today's hot young stars in it, but on the other hand, it wouldn't cost them that much money either. We've seen a few examples of this over the past few years (The Wizard of Oz [1] and A Nightmare on Elm Street [2], for example), but most of the time it's only for one or two nights. Well, now here's some cool news about a company that's trying to revive the concept of midnight movies with the help of Sam Raimi's very first flick The Evil Dead. According to a press release from Grindhouse Releasing [3], they will be bringing The Evil Dead back to the »

Connie Britton is not known for horror movies. In fact, the Friday Night Lights actress told the NY Post that it took Rob Zombie and the casting of Jackie Early Haley to convince her to take a role in A Nightmare on Elm Street, the remake of Wes Craven's 1984 horror movie — a movie Britton admits she's only seen parts of.
I've known Rob Zombie for a long time and he's always been telling me, "Connie, you gotta make a horror movie!" But I was still too chicken. But when I heard Jackie Earle Haley was doing Freddy, I thought that this was the time. But in retrospect, now that I've seen a good part of the original, it made no difference because what we do in the new one is so substantially different.
Britton is playing the mother of heroine Nancy (Rooney Mara), but isn't sure that her role »
