It's always great to see "Twilight" cast members getting along off-screen, and there were a couple of shout-outs bouncing around the Twitter-Wood feed today. Edi Gathegi wished Christian Serratos could be with him on a plane ride, but he had to settle for her advice on candy shenanigans. Elsewhere, Tinsel Korey sought Chaske Spencer's glitter skills in some Advent calendar construction.
In non-"Twilight" tweets "I'm on a Boat" seems to be a popular pick among the Grammy nominations this year, and Seth Meyers was among the first to back it. Michael McKean, meanwhile, will be pulling for Bela Fleck and Loudon Wainwright. Cinema Retro has received the following press release from the Jameson Cult Film Club, which is affiliated with Jameson Irish Whiskey:
The
infamous eighteen-inch-high Stonehenge in rockumentary classic, This is
Spinal Tap, has been voted the ultimate 'rock' cult film moment of all time by
almost half (48%) of British film fans.
Dennis
Hopper and the classic motorcycle moments set to Steppenwolf’s of 'Born to be
Wild' in Easy Rider came a close second in the poll with 22% of the votes,
followed by Bill and Ted's "excellent" guitar solo in Bill and Ted's Excellent
Adventure (19%).
The
research, commissioned by Jameson Cult Film Club, which brings classic cult
movie screenings to life via an immersive cinematic experience, also
reveals that the music from 90’s movie Trainspotting is the favourite

Tiger Woods was a hot topic on Twitter this weekend, and that meant he became a trending topic in Twitter-Wood. Somehow his Cadillac Escalade has become a subject of interest too, particularly with one "Harper's Island" actor who pointed out that the golfer wasn't driving a Buick.
"Toy Story 3" director Lee Unkrich, meanwhile, retweeted some great shots of homemade models based on the Disney-Pixar series, they're mighty impressive. Also impressive has been the performance by "New Moon" in theaters this month, but Jim Carrey took note of the movie's rabid fans and issues a warning in response. Game Of The Year is a mockumentary written and directed by local filmmaker Chris Grega (Amphetamine, Rhineland). The film follows a rag-tag group of guys who put together a team to compete on the reality TV show called “Game of the Year” in which teams square off against each other in role-playing games. The winning team gets to run the host’s new gaming company for one year. What ensues is a special brand of humor and a film that is either ridiculously revealing and hilariously nostalgic, depending on the viewer’s own history with role-playing.

Yankees supporters were out in force last night, and a few Twitter-Wood citizens were right by the field uploading pics. Brody Stevens may have shot the most enviable of the day, apparently getting soon-to-be-mvp Hideki Matsui in the dugout before the game. Jeremy Piven caught another high-quality photo-op, though, standing with his fellow Chicagoan Brian Urlacher.
Poor John Favreau was stuck in the editing room for "Iron Man 2," though, which he noted on his account. Larry King, Eliza Dushku and other added their thoughts after Phillies finally went down. I’m no music expert what with their fancy degrees and ability to appreciate music beyond “This sounds good.” But I do know lists and lists generate controversy and controversy equals traffic! And with their patented “slideshow” format which creates more hits based on an itemized story, EW.com has a real racket going!
Well, we just listed it like normal people after the jump. Take a look, see if you agree, and scream your disbelief at how a certain album you love wasn’t included. "Like many of you, I was stuck," narrates Guardian writer Paul MacInnes in his best Chuck Palahniuk-style monotone. "I looked at blog after blog, trying to find some Star Wars fan site that would justify my existence. This was my life, and it was ending one minute at a time." In a very funny take on Fight Club, MacInnes' short video has the frustrated blogger receiving an e-mail that invites him to a "dodgy warehouse," and finds him taking part in a stage-fighting workshop where he gets the chance to beat up a writer from Men's Fitness magazine.

Heavy Metal Band Anvil Gets Cameo in Green Hornet

It seems Seth Rogen and Michel Gondry are Anvil fans. The La Times writes that the heavy metal band, which achieved its peak popularity in the '80s, will get a cameo in The Green Hornet. The newest adaptation based on the comic-book hero is being directed by Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) and stars Rogen, who also helped draft the script.
Apparently, Anvil will make an appearance in a rock club as themselves. They'll play some songs and then ... explode? Well, that's what's written. We'll have to wait and see what that means.
The band was the focus of a recent critically acclaimed documentary directed by Sacha Gervasi. A tragicomic then-and-now look at faded stardom, Anvil! The Story of Anvil is often times cited as a real-life counterpart to This Is Spinal Tap. The movie won an Audience Award for Best Documentary Feature at the La Film Festival.

The Canadian metal band, Anvil, has been waiting decades to explode, and, thanks to Michel Gondry and The Green Hornet, they’ll get their chance to do just that. An article in the La Times about the documentary about the band, Anvil! The Story Of Anvil, also makes mention the band has filmed a cameo for the Seth Rogen-starring superhero movie. There is no mention who the band will be playing specifically, whether it be themselves or a made-up band for the film. What the article does say, however, is that the band will (literally) explode during their cameo at a rock club. Nothing like dying doing what you love, right?
While this news of Anvil’s cameo in The Green Hornet was brought up as an aside in the article, the main focus is the fact that Anvil! has become the first screener sent out to Academy Awards voters.

Ya’ know, since it’s Halloween coming up at the end of the month, I thought it would be appropriate to make a list of the top 5 movies that, for whatever reason, just scared the hell out of me. It may not be the entire movie, maybe it was just a particular scene/moment; they may not be the technically Best horror movies (they may not even be strictly “horror” per se.), but just something about them had me hiding behind the pillow, jumping at every noise, looking through the cracks in my fingers, thinking about it for days afterwards, and… changing my underwear — okay, too much information…
