The next Dlc pack for Gear Box Software's Borderlands is titled Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot, the developer has revealed. Inspired by the film Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, the expansion is based around a deadly tournament run by the titular character and features wave-based challenges. What in the hell is the plot of Adam Lambert's "For Your Entertainment" video? Based on the photos that keep popping up on the blogosphere, it looks like a homo-tastic remake of Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome...or Mad Max Beyond Gaydome as I have so cleverly named it (I am just soooo funny!). Still, Adam looks good in the leather trench coat and the video is certain to be memorable based on the wardrobe or, uh, lack thereof. As previously rumoured, the British actor Tom Hardy has been cast as "Mad" Max Rockatansky in the upcoming fourth Mad Max film, tentatively named Mad Max 4: Fury Road. Most people had expected the role to go to the rising star Sam Worthington (Terminator Salvation, Avatar), seing as he is Australian, the movie is about an Australian, and word on the street was that series creator George Miller was looking to cast an Australian for the role. Well, evidently the word on the street was wrong. So who is this Hardy fella? He hasn't done all that much, but most notably he had a major role in Layer Cake from 2004, portrayed Charles Bronson in Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn's Bronson from 2008 and had the role of Praetor Shinzon in Star Trek: Nemesis back in 2002.

Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy are in negotiations to star in Fury Road, the fourth installment in the Mad Max series. Writer-director George Miller has been working on the project for over a decade, and although Mel Gibson was attached at one point to return to the lead role that he played in the first three films of the series, Hardy will instead be tackling the role of Max, with Theron playing the female lead.
Little is known plot-wise about the film as Miller aims to keep a lid on what is set to be a highly anticipated event. Fans of the series have been waiting since 1985 for the next film in the series. All that is known at this point is that the film takes place a short while after the end of Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.

Just a few days ago, we talked about a report E! Online had put out which stated that RocknRolla star Tom “Handsome Bob” Hardy and Charlize Theron were on the short list to star in George Miller’s 4th installment of the Mad Max series, Fury Road. E! Online didn’t have any solid confirmation regarding the rumors so the information was to be taken with a grain of salt.
Today we learn (thanks to a heads up from First Showing), that The Hollywood Reporter is confirming both Hardy and Theron have entered into negotiations to star in Fury Road, with Hardy filling in for Mel Gibson as the titular role of Max Rockatansky and Theron as the female lead (does that mean she’s the new Tina Turner?). At this point, unless something wonky happens, Hardy and Theron will be the ones we see come release time.

Rumor on the street suggesting that Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy may be involved in "Mad Max: Fury Road" is on the right path after all. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that the Academy Award-winning actress and the gay gangster of "RocknRolla" are in negotiations to star in the fourth installment of the "Mad Max" series.
Hardy, who will be seen as Eames in Christopher Nolan's "Inception", is expected to step into the role of hardened ex-cop Max Rockatansk, meaning he will replace Mel Gibson who had portayed the character in the first three installments. 34-year-old Theron, in the meantime, will take on the female lead role. Details about her character are yet to be disclosed though.

Out with Mel Gibson, and in with … Tom Hardy? Who the hell is Tom Hardy? Well, sci-fi fans might remember Hardy as the Young Jean-Luc Picard in the “Star Trek” movie “Nemesis”, though he’s since gone on to do numerous other movies, including bulking up for “Bronson” (below), and now he’s set to play Max Rockatansky in George Miller’s “Mad Max 4: Fury Road”. Word is that the story for “Fury Road” will take place just after the events of 1985’s “Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome”, which would mean Miller is intent on continuing the story instead of rebooting it as originally feared, and Max would still reasonably be a young man and not some old fart.

Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy have signed on to star in Mad Max 4: Fury Road, the fourth installment of the Mad Max franchise from writer-director George Miller, according to Heat Vision Blog.
Mel Gibson is not reprising his iconic role of Max Rockatansky, who will instead be played by Hardy, the British-born actor who starred in Guy Ritchie's RocknRolla. Theron is set to play the female lead.
The story details are being kept under wraps, however, the movie takes place after the story laid out in 1985's Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.
Production is planned for next summer in Australia.

There were plenty of rumors and conversation regarding the casting of Mad Max 4, which is now confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter to be titled Fury Road, and they have all proven true as the trade announces Bronson star Tom Hardy will step into the role of Max Rockatansky, a hardened ex-cop in a future beset by gas shortages and marauding gangs.. The role made iconic by Mel Gibson in the 1979 original, followed by The Road Warrior in 1981 and 1985's Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.
This new film is said to the take place a short while after the story detailed in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome in which Max becomes a pawn in a decadent oasis of technological society, and when exiled, becomes the deliverer of a colony of children. Charlize Theron has signed on to play the female lead.

Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy have been confirmed as “in negotiations” for Mad Max : Fury Road (Mad Max 4).
Mel Gibson is not returning as Max Rockatansky because frankly he’s too old, and Miller is looking at a timeline not long after the events of 1985’s Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, according to THR (and backed up by Variety). Though Gibson was considering in 2003 when the project was first attempted.
It’s still unclear whether Tom Hardy will play Max or if he’s supposed to be a new character in the wasteland populated by violent gangs. Story details are being kept secret by Miller, though several casting rumors have leaked in the past few months. Jeremy Renner and Sam Worthington’s names also surfaced along with Hardy and Theron. We’ll let you know if anything changes though.

If filmmaker George Miller had his way, Australian actors wouldn't have to leave the country to find employment in major studio films. Miller, writer/director of the Mad Max films, is prepping Mad Max 4, eyeing an August 2010 start date in New South Wales for the $100 million film.
It's been nearly 25 years since audiences were last treated to the exploits of Mel Gibson as Mad Max in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome and, if everything clicks into place, audiences won't have to wait that much longer for the fourth adventure of Mad Max. Miller's aiming for a 2011 release of Mad Max: Fury Road.
In an interview with the Australian media, Miller said this new Mad Max is going to reflect the changes in action films since the original 1978 Mad Max and will "nudge the genre." Miller also made it clear he hasn't finalized the cast yet, despite all the rumors on the internet.

Australia scores a big movie production just days after Green Lantern packed up its gear and headed to New Orleans.
The Daily Telegraph reports that production will begin in Sydney and New South Wales on Mad Max: Fury Road, with director George Miller at the helm. Miller directed three previous installments — Mad Max, The Road Warrior, and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.
The production is a huge boost for Australia's movie industry with Premier Nathan Rees proclaiming that Mad Max 4 shooting in Australia "is a clear vote of confidence in Australian expertise" and "proves that Sydney is an international contender for major film production." All three of the Mad Max movies have been produced in Australia.
No actor has been named for the iconic role of Max, made famous by Mel Gibson, who will not return. Rumors persist that Sam Worthington will play the role, though E!Online UK

Yes, and yes, according to the Aussie site The Daily Telegraph, which you would think would know about all things “Mad Max”, right? After all, it doesn’t get anymore Aussie than George Miller’s “Mad Max” movies. (Well, except for “Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome”. I haven’t a clue how to classify that one.) Word is that Miller is ready to shoot the fourth entry in his post-apocalyptic franchise as soon as next year, and that none other than Aussie favorite son Sam Worthington is being eyed for the leading role.
Or as the Telegraph puts it:

It remains to be seen what Mad Max fans will think, but the businesses of Australia are excited that work on Mad Max 4: Fury Road will begin immediately, according to a story today in the Daily Telegraph. There is no confirmation as to who will be starring in the film, but it will most likely not be Mel Gibson. The likeliest candidate as of now is Sam Worthington (Terminator: Salvation) (not Tom Hardy), with Charlize Theron as the leading lady. Original Mad Max director George Miller -- who most recently gave us Happy Feet -- will once again helm.

Advance word on the amazing action in George Miller's The Road Warrior in 1982 was amazingly strong, even without Internet movie sites. When The Road Warrior did rampage on American movie screens, lo, the destructive path was indeed very broad and thrilling, unsuspecting audiences collectively dropped their jaws, and Mel Gibson was firmly cemented as an "A" list star.
The Road Warrior was, of course, a sequel to Miller's Mad Max, also starring Gibson, but that amazing adrenaline-fueled movie was relegated to drive-ins and Gibson's voice, deemed "too Australian," was ignominiously dubbed into "American" by another actor. The third movie in the series, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, was a bit of a letdown, though it definitely had its moments, and is probably best remembered for Tina Turner's appearance. Film composer Maurice Jarre, who won Oscars for the scores of Lawrence of
Arabia, Doctor Zhivago,and A Passage to India, all of them
directed by David Lean, has died in Los Angeles at age 84. In a statement,
French President Nicolas Sarkozy said that Jarre, who was French, "showed
that music is as important as visual image in the success of a film. ... The

So here's how the career of Australian director George Miller goes. He starts out in 1979 directing Mad Max, follows it up with Mad Max 2 in 1981, follows that up with Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome in 1985, then starts his downhill trend and directs The Witches of Eastwick, then in 1998 he reaches his all-time low, Babe: Pig in the City, and for his most recent film, he goes animated with Happy Feet. With all the trouble he had getting Justice League off the ground, you'd think he'd try and do something to prove himself again, but nope. Well, he did decide to make Mad Max 4, but there's a catch - it's going to be animated.
