Horror movies really are like monsters. Just when you think they’re dead they reappear out of nowhere despite the passage of time and the vagaries of the marketplace and critics pens. Great ones have the power to lift you up out of the ordinary world and leave you shaking in disgust, fear, or overwhelmed by dread or a sense of displacement. That’s the reason I creep through the vaults of any studio that will let me in. I hadn’t seen any of these Blue Underground titles before and when they told me that five out of six of the titles I had asked to write about were available I was excited to have the chance to check them out.
First up was Anguish by acclaimed art house director Bigas Luna. Besides the Luna pedigree this film also boasted the talents of a young but still instantly recognizable

Jake Wade Wall's script for Anguish , a redo of the 1987 Spanish horror film, has been kicking around Hollywood for a few years. Now it's found a home at Ghost House Pictures where Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert will produce alongside Vertigo Entertainment's Roy Lee and Doug Davison. The original, directed by Bigas Luna, finds two girls trapped in a movie theater with a killer who's murders parallel the killings occurring onscreen.

A week or two ago, we ran a little story about Sam Raimi producing a horror movie based on teh Danish movie Room
205. The main focus of that story was that Raimi was shooting it in his native Michigan, and he might film some second unit stuff for Spider-Man 4 there, as well. Now we're learning that
205 is one of two new foreign horror movie remakes on his agenda.
In addition to the Room 205, Raimi and his Ghost House Productions will also bring back the 1987 Spanish
flick Anguish, which was written and directed by Bigas Luna. Variety indicates that for this remake, Jake
Wade Wall (When a Stranger Calls) is writing the script; no director has been named.
It's about a couple teenagers watching a scary movie and then realize they're in their own version of a horror movie
when a maniac in the crowd at the theater starts killing

Sam Raimi's Ghost House Pictures has acquired the remake rights to two horrors, Anguish and Room 205, to be renamed The Dorm. But fear not, readers! These are not J-horrors but European films, so they might hold some surprises for us yet.Anguish is a remake of Bigas Luna's 1987 film of the same name, wherein a film-within-a-film tells the story of a mother-fixated optician's assistant who loses his job and goes on a killing spree. But the real plot concerns the patrons of a small cinema who are watching the film when a killer starts to murder them in ways that mirror the film's plot. In the remake, the protagonists are two girls who find real life mirroring the horror film they're watching. The Dorm is a remake of Danish film Room 205, wherein a student finds her college room haunted and some of her neighbours dying off in suspicious circumstances.

Ghost House Pictures keeps carving its way through the genre with a vengeance, as a couple of remake tidbits have hit the wire! What's next for the house that Raimi and Tapert built?
Variety reports tonight that the next film on the Ghost House slate will be a remake of a 1987 Spanish horror film, Bigas Luna's Anguish. For those unfamiliar with the flick, it told the tale of two girls trapped in a movie theater with a killer whose murders mirror the killing taking place on the big screen. Filming from a screenplay by Jake Wade Wall (When a Stranger Calls), Ghost House has hired Room 205 director Martin Barnewitz to helm this latest redux.
Speaking of which ... the remake of Room 205 (also being directed by Barnewitz) has found itself a new title -- The Dorm. Keep it locked for more on both these flicks as it develops.

Like the giant, roving eye of Sauron, except one aimed at remaking horror pics, Sam Raimi’s Ghost House company has nabbed the rights to two Euro-horror films: Anguish and Room 205. Anguish is taking shape based on Bigas Luna’s 1987 Spanish chiller that sees two girls discover their lives beginning to mirror the horror movie they’re watching. Jake Wade Wall has been writing an adaptation, but there’s no word on a director yet. Even further along is Room 205, a Danish pic that will be remade as The...

Variety reports that Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert’s Ghost House Pictures has picked up the remake rights to a pair of Eurohorror features. The company will produce English-language versions of Bigas Luna’s 1987 Anguish and Martin Barnewitz’s more recent Room 205.
In the Spanish Anguish, a horror movie about a psychopath (Michael Lerner, pictured) who cuts out his victims’ eyes comes to life for a couple of girls watching it in a theater. Jake Wade Wall, who also penned the When A Stranger Calls redux and co-scripted the new Hitcher, has written the updated Anguish, which will be co-produced by Asian redux specialists Roy Lee and Doug Davison of Vertigo Entertainment. A director has yet to be named.
The Danish Room 205, released to U.S. DVD by Ghost House via Lionsgate last year (alongside Ole Bornedal’s The Substitute, also due for Ghost House remaking), centers on a college
