This week on Clip Joint, AJBee tries to rouse the rabble as he turns the spotlight on cinema's best gangs
In a world that's falling apart – or even just coming apart at the seams a little – we all need others to cling to for support. Strength comes in numbers, but also in togetherness. In cinema we can see that tribal feeling from 2001: A Space Odyssey's prehistoric man to the gangs of 60s Glasgow, or 80s Brighton. The protruding foreheads remain, only the accents alter.
Gangs provide a sense of belonging and identity, as well as protection from foes. They can also exclude, as so many high school-set teen flicks testify. We wrap our modern tribal behaviour in colours and call it sport, which begat other kinds of gangs, too often lionised in modern British cinema. But gang culture is common to every echelon of society, from the streets »

Oprah's announcement that her show may end its 25-season run in 2011 was almost enough to unseat "New Moon" as the top trending topic of the Twitter-Wood feed today. Kevin Nealon and Wil Wheaton both had a opinions on her possible bow out of syndication, while Eli Roth and Kevin Smith helped keep "Twilight" alive in Twitter conversation.
Two big names celebrated birthdays last night in very public fashion, as P. Diddy entertained a few folks on my follow list and Larry King got a little rowdy in my pick for Twitter Pic of the Day. Check that out after the jump along with Jeremy Piven's Calgary Flames trip and Danny DeVito's wholesome moment with Carrie Fisher. I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is the Twitter-Wood report for November 20, 2009.

Amidst all the Twilight Saga: New Moon hype, Kellan Lutz decides to shed his fangs for his next project. As reported by The Wrap, Lutz will star in the family drama Cedars of Lebanon, where Bradley Gregg, who you might remember as Eyeball Chambers from Stand By Me, makes his directorial début. Lutz will play one of two brothers abandoned by their father and left to grow up on their own. Lutz is one of a handful of actors experiencing instant fame thanks to the world.s obsession with glittery vampires. He can enjoy his newfound stardom for now, but the Twilight Saga has to end at some point and it.ll be vital for Lutz to establish himself as a serious actor before that day comes. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart may never re-emerge from the bland and lifeless holes they.ve dug with their characters, Bella Swan ... »

What happens when two young men let their love of movies, comic books, and all things “geek” take over their lives? They run away from their families, bringing only the most essential DVDs and comics to their secret, highly fortified underground bunker in sunny Southern California, where they start recording podcasts that will change the world.
Are they heroes?
No.
Are they geniuses?
Far from it.
Are they the future of this planet?
I sure hope not.
Simply put… Matt Cohen and Jesse Rivers are “Bagged and Boarded”.
Bagged & Boarded Go Commentatin’: Beetlejuice - In which Matt and Jesse take a break from annoying each other to annoy each other while Beetlejuice plays in the background.

Actor Corey Feldman refuses to allow his young son to launch a movie career - because his own childhood was wrecked by fame.
Feldman shot to stardom in a string of blockbuster films in the 1980s, including Gremlins, Stand By Me, and The Lost Boys.
He has since battled drink and drug demons, and recently split from wife Susie after seven years - and he is adamant he wants to keep their five-year-old son, Zen, out of the spotlight.
He says, "With my son, I work very hard to keep him away form the press and media and I want an opportunity for him to lead as normal a life as possible. When he is 18, if he wants to act, that's his decision and I'll support him, but I would never want him to sacrifice his childhood. I didn't have one." »

If he never does anything else with the rest of his life at least Corey Feldman can say he was in four of the most beloved movies of the last thirty-years. Beginning with Gremlins in 1984 at the age of thirteen Feldman went on to star in classic films such as The Goonies and Stand By Me among other movies but it was his role as Edgar Frog in The Lost Boys that has kept in the hearts and minds of fans for decades. He reprised his role in last year's extremely successful direct-to-dvd release Lost Boys: The Tribe and it was recently announced that he would be appearing in a third film as well. We had the opportunity to speak with Feldman early this week and in light of the recent news that his wife and The Two Coreys co-star, Susie Sprague-Feldman has filed for divorce, he seemed upbeat »

Concerned civilians the world over watched in horror yesterday as a runaway helium balloon with six year-old Falcon Heene allegedly trapped inside sailed over the Colorado countryside, only to arrive on the ground safely without child. Falcon, now widely known as Balloon Boy, was napping in the attic the entire time.
Naturally, the Heene family is making the press rounds following the kinda-sorta disaster, and there's already compelling evidence that the whole incident could be a hoax. What's not a hoax, of course, is poor Falcon's on-air vomiting during a recording of the Today Show. Ill timing, really. While I could sit here and think of a variety of different lists — best balloon chases caught on film, the greatest cinema hoaxes of all time — I just can't get my head around the Today Show throw-up. The result of that mental block is this list of the five greatest vomit scenes in movie history. »

Today is Columbus Day, a federal holiday when people are meant to take some time to reflect on the 1492 arrival of Christopher Columbus in the New World, the continents now known as North and South America. Most people just use the free day to brunch, shop and chill, but it's really one of those half holidays where only certain members of the gainfully employed community actually have the time off.
Still, the message of exploration, discovery, is always worth reflecting on. There are few untouched regions left on this planet, so discovery has become more of a scientific pursuit than a geographical one. The joy of being the first to lay eyes on a new land somehow remains relatable however; cinema especially has never shied away from themes of exploration and discovery, even in its earliest days. After the jump you'll see some examples of our favorite discovery flicks.

Children of The Corn Directed by Donald P. Borchers In what's being marketed as a "rebirth," Children of the Corn revisits the 80's classic that spawned 6 sequels and countless amounts of children to fear those long weekends in the country. There's a trend happening again in the Horror genre. A trend that makes a strong case that children are complete creeps. Not only are they capable of being annoying little brats but it seems that in every town, city, county or home, there's at least one twisted little monster, who in between playing with Trouble the pop-omatic bubble game dreams of popping your skull open and feasting upon the meat of your brain. Word of advice: Don't have kids and don't trust kids, they'll just try to kill you. Children of the Corn, if anything, reaffirms these wise words as well as gives us the much needed visceral satisfaction of brutal violence towards kiddies, »

Over the summer, I briefly heard about a torture-pornish horror movie entitled The Human Centipede (First Sequence) but didn't give it (or the title) a second thought. Well, over the weekend Centipede slithered into the orgasmic Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas and after the screening the buzz suddenly recalled the barfers-barfing-on-barfers scene from Stand By Me. Capitalizing on the barf, the producers have released a teaser clip from the film, posted below. Combined with the plot synopsis, also below, you might just barf, so put away your burrito and wait a few minutes if applicable. Seriously, this is likely the movie for people who think Deadgirl is for pussies. It sounds like a cyclic-themed film that Matthew Barney might have thought up if he was on death row. Etc. As the parenthetical title implies, a sequel is officially planned. Might this be the next-lev Saw franchise? A diverse, international cast doesn't hurt. »

Without a doubt the hardest part of our job reporting on the latest horror news is when one of our own is taken from us. We're very sad to inform you that Dick Durock, best known for his role as the "Swamp Thing", passed away last week at his home in Oak Park, California, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Durock, 72, was the subject of a fond tribute from Erin Blasko of the South Bend Tribune. Excerpts follow:
Born in South Bend in the late 1930s, Richard "Dick" Durock survived an early family tragedy to become a minor Hollywood player and fanboy idol for his role as Swamp Thing in the two feature films and television series of the same name.
Despite his success, he remained a humble Midwesterner at heart.
"He didn't get a big head. He was down-to-earth, very natural," Frank Varrichione, Durock's brother-in-law, said.

It’s that time of the week again Boxwishers, when we here at Boxwish HQ open up about our movie tastes and share with you some of the cine clutter that occupies our time and energy. And today we truly are admitting you into our confidence as we discuss that most sensitive of subjects – movies that make us cry. Obviously for the males among the Boxwish contingent, there’s no such thing as crying as we’re far too butch and manly for such feminine foibles (and if a tear or two was to sneak past, it would be due to grit in the eye – naturally!) So pass the Kleenex, as we’re asking: “What movie do you turn to for a big girlie blub?”
Steve: “Being a tough guy I don’t really turn to anything to cry. Embarrassingly though, I do remember crying when I watched the movie Toys as a kid. »

Photo: Warner Bros. Warner Bros. sent over four new character posters for Where the Wild Things Are. You can check out the small versions above or click here to view the larger versions in the gallery. I'm sure most of you read the comments Megan Fox made about her Transformers director, Michael Bay, comparing him to Hitler. Well, some of Bay's crew members sent in a letter to the director's official site, which was reprinted, leading me to believe he has given the comments a thumbs up. Here's a snippet: We've had the tedious experience of working with the dumb-as-a-rock Megan Fox on both Transformers movies," the letter says early on. [Note: the grammar ansd phraseology are weak so I've cleaned up certain portions.] "We [work] in different departments, and can't give our names because sadly doing so in Hollywood could lead to being banished from future Paramount work. One of us touches Megan's panties, another has the often sh*tty job of pulling Ms. »

A couple of updates came through via Twitter recently that we thought newsworthy but not quite detailed enough for their own individual stories.
First is a tease from Wes Craven about the trailer for his long-awaited 25/8 project: "Just saw the studio's new trailer for #25/8... it rocks! Think Stand By Me with knives!"
Follow @wescraven to see if he spills any more details over the coming days.
Next, E! Online proclaims, "New New Moon Trailer in the Wild!" and provides a link to the leaked new Twilight Saga: New Moon trailer that has been playing before screenings of Sorority Row. It falls right in line with the description we posted on Friday. But remember ... the extended version is premiering exclusively during the MTV Vma's on Sunday, and once it's aired, you can click here to watch and re-watch it to your heart's content.

"Twilight" frustrations bubbled up in the Twitter-Wood feed today, though I'm not sure what some of them were about precisely. David Slade reiterated his irritation at planes flying over his "Eclipse" set, which may have been compounded by problems involving goats. Meanwhile, Christian Serratos cryptically sounded off with her desire to see "New Moon," which apparently she is not allowed to do quite yet.
Elsewhere, photos from Eliza Dushku and Emmy Rossum showed up with flannel shirt thoughts and a mysterious coconut left in the back of a taxi cab. You really don't know where that's been, Emmy. (Be safe.) Sarah Silverman wins the Twitter Pic of the Day award, though. Click on down, and I think you'll see why. It's in the Twitter-Wood report for September 11, 2009.
