The content of this page was created directly by users and has not been screened or verified by IMDb staff.
Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, that you instead use this new feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes .

Sex & Nudity

Westley makes the comment to Buttercup, "There's a shortage of perfect breasts in this world. 'Twould be a pity to damage yours."

Wesley and Buttercup kiss.

Violence & Gore

Torture scene by a fantasy device that sucks life away. Cries of agony heard throughout the countryside.

A sword/knife battle with a knife thrown at a chest/arm, multiple sword wounds concluding with a thrust to the death. Some blood shown. One man cuts another man on the face with his sword (scratches on the cheekbones that bleed a little).

Swordfight--the winner knocks the loser unconscious by striking him in the head with the handle of his sword.

A large man knocks another man unconscious by hitting him on the head with a fist.

A man threatens to have a large man tear another's legs off. A character schemes to have a woman murdered (she isn't).

A couple fall into quicksand and get temporarily buried. A woman's skirt catches fire; a man puts it out. A man is attacked by a large rodent which bites him, drawing blood, on the shoulder. He fights it, a woman hits it with a stick, and the man stabs it. Later, the shirtless man has his wound cleaned by another man who says he'll be killed later.

Profanity

Inigo tells Count Rugen, "I want my father back, you son of a bitch!"

Boy exclaims to Grandfather in anger, "Jesus, Grandpa!"

Inigo says, "My God! He's climbing."

Westley imitating a ficticious woman says, ""Dear God, what is that thing?""

Inigo is shown as being very drunk in the Thieves' Quarters, holding a bottle of brandy.

Two men engage in a contest with poisoned wine.

Westley being tortured on 'The Machine'.
