Sex & Nudity

One noted sexual attack. When a gang biker restrains a teenage girl, tears off her shirt(we see her breasts), and punches her in the face.

Violence & Gore

Scenes of strong animated bloody violence, all depicted in realistic manner including: brutal gang beatings and strong bloody gun violence and carnage; and some graphic supernatural violence. Standout scenes include: a man being torn apart by machine gun fire; another man being shot in the face; one of the main characters having his arm burnt off by solar rays; and numerous characters being torn apart by psychic powers.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

During the beginning of the movie, a man confronts a firing squad of armed officers and is shot multiple times even while gunned down. A large amount of blood is present during this scene.

Two teenagers are chased though a sewer. The female teenager pulls a gun on a purser who corners the male teenager and shoots a portion of his face off. Skin from the side of his face is seen pulled away by the bullet and blood is splattered as he slides down the sewer drain.

A teenage boy hallucinates his insides falling out of his stomach. Intestines, blood, and guts are visible as he attempts to picks them up and puts them back into his body.

During a gun fight in a sewer, a man who confronts a flying machine gunner is mauled to pieces by the large bullets (hardly visible). Shortly after, the gun which the man was holding is recovered by a teenage girl still contains the arm of the man on the handle.

In a hospital hallway, two guards and a doctor are mangled in a hallway by telekinetic powers by teenage boy. A massive amount of blood covers the floor, walls, and ceiling. Limbs and blood of the guards are seen dripping from the ceiling as the boy walks away from the murder scene. Very graphic scene.

A man shoots another man, when he reports bad news.

Towards the end of the movie, a clear scene of a girl being crushed into nothing but blood is seen as if she had imploded. Very graphic scene.

Akira bashes up another gang member badly.

Profanity

No strong language in the older dubbing. Some mild language used. In the newer dubbing, there is one use of "fuck" and a few other uses of strong language. The word "fuck" is seen written on a wall in one scene.

---------------------------------------------------

In the Pioneer English dub of "Akira", the F word is used by a teenage boy in the beginning of the movie during a bike chase.

In the same dub, a teenage boy refers to a girl as a "bitch" for denying him a relationship.

There are some drug and alcohol references involving teenagers.

Occasional scenes of medicinal drug addiction and withdrawal. Also, the biker gang buy "pills" from the bar-tender near the beginning.

Kaneda and some of the other bikers and their girlfriends are seen smoking cigarettes in one scene

Scenes of supernatural violence and horror including: gruesome mutations and disturbing nightmare seqences and hallucinations.

Akira is a extremely confronting and violent film. Suitable 15+
