Parents Guide for
Big (1988) More at IMDbPro »

The content of this page was created directly by users and has not been screened or verified by IMDb staff.
Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, that you instead use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

In one scene, Tom Hanks and Elizabeth Perkins are making out when she removes her shirt and he reaches out to touch her breasts, and then he removes her bra. Nothing is shown.

A boy makes a comment about being able to look down their teachers shirt and able to see "everything".

When Tom brings over Elizabeth for a sleepover he states "i wanna be on top", but he actually means bunkbeds. She thinks he means sex.

Violence & Gore

There is only one scene really but it is quite comical. When they first move into a hotel, you can hear two men arguing a little later. One gets blown away (off screen) but it is comical.

Profanity

One use of the f-word and other minor swearing. (s-word & a-word).

At one point, Billy (kid) is really upset with Josh (Tom Hanks) and says, "Who the F**K do you think you are?!" and then before storming out of Josh's office, he very angrily calls him, "A**HOLE!!" Other than that scene, I agree the swearing was pretty minor. Also there are some uses of the b-word.

Social drinking - adults drinking a glass of wine. Some cigarette smoking (by adults).

None to speak of. Except the fortune machine is fairly creepy.
