Yesterday, MTV's Eric Ditzian ran through five of the best movie gifts -- which is to say, gifts given in movies -- a person could ask for. From Buzz Lightyear in "Toy Story" (personally, I'd prefer a TurboMan from "Jingle All the Way") to the self-lacing Nike sneakers in "Back to the Future Part II," Eric shared some great holiday gift ideas. You probably won't be able to get your hands on any of them at this late hour, but you can at least look at the pictures and sigh wistfully at the missed opportunities.
I'm back today with another gifts list. Except these are prezzies that you're not going to find under the tree when you stumble into the living room on the morning of December 25. The history of cinema is rife with great examples of poor gift-giving, and I've collected some of the worst right here. So hit »

Horror buffs beware! A new production company has been formed by a couple of the most influential minds in the entertainment industry.
Dead Rabbit Films reunites Tom Holland, the legendary writer/director responsible for some of the most successful films in the horror genre such as Fright Night and Child's Play, with music biz empressario David Chackler (Queen, Buckingham/Nicks of Fleetwood Mac and 2Live Crew), whose resume also includes film production credits such as John Carpenter's Village of the Damned for Universal. Dead Rabbit Films will develop and produce feature films as well as scripted episodic television for emerging networks and mobile platforms.
The combination of the Holland and Chackler resumes reads like an insider's list of who's who in Hollywood. With associations from Stephen Spielberg to Stephen King, Tom Holland serves as the creative genius behind Dead Rabbit Films.

If the goal of last night's episode of NCIS, "Child's Play," was to show the softer side of Gibbs, it only partially worked. If we were supposed to believe that the government really trains 12-year-olds to crack military codes, that was a bit of a stretch as well.
As usual, though, these gripes are secondary to thanks to the fast-paced action, funny and thought-provoking dialogue and terrific characters that always make NCIS click.
When the body of a dead Marine is found a cornfield, it's got all the makings of a gang retribution killing. But it turns out that was just the killer's front, to pin it on them.
The NCIS team's investigation quickly leads to a government think tank that felt a little hokey - having kids play video games to help craft and improve military strategy?

(S07E09) If you want to show the soft side of Jethro Gibbs, involve a kid. That would seem to be the logic behind this episode which was a bit of a reach, what with cornfields, a think tank for gifted children, government secrets, a tenuous link to gang activity, a dead Marine, and pink cupcakes ... but still interesting.
There was also the whole connection to Thanksgiving at Ducky's. Would our favorite NCIS team make it to dinner together or would they be setting out on separate paths? Would Abby master the cranberry sauce? Read more after the jump.

Episode Title: "Of Human Action"
Written By: Glen Whitman & Robert Chiappetta
Synopsis: The Fringe team is called in when two suspicious men seemingly kidnap an innocent child by way of mental persuasion — which, as it turns out, is only partially true. Once Peter Bishop (Joshua Jackson) is abducted by the real culprit, his father Walter (John Noble) and Agent Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv) frantically try to find a way to resolve the situation, which may or may not have something to do with Nina Sharp (Blair Brown) and Massive Dynamic. Okay, it obviously has something to do with Massive Dynamic.
Fear of the Mind: The opening sequence and the subsequent convenience store hold-up were two of the scariest scenes I've seen on "Fringe," not due to any special effects, but the absolute dread you feel in knowing what's about to happen to these bystanders. At first, I thought it was »

The fact that NCIS is currently the highest rated series today apparently doesn't escape even the powers-that-be. TV Guide reports that Ray Mabus, the Us Secretary of the Navy is appearing on NCIS, although he's not playing the Secretary of the Navy, but an NCIS agent. Apparently, Sec. Mabus is a big fan of the CBS procedural, and, judging from the ratings, he's one of a multitude.
The Navy officer is set to appear on the show's Thanksgiving episode called "Child's Play" where Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and the rest of the team hold off Thanksgiving festivities when a dead Marine comes up. The investigation leads them into the life of a 12-year-old prodigy (Madeline Carroll), who may be the killer's next target.
