Fake 'Twilight' Actors Looking To Make Out And Baseball's World Series In Today's Twitter-Wood

29 October 2009 4:30 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

"Twilight" actress Anna Kendrick has a clever friend who's not above impersonating an "Eclipse" actor to make out with unsuspecting prey, so next time someone walks up you at a club telling you they've been filming with David Slade recently, double-check IMDb. Slade, meanwhile, announced an "official" wrap to "Eclipse" filming yesterday, following last week's tweeted wrap by Christian Serratos.

Elsewhere in Twitter-Wood, Rob Zombie noted the passing of former Danzig drummer Chuck Biscuits with a memorial post. The World Series had much of Twitter's attention as Ice-t captured a picture from the stands and Paul Feig pondered the art sunflower seed spitting. You can catch all of that, a Dalek and Emmy Rossum's Ferragamo dress fears after the jump in the Twitter-Wood report for October 29, 2009.

Fun For Everyone Halloween Films - Part II!

25 October 2009 3:37 PM, PDT | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

We’ve really appreciated the great response we’ve gotten from our first set of Fun for Everyone Halloween Films and it’s time for the second of three great collections that will not only put a wintery chill up and down your spines, but a smile on your face and collective memory.

Read on below and don’t forget to tell Screen Rant about Your favorite Howling Heaps of Halloween Film Fun!

5. It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (1966): There are many people that will claim their personal soundtracks to include “Darth Vaders March”, or Kenny Loggin’s “Danger Zone” from Top Gun. Mine is much more commonplace: Linus and Lucy. It’s a track featured inside of all of the Charlie Brown adventures and naturally finds its way to this instant classic from 1966, It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. Blu-Ray Review: Gaudy ‘Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas’ Lacks True Holiday Cheer

20 October 2009 2:57 PM, PDT | HollywoodChicago.com | See recent HollywoodChicago.com news »

Chicago – Just weeks before the opening weekend of Jim Carrey’s new “A Christmas Carol,” Universal has released a Blu-Ray + DVD combo pack of the nearly decade-old “Grinch” remake, featuring Carrey as the infamous Seussian Scrooge. The combination of Carrey’s star power and Theodor Geisel’s beloved source material assured the film’s massive box office success. But no matter how much dough it raked in, few family audiences actually seemed to like it. That’s because no one behind the camera had a clue about how to stretch this simple tale into a feature-length blockbuster.

Blu-Ray Rating: 2.0/5.0

The original “Dr. SeussHow The Grinch Stole Christmas” was a half-hour cartoon first broadcast in 1966, featuring masterful narration from Boris Karloff, exuberantly funny animation from Chuck Jones, and classic songs written by Seuss and unforgettably performed by Thurl Ravenscroft. It remains one of the finest holiday films of all time, »

Hugh Hefner, 50 Cent And Heath Ledger In Today's Twitter-Wood

7 October 2009 3:30 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Everybody found somebody to take a picture with in today's Twitter-Wood feed. Ice-t was pal'n around with 50 Cent, Mary Lynn Rajskub from "24" saw her new co-star and former "Battlestar Galactica" actress Katee Sackhoff in the parking lot, and Nicky Hilton presented a shot of her and her sister Paris with Hef from last year.

In other posts, Jeremy Piven made it out to a screening of "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" and reflected on Heath Ledger's final performance there. Check out all of those out below along with Sarah Silverman, a shocked Larry King and how many "Pootie Tang" residual checks is takes to pay for an espresso. It's in the Twitter Report for October 7, 2009.

Ron Howard Talks ‘The Strange Adventures of H.P. Lovecraft’

25 September 2009 12:37 PM, PDT | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

There’s been some chatter on the airwaves about Ron Howard, the director of Willow, Splash and Backdraft (just to name the big ones), taking on the cult-hit comic-to-film-adaptation, The Strange Adventures of H.P. Lovecraft.

According to the website devoted to the comic, it tells the story of a generally pitiful and sad pulp-horror writer (name provided in the title) who suffers unrequited love, lack of professional esteem, etc… until he one day comes across a book that somehow brings the bad guys from his worst nightmares into the real world - and only he has the power to destroy them! If you don’t know, H.P. Lovecraft Was an actual fantasy and horror writer in the U.S. during the early part of the 20th century: he wrote deeply pessimistic tales in which his protagonists get a brief glimpse at the horror of reality.

New Twitter Avatars, Warwick Davis And A Busy Day For 'Eclipse' In Today's Twitter-Wood

18 September 2009 3:30 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Warwick Davis has only gotten cooler in my eyes since I started following his Twitter account. The "Harry Potter" and "Willow" star apparently set up a laser tag match this week with John Williams' "Star Wars" score playing in the background, which sounds like quite the celebration of sci-fi geekdom.

It was also a relief this morning to read that I wasn't the only one seeing little bird-shaped, multicolor avatars everywhere when I logged in to Twitter. Diablo Cody and Richard Kelly experienced the same thing with reactions similar to my own. If you know what I'm talking about, or want to find out, click on down below and read their posts, along with Peter Facinelli's exhausting end-of-day tweet from the "Eclipse" set and a Selena Gomez Alma Award pic for all you "Wizard of Waverly Place" fans. They're in the Twitter-Wood report for September 18, 2009.

Tom Felton Enjoys A Vacation And Denzel Washington Offers Advice In Today's Twitter-Wood

16 September 2009 3:00 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Warmoth is out of town, covering something for @multiplayers. So you Twitter-Wood-ers are stuck with me, your friendly neighborhood MTV Movies Blog editor. My picks aren't usually as structured as Brian's are, and today is no different. Still, there's plenty of fun, funny and fascinating pulled together for you after the jump.

First up is "Harry Potter" star Tom Felton, who's spending some vacation time with Universal Studios and Scrabble. Then we've got "Jennifer's Body" writer Diablo Cody coining a new phrase and Rob Corddry asking a ridiculous question. Also, Kevin Pollak offers a hilariously descriptive rundown of his preparations for a coming colonoscopy. Plus, sound advice from Denzel Washington (take note, Kanye-haters), observations on the female anatomy from Michael Ian Black and "The Office" star Rainn Wilson's steamy night... alone. I'm @geminibros and this is your Twitter-Wood report for September 16, 2009.

Bryce Dallas Howard Oscar Potential? Indie Distributor Picks Up 'Teardrop'

Bryce Dallas Howard in The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond

Photo: Paladin I just received a press release from the new independent film company Paladin, announcing they have picked up and will release The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond starring Bryce Dallas Howard, Chris Evans, Ellen Burstyn, Oscar nominee Ann-Margret, Meryl Streep's daughter Mamie Gummer and Will Patton. The drama is based on a heretofore unproduced original screenplay by legendary writer Tennessee Williams and directed by Jodie Markell, in her feature debut. In one of the few reviews of the film coming out of the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival, Joe Leydon at Variety offered up mixed feelings with the following intro: The fragrant aroma of magnolias is undercut by the distinct smell of mothballs throughout "The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond," an admirably earnest but curiously flat attempt to film a long-unproduced scenario by Tennessee Williams. Ted Kennedy Notes, Warwick Davis' 'Harry Potter' Casting Switch And Shaq In A Speedo In Today's Twitter-Wood

26 August 2009 3:00 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Ted Kennedy's passing this morning certainly didn't leave the Twitter-Wood feed untouched. I made my best attempt to summarize the spectrum of reactions today some retweets from Elizabeth Banks and Kevin Nealon.

It was also a massive photo-posting day for some reason. And when it came down to choosing between Shaquille O'Neal in a Speedo and Arnold Schwarzenegger's "Conan" sword, which in now housed at his California office, the hairs of choice were not easily split. Click on down there, and you'll find both of them, along with Warwick Davis' commentary on leaving his role as Filius Flitwick to replace Verne Troyer as Griphook the Goblin in "Harry Potter in the Deathly Hallows." Also, the lovely Emma Roberts talks bikinis. It's all in the Twitter-Wood report for August 26, 2009.

Ashton Kutcher's Emergency Landing And Steven Tyler's Fall In Today's Twitter-Wood

6 August 2009 4:29 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Don't worry. Ashton Kutcher appears to be safely on the ground and tweeting following an engine emergency in his plane. Thanks to the wonders of the Twitter-Wood feed, his well being has been verified. Today's report actually contains several notes of danger, with the "Spread" star showing up first. Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler suffered injuries after a fall from stage during a concert in South Dakota. I don't have a Twitter account on file for Tyler, but writer Brian Lynch was on hand to tweet.

Significantly less dangerous was director James Gunn's birthday this week, which earned Twitter Pic of the Day honors. The "Slither" director apparently celebrated with some sushi and Lex Luthor himself, Michael Rosenbaum. You can scope out a link to that shot, as well as swearing advice and "Twilight" hopes from Peter Facinelli below. It's all in the Twitter-Wood report for August 6, 2009.

'Funny People' Micro-Reviews And Tokyo Travel Advice In Today's Twitter-Wood

3 August 2009 3:00 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Any "Star Wars" fan planning a trip to Tokyo soon should look no further than Warwick Davis' Twitter account for advice. He served it up to his "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" co-star Tom Felton today, and you will definitely want to read his recommendation.

In addition to travel advice, Twitter-Wood has proven itself once again to be a great source of Monday celebrity micro-reviews. The most popular film to see in the feed this weekend was definitely "Funny People," and I've rounded up commentary by Shannon Elizabeth, Jon Favreau, and a couple of others who sounded of today. All of those and one of Emmy Rossum's simple daily frustrations are assembled for you below. But first, for the consideration of Twitter-Wood readers everywhere, I present my pick for Twitter Pic of the Day -- courtesy of Mr. John Stamos.

Bryce Dallas Howard Causes An Eclipse: Wake-Up Video

29 July 2009 5:45 AM, PDT | MTV Newsroom | See recent MTV Newsroom news »

It's official: Bryce Dallas Howard, the actress best-known for playing Gwen Stacy in "Spider-Man 3" and for starring in the worst M. Night Shyamalan films, will join the cast of "Twilight" starting with the third film "Eclipse" (scheduled for release in 2010). She'll take on the role of Victoria, the nomadic vampire who is trying to kill Bella and whose role beefs up significantly in the third film.

Howard is something of Hollywood royalty, as her father, Ron Howard, has been in the business for decades. He broke in as a child star on "The Andy Griffith Show," graduated to a role on "Happy Days" and has since become one of the most prolific and varied directors in film, creating modern classics like "Apollo 13," "Willow" and "Cinderella Man." (He is also responsible for "The Da Vinci Code," but it's hard to hold that against him considering he brought "Arrested Development »

Val Kilmer On The 'Willow' Set Dating Scene In Vintage Vids

17 July 2009 11:30 AM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

I'm not entirely sure that a video interview from July 2008 really counts as "vintage." It works today though because of Warwick Davis's comments on the (admittedly far-fetched) possibility of George Lucas getting the gang back together for a sequel. Still, Davis was more hopeful on the "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" red carpet about the "Willow" sequel possibilities than fellow star Val Kilmer was in the below video.

Which isn't to say that MTV's Josh Horowitz shied away from asking Mad Martigan about his "Willow" experiences. Kilmer hems and haws a bit, but he eventually dishes a rather interesting, and apparently documented, detail. In the actor's own words, "more little people got together," wink, wink towards the camera, "in 'Willow' than any time in history." Well... uhhh... wow Val. Neat bit of trivia there. Watch the clip; it's pretty hilarious.

Warwick Davis On A 'Willow' Sequel And The George Lucas TV Series That Almost Was

17 July 2009 10:30 AM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Everyone’s got their pop culture fever dreams. Jimmy Fallon is on a one-man mission of awesome to stage a “Saved by the Bell” reunion. At MTV, we’ve been holding a candle—a candle flickering with magical goodness—for another go at George Lucas’ fantastical adventure story, “Willow.”

Why? Firstly, because Kelly Kapowski can still make a grown man weep. And secondly, because dragons, sorcerers and Val Kilmer are still cool after all these years. Really. We’ll leave “SbtB” to Fallon and his staff and instead concentrate on shamelessly drumming up support for more “Willow,” the 1988 film about a little person tasked with protecting a baby who, it is prophesied, will grow up to conquer an evil queen.

Last time we caught up with the star and namesake of “Willow,” Warwick Davis, he spoke enthusiastically about the potential for a sequel. A year later, on the red carpet »

Profiling Hogwarts' Teaching Staff In 'Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince'

16 July 2009 10:30 AM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Before Bill Nighy confirmed he was going to be joining the cast of “Harry Potter,” he wasn’t being facetious when he complained that he was the last big British actor to not be involved in the series. With heavy hitters like the late Richard Harris, Kenneth Branagh and Ralph Fiennes weaving in and out of the series, who can blame him for feeling left out?

The professors at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in particular possess acting talent which comes from the upper echelons of British celeb royalty. Young Americans might not recognize all of their faces outside of "Potter," especially those who are masked behind beards and more extensive makeup. So we've decided to profile the top Hogwarts talents for you here; not their fictional professorships, but rather the reasons you should look for them in roles outside the "Harry Potter" universe.

New York — In the wake of David Letterman's apology for his joke last week about Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's daughter, a number of protesters flocked around the "Late Show" studios in Midtown Manhattan on Tuesday (June 16) to show their support for Palin — albeit not in the numbers previously expected.

Approximately three dozen protestors stood across the street from the studios, chanting "Fire Dave! Shame on CBS!," and spoke about Letterman's joke, for which he has twice apologized and Palin has accepted his apology. Last week, Letterman joked in his monologue about an "awkward moment" for Palin at a New York Yankees game, when "her daughter was knocked up by Alex Rodriguez. »

Great New Promo Spot for Ron Howard's Angels and Demons

12 April 2009 7:38 PM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

One summer movie that I'm actually very excited for is Angels & Demons, the Da Vinci Code prequel from Ron Howard starring Tom Hanks. We were shown a lengthy promo reel at ShoWest and it looked fantastic, instantly moving up on my list of most anticipated summer releases. A new promo TV spot for Angels & Demons has aired that gives us a better glimpse at how thrilling this will be, although it doesn't have all the same footage I saw that made me so excited. But I will say that even if you hated The Da Vinci Code, give this a chance, because I have a feeling it may be the Dan Brown adaptation we always wanted. Discuss: Ron Howard, H.P. Lovecraft and 'Gung Ho'

26 March 2009 4:15 PM, PDT | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

Can I ask you a question: When did we lose Ron Howard? Was it EdTv? How the Grinch Stole Christmas? Did these two films back-to-back force Howard to re-direct his career so that every film he made was either an Oscar-poised drama or a Dan Brown adaptation? Today, Variety tells us that Universal and Imagine Entertainment are now looking to strap Howard down to the director's chair for an adaptation of The Strange Adventures of H.P. Lovecraft -- which is a graphic novel from Mac Carter and Jeff Blitz that takes elements of Lovecraft's struggles in real life and combines them with a fantastical element that includes transforming all of his darkest nightmares into reality.

Sounds pretty cool and creepy, but is it the type of film we want from Ron Howard? I appreciate that he's looking to play with another genre (even though this kind of story seems perfect »

Newest Beautiful Angels and Demons Poster Hits

24 March 2009 12:01 PM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

There's juts something I love about all the posters for Angels & Demons we've seen so far. They're somewhat minimalistic, don't involve floating heads, have great color choices, and overall just look very polished, which I personally love seeing in a poster since we get so many of them are just a mess. This newest one features Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon standing in a crowded Vatican Square surrounded by Cardinals all wearing red. I really love the very minimal use color in this, with the focus on red, as it actually brings out Hanks a lot more. As great as all this looks, I just hope it leads to a successful opening. Angels and Demons Science and Religion Featurette

I don't know how I missed this, considering I'm a big fan of the book, but a new featurette for Sony's big summer movie Angels & Demons hit last week focusing on the battle between science and religion that is the theme of Dan Brown's book. Director Ron Howard and stars Tom Hanks and Ewan McGregor talk about the ideas behind Angels & Demons and how they play into the story. It's actually a fairly fascinating and entertaining video. I'm a bit baffled that Angels & Demons doesn't have more buzz, but I'm guessing that Sony has been marketing it to the older demographics and not to the younger summer audiences.
