The most likely answer is a fruitcake, which is a very common Christmas present. It is confirmed in the original Vacation from some dialogue with Aunt Edna that the Griswolds do give fruitcakes to their relatives as gifts. This would also explain the Boss's lack of interest in the gifts.

When Clark tells his family what he wants for Christmas, he specifically says that he wants his boss Frank Shirley "taken from his happy home on Melody Lane". This provided Eddie with a full name and street name so it's logical to assume that Eddie did not have any trouble finding the home.
