Come And Join The Tea Party: A New Alice In Wonderland Banner

What will Disney’s biggest release be for 2010? While it’s anyone’s game at the moment, I think it’d be a safe bet to put your money on Alice in Wonderland, Tim Burton’s deliciously gothic sequel to the original story. Starring Johnny Depp, Mia Wasikowska, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Crispin Glover, Matt Lucas, Alan Rickman, Stephen Fry and Michael Sheen, the film is certainly not short of star quality, and judging by the two latest trailers (here and here) it’s going to be one hell of an experience!

This leads me perfectly to today’s addition of a new Alice in Wonderland poster/banner. Featuring all of the central cast in what seems to be one of the Mad Hatter’s tea parties, it’s yet another wonderful look at the world Burton has created, check it out below:

I'm probably making way too big of a deal over one small bit of advertising art for Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, but I love seeing this stuff. This new bit of art just popped up on JoBlo earlier today. Given the shape, I'm guessing this is billboard art that you'll see up soon if you live in Los Angeles or New York. It's definitely some eye-catching artwork, so bravo to everyone at Disney for coming up with this. I'm sure they're having a heyday with Alice in Wonderland, imagine the possibilities that graphic designers have with this! Anyway, since the last trailer got kinda buried, I'm wondering if everyone is still excited to see this? Blu-Ray Review: ‘9’ Counts on Audacious Visuals to Pull in Viewers

Chicago – Seventy years ago, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer released a haunting animated short named “Peace On Earth.” Director Hugh Harman set his story in a post-apocalyptic world inhabited only by animals, who have rebuilt a society dedicated to peace and nonviolence. Mankind ultimately brought about their own extinction by forging never-ending wars.

With tough subject matter and a cautionary message, this groundbreaking cartoon proved that the medium of animation could be used for more than lightweight escapism aimed at children. In 2005, UCLA student Shane Acker made a thesis film that resembled Harman’s short, in terms of its setting and themes. Instead of animals emerging from the wreckage of a bombed-out wasteland, there were odd mechanical creatures with burlap skin and camera irises for eyes. This wordless, visually arresting short ended up snagging an Oscar nod.

New Trailer, Stills Released For ‘Alice in Wonderland’ With Johnny Depp, Mia Wasikowska

Chicago – This eight-image slideshow contains new imagery from the highly anticipated Tim Burton film “Alice in Wonderland,” which stars Johnny Depp (as The Mad Hatter), Mia Wasikowska (Alice Kingsley), Helena Bonham Carter (The Red Queen) and Anne Hathaway (The White Queen).

The film also stars Alan Rickman (The Caterpillar), Michael Sheen (The White Rabbit), Crispin Glover (The Knave of Hearts), Stephen Fry (The Cheshire Cat), Christopher Lee (The Jabberwock), Matt Lucas (Tweedledee and Tweedledum), Timothy Spall (The Bloodhound) and Barbara Windsor (The Dormouse).

Three New Images From Alice In Wonderland

Following yesterday’s fantastic trailer, Disney have sent us three new images for Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland.

The images, which can be seen below, feature director Tim Burton and starlett Mia Wasikowska working through a scene, Tweedledum and Tweedledee (played by Brit comedian Matt Lucas) leading Alice through a mushroom forest and of course the villainous Red Queen, played by Burton’s wife, actress Helena Bonham Carter.

Disney has released a new trailer for Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland and you can check it out after the jump.  While the teaser trailer for Alice looked cool, this new trailer is definitely going to wow you with some pretty incredible visuals.  In fact, with this trailer, we’re finally getting a real taste of the movie and in my opinion…it looks like the perfect marriage between story and visuals.  Because if there was ever a place that Tim Burton was meant to bring to life, it’s the magical world of Wonderland.  Also, the way he’s making the film, with a mixture of live action, animation and CGI, I think it’s going to be amazing.  Check out the trailer and judge it for yourself:

Edward Scissorhands is Real ... and He Cuts Hair!

A stylist in Florida offers a wild way to cut hair, Edward Scissorhands-style. Valentino LoSauro told UK newspaper The Telegraph, "I am a pianist as well as a hairdresser and wanted to combine that light fingered touch with my styling. So the 'Clawz' were born as a simple idea to bring a musicality to hair styling. When I cut the hair I use methods I call 'Flight of the Bumblebee' and 'Zap.'" According to him, it took him two years and £150,000 (about $243,557.46 in today's shoddy economic climate) to come up with his zippy creations. (The picture over on the right is just one Claw up close and personal.)

Now, I'm no hairdresser so I don't know if it would be a good idea or not, but I would totally let this guy near my Jewfro with his magical gadgets, which you can read about on the official Clawz website. »

Have you ever studied a pack of plain playing cards? Not very interesting! They’re usually just a bunch of spades, hearts, clubs and diamonds along with some Victorian era people. That is why card makers are constantly printing more interesting decks. Whether it be naked women, your favorite football team or even Lego themed cards, there’s something for most anyone, and now Tim Burton fans included.

The number cards for all suits on this deck are displayed in a slightly twisted fashion. The inherent design of each heart, club, diamond and spade are definitely a perfect cosmetic fit in the design style that Tim Burton brings to the table. 'Dark Shadows' To Shoot Next Fall

It sounds like Dark Shadows is definitely back on schedule, albeit a little more than a year later than originally anticipated.

According to Sci Fi Wire, producer Graham King said the film would be in production by next fall. Producer Richard Zanuk previously said work on Dark Shadows would begin in summer 2009.

The movie adaptation of the classic 1960’s gothic soap opera, which featured vampires, werewolves, ghosts, and other assorted creatures, will be directed by Tim Burton as his post-Alice in Wonderland project. Not surprisingly, Johnny Depp, who teamed with Burton on Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, Sweeney Todd and the upcoming Alice will star as the brooding vampire Barnabas Collins.

Burton is finishing post-production on Alice in Wonderland. As such, King said he is already prepping production on Dark Shadows with screenwriters, to make it easier for Burton to slide into it next year.

Johnny Depp And Tim Burton To Shoot 'Dark Shadows' Next Fall

Earlier this year we asked Tim Burton about his upcoming adaptation of "Dark Shadows," the '60s soap opera with a vampire protagonist and a generally supernatural edge. Before that even, we heard from both Burton and his intended "Shadows" star Johnny Depp that the TV adaptation would shoot next year.

Now we have an even more specific time frame to work with. Speaking to producer Graham King, Sci Fi Wire has learned that production will start on "Shadows" late next year. What, you want to know when? "We're actually going to shoot that film next September/October with Tim Burton and Johnny," he said. Which I'm guessing means that the movie will see a summer or fall 2011 release, presuming all goes as planned.

I don't have much experience with the TV series, but vampires are certainly what's hot right now. And for all of his experience, Burton's never done a proper vampire movie. »

Americans do holidays better than anyone and, dammit, we have the obesity problem to prove it: two-thirds of us are now officially overweight and that figure, like the dial on the bathroom scale, is only going to rise.

One reason for this happens tomorrow: Thanksgiving, which falls smack in between Diabetes Night (aka Halloween) and Obesity Day (aka Christmas.) Imagine having Christmas dinner, twice, less than a month apart. It's not enough that our portions are bigger anyway, we have the whole meal again.

But if there's anything more American than eating an enormous meal twice, it's finding a justification to do so. So while the holiday itself might elicit groans (of indigestion), there are plenty of things this year that are worthy of a third helping of sweet potatoes with marshmallows, »

He had me at Beetlejuice. It was 1988 when I was first introduced to the genius that is Tim Burton. I was working at the BBC at the time, thirteen years before I joined Syfy. I recall feeling entirely blown away by the sheer anarchic imagination and black humor of the film. And being English and a fan of dark, surreal comedy which is, of course, part and parcel to the British psyche, there was a natural appeal to Tim Burton's twisted perspective on the world. Like many Burton fans, I have passionately followed and admired his incredible on-screen work, from Edward Scissorhands and Batman Returns to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Tim Burton Exhibit Opens at MoMa

Tim Burton is lauded as being one of the most creative forces in Hollywood. His films have a distinct style that sets them apart, and characterizes Burton as a stand out director. Now, his work is being moved from the big screen onto the walls of the Museum of Modern Art.

In an exhibit opening Sunday and running through April, MoMa will have on display film memorabilia, movie posters, and drawings by Burton– some going as far back as his childhood. The exhibit will also include a film series showing Burton’s feature and short films, along with movies that influenced him.

This is the largest exhibit MoMa has ever put on that displays a retrospective view of the works of a filmmaker. At a press conference for the exhibit, Burton thanked “everybody that raided my closets” to find the material for the exhibit, and described the process of collecting work, »
