King of New York fans will be disappointed to find out that Abel Ferrara has backed out of directing the action flick Game of Death. The film was supposed to mark the reunion of Ferrara with his King of New York cast member, Wesley Snipes, but for unknown reasons Ferrara has stepped aside. Game of Death focuses on a diplomat.s bodyguard (Snipes) injured during an assassination attempt. After the incident, everyone is taken to the hospital where this bodyguard meets a nurse played by Zoe Bell. Together they try to protect the diplomat from a gang of assassins led by Gary Daniels as a guy named Zander. Movie Hole says Giorgio Serafini will take Ferrara.s place. Scratch that, actually Mh says Georgio Serafini will direct, but I assume they are referring to Italian director Giorgio Serafini. If so, little is known of his work Stateside since his resume »

Have a look at which are coming, and find out how being a screenwriter can get you out of sticky situations.

• I mentioned back in June how, not to be outdone by Tokyo's life-size Gundam, Kobe decided to build a life-size replica of Gigantor (better known there as Tetsujin 28-go). The 60-feet tall statue was finally completed last week, and unlike the life-size Gundam—which has now been dismantled—the life-size Gigantor is a permanent fixture in Kobe's Wakamatsu Park.

Wesley’s jump-kicking his way back into theaters with a new action flick from Abel Ferrara, the man who brought us Bad Lieutenant and King of New York back in the early nineties.
A little birdie over at First Showing told me that Game of Death follows Snipes’ character, a “politician’s bodyguard who must fend off five of the world’s top assassins.” Is anybody else thinking of Ninja Scroll right now and resisting the urge to expect an amazing movie? There’s a lot of room for creating super bad-ass villains here and if these guys are smart, they’ll recognize that a huge draw for the movie could be the creative, deadly specialties of the surely-to-be-thwarted killers.
For those who don’t know, Snipes and the U.S. Government had a falling out.
This guy spends his life playing characters who never back down and then he »

Things haven't been so great for Wesley Snipes post-Blade 3. He appeared in a string of direct-to-video action movies, ran into a bit of tiff with the federal government, and pretty much seemed to fall of the radar. Now it looks like Snipes' luck could be changing for the better: He has a role in Antoine Fuqua's upcoming Brooklyn's Finest, and today we've learned that he's reteaming with Abel Ferrara (who directed Snipes in King of New York) for a new action thriller, Game of Death. If you were expecting Snipes to be climbing an ascending pagoda fighting a variety of martial artists, expect to be disappointed. In this film Snipes will star as a bodyguard who is tasked with protecting a politician from five of the world's best assassins. Now that I've written that out, I could see the film potentially being some sort of spiritual successor to »

Don't call it a comeback for Wesley Snipes and director Abel Ferrara, they've been here for years. Of course, it's been a long time since they've been at the top of their games -- notably in 1990, when they teamed up to deliver the cult hit King of New York. Since then they've chosen different paths. Snipes went on to become a major action star of the 90s (and beyond) with films such as Passenger 57, The Fan and the Blade trilogy. He's been off his game since about 2005 due to some off-camera tax problems. Ferrara, on the other hand, has been off his game for much longer than that. He followed King of New York with several solid efforst over the next four years, including Bad Lieutenent, a not quite awesome horror remake Bodysnatchers and the Harvel Keitel and Madonna led pic Dangerous Game. But he's been far from the spotlight ever since. Perhaps »

Wesley Snipes will join Bad Lieutenant director Abel Ferrara for Game of Death, a film which likely has nothing at all to do with the Bruce Lee film of the same name.
Snipes, who seemed to be at a high a few years ago with a starring role in Blade Trinity, was last seen in the direct to video Art of War II: Betrayal. His career has been rocked by a three-year prison sentence for tax evasion, and he needs a film to get him back on track. Since the details regarding Game of Death’s plot are sparse, it’s hard to tell if this is the one that’ll do the trick. Snipes will simply play “a politician’s bodyguard who must fend off five of the world’s top assassins.”

Despite tax troubles and a stint mostly doing straight-to-video action guff, Wesley Snipes can still count on some contacts - like Abel Ferrara. The director has cast Snipes in his new thriller Game Of Death, which sees the pair working together for the first time since 1990's King Of New York. In the film, Snipes will play a politician's bodyguard, who must stop five of the world's best assassins from taking out his boss. Zoe Bell and Robert Davi are also in the cast and Ferrara started shooting this week in...

Wesley Snipes might be the only actor to make the jump from vampire hunting to tax evasion. While Snipes has certainly had his fair share of great performances, his spotlight gradually faded. Let's face it, an actor has a real problem when there's an entire section on his Wikipedia page dedicated to "legal problems." But everyone loves a comeback, and Snipes is attempting to make the leap from straight-to-dvd releases back to theatrically released films as Variety reports he's teaming with director Abel Ferrera (who last worked with Snipes on the 1990 cult film King of New York) for the action-thriller Game of Death. This particular game follows "a politician's bodyguard [Snipes] who must fend off five of the world's top assassins." Sounds like it would be more successful as a video game, but it'll probably have lots of good action. The script is the first to be produced from writer »

Apparently Wesley Snipes is still an actor. You could have fooled me. I.m one of those dudes that thinks he should.ve stuck with what he was good at and stayed on board for all of the Major League sequels. He just made so much sense as Willie Mays Hayes. Yeah, sure, the Blade movies were okay, but it.s the playoffs, and the Major League franchise deserves some credit. Unfortunately, Snipes will not be a baseball player in his next movie role. Instead, according to Variety, he.ll be teaming back up with director Abel Ferrara, the guy who directed Snipes in King of New York, to star in Game of Death. The film has Snipes playing a politician.s bodyguard, who must protect his client from five of the world.s top assassins. No, seriously. That.s the plot. The movie will co-star Zoe Bell and Robert »

Apparently Abel Ferrara has a long overdue house payment to make, because he’s currently directing a (sure to be direct-to-dvd) action movie starring Wesley Snipes called “Game of Death”. The film has Snipes playing a politician’s bodyguard who discovers the truth behind his mission, even as he tries to to stop the world’s top five assassins from killing his boss. I’ll admit that I’m not an expert on Abel Ferrara or his filmography, but aside from “King of New York” in 1990 (which also co-starred Snipes as a cop trying to bring down Christopher Walken’s drug dealing kingpin), I don’t think he’s actually ever directed a straight-up action movie like this before. Nicolas Chartier of Voltage Pictures calls “Game of Death” a “very edgy and exciting action film”, but we’ll just have to see if it diverts significantly, if any, from Snipes’ recent spate of bland, »

Now, thanks to Bloody-Disgusting, we have the official plot synopsis and a low-res promo poster for the film. Check out both below. While Nas and Jay-z battle for the "King Of New York" throne, Jadakiss has quietly become the undisputed prince.
Play a Jadakiss track at your local house party or favorite watering hole, and New Yorkers resoundingly take notice.
The road to the top for Kiss started at age 17, when he gained aclaim for his battle-rap skills at the "Jack the Rapper Competition" in Florida. Dee and Wah of the Ruff Ryders (then a management company) took notice. Kiss began battling outside the Ruff Ryders' studio where artists like Dmx made their first hits.
In 1994, Jadakiss, Sheek Louch and Styles P formed a group they called the Lox and were signed to Bad Boy Records. The Lox formed a close relationship with deceased rap legend Biggie Smalls, and got their first multi-platinum single with "We'll Always Love Big Poppa", a tribute to B.I.G.
