• Continuity: The medal strips on the producer's uniform.
  
  
• Continuity: The hand that Chet uses to stop the bell ringing.
  
  
• Continuity: The corpses of Detective Mastrionotti and Detective Deutsch disappear from the hallway when Barton walks out of his room after talking with Charlie.
  
  

• Continuity: Charlie's leaking ear changes sides.
  
  
• Factual errors: Tony Shalhoub's name is spelt Tony Shaloub in the opening credits.
  
  
• Continuity: Barton's hotel room is on the sixth floor, but when he takes the elevator down to the lobby to see the two detectives, the elevator passes more than six floors.
  
  
• Continuity: When Audrey visits Barton at his hotel room, she sits on the bed and puts her hat on the bed to her left and leaves it there. When Barton sits down beside her, the hat is gone.
  
  
• Continuity: When Charlie comes out of the elevator, the two detectives have just come out of Barton's room, and only a little way down the corridor. Charlie chases the second cop a good way down the corridor, but when he walks up to the fallen cop, he's still only at the door to Barton's room - we can see him walk past the door from Barton's POV.
  
  
• Continuity: After Barton tacks up the first strip of wallpaper, he smoothes out the second strip and, in close-up, we see that the first thumbtack is not there.
  
  
• Continuity: When Charlie pulls the bedframe apart, the metal ball that drops to the floor has a metal rod through the center. When it hits the floor, the rod is nowhere to be seen.
  
  
• Factual errors: During final scene with Colonel Lipnik, awards on uniform were not accurate for date of movie. Most notable were the Parachutist Badge (it appears to be a Master Parachutist Badge, which was not authorized for use until 1949) and the Combat Infantryman's Badge (which was not authorized until 1943).
  
  
• Continuity: In one of the final shots of Colonel Lipnik in uniform, the bottom two rows of his ribbons have come lose and are hanging from one side. In the last shot, his ribbons have been fixed.
  
  
• Revealing mistakes: When Charlie is racing towards the cops followed by fire, you can see the lines of flammable material sprayed on the walls. The flame follows them exactly.
  
  
• Continuity: When Barton meets Charlie for the first time, the fan behind him on the desk changes speeds. The strips attached to the fan are first slack, then blowing out, then slack again.
