Marvel Legend To Cameo In ‘Thor’

7 December 2009 12:08 PM, PST | FilmShaft.com | See recent FilmShaft.com news »

It’s as predictable as the tides: comic book master Stan Lee will make a cameo appearance in Kenneth Branagh’s Thor. Announced via Twitter, Lee wrote: “Kenneth Branagh (of course I call him “Ken!”) said my cameo’s set for the upcoming Thor movie. –To him, it’s a cameo, to me– it’s a Role!”

Lee has been in every Marvel film this past decade, so it’s no great shock to hear this. Branagh, however, is a bizarre choice for a Marvel comic adaptation. The Shakespearean actor and director will no doubt bring a deeper texture to the drama that, perhaps, others might not have been able too.

Branagh’s work away from Shakespeare has a ropey history. Frankenstein was almost-too faithful to the original text, and who remembers Dead Again? Marvel are taking a huge gamble, no matter how talented the man is. It’s always »

Rapped And Tagged: Examining the Annual Devilz Nite

16 November 2009 12:41 AM, PST | Fangoria | See recent Fangoria news »

For the unaware, www.horrorcore.com is one of the largest outlets of the horrorcore/wicked shit musical genres the online market has to offer. For nearly a decade the site has played host to some of the most promising horrorcore veterans and prospects alike. Horrorcore powerhouses such as Mars, Menacide, Psycho Jesus, Kid Crusher, Q-Strange, and Insane Poetry have all been known to frequent the website, as well as quite a few of those future shiners like J.Hexx, bOb e. NiTe, and CrAkD (to name a few).

Well, back in 2003, the aforementioned Menacide launched what would become an annual horrorcore.com tradition; each Halloween a collection of the best holiday themed music the site has to offer would be compiled into one mass collection and released under the Devilz Nite moniker. Over the years some excellent work has graced the Devilz Nite compilations; terrific appearances from the likes of Sinister X, »

Mushroomhead to debut new track from Saw VI

25 September 2009 3:38 PM, PDT | Fangoria | See recent Fangoria news »

Cleveland, Ohio’s pioneering rock vaudeville act Mushroomhead fresh off a successful summer trek with Hed(pe) and Straight Line Stitch, as well as dates on Mayhem Festival resume recording at their Filthy Hands Studio. Their 7th studio album will be completed this fall for a 2010 release via Megaforce/Sony Music.  Produced by co-founding member and drummer Steve “Skinny” Felton, the band promises this will be their most ferocious and ruthless sound to date! The band recently released their “Vol. 2” DVD last year which debut at #7 in Billboard’s “Top Music Videos” chart.

In the meantime the band will debut a new song called “Your Soul Is Mine” to be released on the upcoming Saw VI movie soundtrack available everywhere on October 20.  Back for the sixth installment of the Saw horror series this Halloween (in theaters October 23), moviegoers will once again cringe in their seats as blood, guts and body parts are up for grabs. »

Final lineup for the Saw VI Soundtrack revealed!

11 September 2009 7:06 AM, PDT | Fangoria | See recent Fangoria news »

"Hello... I want to play a game," those are the immortal words Saw's sadistic purveyor of self-imposed twisted justice Jigsaw utters to his victims as they come to. And if you hear those words you're soon to find yourself in a world of hurt. Back for the sixth installment of the Saw horror series this Halloween (in theaters October 23), moviegoers will once again cringe in their seats as blood, guts and body parts are up for grabs.

In Saw VI, Special Agent Strahm is dead, and Detective Hoffman has emerged as the unchallenged successor to Jigsaw's legacy. However, when the FBI draws closer to Hoffman, he is forced to set a game into motion, and Jigsaw's grand scheme is finally understood.

What started out as a "little" indie horror movie back in 2004 has turned into a juggernaut go-for-the-throat franchise so gruesome you want to turn away, yet so compelling you just can't. »

Nazis on the Moon in Iron Sky

13 May 2009 5:58 AM, PDT | Fangoria | See recent Fangoria news »

About a half hour ago a press release hit my email box from Finnish production company, Blind Spot Pictures. On the surface the project they're touting looked to be the next installment of the growing Nazi Horror/Nazi Zombie trend. In reality, it's much more impressive. Iron Sky is a cross-genre project with the tagline "In 1945 the Nazis fled to the moon. In 2018 they are coming back!" Sounds a tad silly (in a good way) and for a second my Starlog sensor went off and I almost posted this there. Once you see the video below, I think you'll understand why I felt that not sharing this on Fango would be a disservice to all that rocks. It's like the first time that Worst Case Scenario teaser hit the web - only better.

What initially hooked me was the "motion poster" that appears on the splash page for their 2009 Cannes »
