Roy Disney's death today was big news in Twitter-Wood, where a lot of folks have been affected by his work and commitment to animation over the course of their careers. It's certainly appropriate that "Toy Story 3" director Lee Unkrich was among the first to post his condolences.
And speaking of animation, Danny DeVito made it onto the guest list for the "Avatar" premiere tonight, and took a picture of his excitable foot to prove it. His "Twins" co-star Arnold Schwarzenegger posted
pic, too, from over in Copenhagen where he's meeting with folks for the U.N. Climate Summit. From Splash Page: Last month, we gave you a peek inside the Tim Burton exhibit at New York City's Museum Of Modern Art that included some never-before-seen art from his planned "Superman Lives" movie. While the exhibit is running through April 2010, here's something you won't be able to see there when you check it out yourself: Danny DeVito reflecting on his time as The Penguin in Burton's 1992 film "Batman Returns."
"I loved being with [Burton] on the set. We love hanging out," DeVito told MTV News during the red carpet opening of the exhibit. "I love to watch where he's going, what he's trying, all the different things he does."

Last month, we gave you a peek inside the Tim Burton exhibit at New York City's Museum Of Modern Art that included some never-before-seen art from his planned "Superman Lives" movie. While the exhibit is running through April 2010, here's something you won't be able to see there when you check it out yourself: Danny DeVito reflecting on his time as The Penguin in Burton's 1992 film "Batman Returns."

Remembering his time in the sequel to 1990's "Batman," DeVito indicated that it was one of the few times it was actually good to be the actor forced to don the heavy makeup and costume.

Michael Keaton has a valuable reminder of his time as Batman - he kept the superhero's costume when filming wrapped.
The actor, who played the Caped Crusader in 1989's Batman and 1992's Batman Returns, confesses he took two of the winged outfits as a memento - but is terrified they will be ruined before they are worth selling.
He says, "I did (take) two of them. One is in storage. Sometimes I think, I know I'm going to go there and rats will have eaten it and I am going to go 'No!'. They are going to be worth a lot of money."

It's always great to see "Twilight" cast members getting along off-screen, and there were a couple of shout-outs bouncing around the Twitter-Wood feed today. Edi Gathegi wished Christian Serratos could be with him on a plane ride, but he had to settle for her advice on candy shenanigans. Elsewhere, Tinsel Korey sought Chaske Spencer's glitter skills in some Advent calendar construction.
In non-"Twilight" tweets "I'm on a Boat" seems to be a popular pick among the Grammy nominations this year, and Seth Meyers was among the first to back it. Michael McKean, meanwhile, will be pulling for Bela Fleck and Loudon Wainwright. As with 2000 and 2001, I'm reprinting my original top ten lists and commentary. If I've got something new to say, it'll be in red below.
Please note: This list was based on NYC release dates in the year 2002. Some movies are listed as different years at the IMDb based on when they were produced or released in their home country or in La or whatnot.
Undervalued: Morvern Callar, Roger Dodger, About a Boy, White Oleander, Panic Room and Kissing Jessica Stein Top 10 Runners Up: Chicago, Monsoon Wedding, Punch Drunk Love and Spirited Away I still am glad I championed most of these movies though I am sad that some of them aren't in the top ten... particularly Morvern, Monsoon and the Miyazaki. The MMMs. Though I'm not sure I'd know what to remove to make room for them.

He had me at Beetlejuice. It was 1988 when I was first introduced to the genius that is Tim Burton. I was working at the BBC at the time, thirteen years before I joined Syfy. I recall feeling entirely blown away by the sheer anarchic imagination and black humor of the film. And being English and a fan of dark, surreal comedy which is, of course, part and parcel to the British psyche, there was a natural appeal to Tim Burton's twisted perspective on the world.
Like many Burton fans, I have passionately followed and admired his incredible on-screen work, from Edward Scissorhands and Batman Returns to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. So I was thrilled when Syfy learned of the opportunity to support Tim Burton in an extraordinary exhibition at MoMA. ...

Oprah's announcement that her show may end its 25-season run in 2011 was almost enough to unseat "New Moon" as the top trending topic of the Twitter-Wood feed today. Kevin Nealon and Wil Wheaton both had a opinions on her possible bow out of syndication, while Eli Roth and Kevin Smith helped keep "Twilight" alive in Twitter conversation.
Two big names celebrated birthdays last night in very public fashion, as P. Diddy entertained a few folks on my follow list and Larry King got a little rowdy in my pick for Twitter Pic of the Day. Today is the 109th anniversary of one Chester Gould the creator of Dick Tracy. Every time Dick Tracy (1990) comes up, I think "you should watch that movie again!" but I never do. I think I'm still mad that Warren Beatty kept cutting away from Madonna's "More" performance... which should've easily been one of the best movie musical numbers of the 90s (sigh). Otherwise I quite like the movie
Trivia Alert! Dick Tracy is one of Oscar's two favorite comic book movies along with The Dark Knight (2008). Their Oscar track was very similar. Dick Tracy had 7 nominations and 3 wins. The Dark Knight had 8 nominations and 2 wins and in mostly the same categories, too.

He used to be Beetlejuice and Batman. Now Michael Keaton is a first-time director and a contented man
Michael Keaton is standing in the middle of his London hotel room, transfixed by the widescreen television before him. He holds out the remote control as if he's offering a gift to the gods. The volume goes up, the volume goes down. The image freezes, then fast-forwards. The urge to wrest the handset from him and take charge is overwhelming, and lasts at least until you remember the fabled Keaton temper. ("I'm a good thrower," he once said. "And kicker.") But his doddery behaviour in the face of technology is endearing. Eventually, he hits on the scene he was hunting for. "Wait, you gotta see this," he says breathlessly. "Listen, you hear that song? Oh, man. That's the one we wanted to use but it was too expensive."

It comes as no surprise that supporting cast members in "New Moon" would try to splinter off their own factions in the endless "Team Edward vs. Team Jacob" debate, but it looks like BooBoo Stewart's got at least one backer for Team Seth, judging from his TwitPic upload today. Tinsel Korey, meanwhile, remains firmly behind Team Jacob.
In non-"Twilight" posting today, Danny DeVito had a nice showing for his birthday last night, even if his picture wasn't high enough quality to make Twitter Pic of the Day. Neil Patrick Harris posted a new shot from the "How I Met Your Mother Set" and David Wain contributed a courtside view from the Lakers game. The film was dark in more than just name, pushing its rating to the limit and leading to record complaints about film censors being too lenient with its certificate.

The cats at Film Experience got to chatting with director Amy Heckerling ( Fast Times at Ridgemont High ) who recently announced she'll be helming the blooodsucker comedy Vamps with star Krysten Ritter.
Heckerling offered the site during their breezy conversation, "I hope I get [Michelle] Pfeiffer for it." Which could imply that she's courting the actress for a role.
The director previously worked with Pfeiffer on I Could Never Be Your Woman . Principal photography is set to begin in March 2010 for Parlay Films. It'd be great to see Pfeiffer - who has starred in Wolf , Batman Returns and The Witches of Eastwick - don a pair of fangs.

New Yorkers get a lucky break in two weeks. Starting November 22 and continuing through to the end of April 2010, a career retrospecting Tim Burton exhibit will live at New York's Museum of Modern Art. The exhibit will consist of sketches, paintings, storyboards, puppets, props, costumes and moving image galleries from Burton projects known and unknown. Fans won't want to miss such a rare opportunity to look closely at the legendary filmmaker's process as brings his out-of-this-world ideas together.
For shame if you don't know who Burton is. He's behind an incredible number of bona fide modern classics: "Edward Scissorhands," "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure," "Beetlejuice," "Batman" & "Batman Returns"... a lot of noteworthy stuff. You remember the VHS cover: a zombie, clawing its way out of a TV set. And that title? Totally 80’s, totally in blue neon with drippy, gruesome, haunted house lettering: The Video Dead, my friends. Heck it used to be on USA every Saturday growing up, hawked by Rhonda Shear or Commander USA. Well, as you know, it’s not on DVD ... yet.
Cut to: Mr. Chris MacGibbon — ghoul about town, trying to do the right thing, giving us another shot of 80’s zombies, finally. I had the pleasure of throwing a few questions Chris’ way and if we all play our cards right, we’ll be slipping The Video Dead right next to our copies of Humaniods From the Deep. Why? Now that Joss Whedon's "Dollhouse" has been cancelled on Fox, expect to see a lot more more tweets over the next few days from the comics Twitterverse. Paul Cornell was among those mourning the show's loss today and had some advice for Whedon.
Matt Fraction, meanwhile, offered some advice to CNN after learning that Lou Dobbs would be leaving his show on the network, and Mitch Breitweiser spoke up about artists being asked to work for free. This morning's Daily TwitPic is a little bit deep cut. You should know who Danny DeVito is. Even if you're not old enough to remember comedy classics like "Twins," "Ruthless People" or "Batman Returns" (he was The Penguin!), not to mention the hit TV series "Taxi," he's still sitting in the public eye thanks to the success of FX series "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia." It isn't too sunny in Philly this morning though. Go Yanks!
But I digress. Today's Daily TwitPic sees DeVito sitting down for a photo op with an old friend, perennial "that guy" actor Tracey Walter. Seriously, you've seen him before. Walter actually beat DeVito to the "Batman" franchise, playing The Joker's top henchman in the first movie, directed by Tim Burton. He has appeared with DeVito in a number of films though, including the awesome, ridiculously underrated dark comedy "Death to Smoochy."

Cow films appear to be the official successor to the unseen prequels tag that was trending on Twitter earlier this week. Both Jon Favreau and Steve Agee made contributions today, while John August offered some criticism of ABC's new "V" series and Brian Lynch commemorated the 40th birthday of "Sesame Street."
In the "Twilight" neighborhood of Twitter-Wood, meanwhile, Peter Facinelli discussed an accidental oversleeping incident that resulted in a late arrival on-set. You’ve heard it. You might not think that you’ve heard it, but you have, countless times in fact. A piercing, despair-ridden wail so aurally disturbing that you instinctively glance up, even if you weren’t watching, to try to glimpse what unspeakable horror just befall the character whose demise it was assigned to signify.
Though named for its first on screen use, the 1953 film Charge at Feather River where a character named Private Wilhelm takes an arrow to the leg and screams in agony, the origin of the scream dates back two years previously. The scream was originally recorded for the 1951 film Distant Drums with Gary Cooper and slated as “man being bitten by alligator” but was never used. A post-production sound effects actor, who some believe to be none other than Sheb Wooley of “Purple People Eater” fame, made several attempts that the supervisor deemed unsatisfactory. The
