Cow Films, 'V' On ABC And Sesame Street In Today's Twitter-Wood

4 November 2009 4:00 PM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Cow films appear to be the official successor to the unseen prequels tag that was trending on Twitter earlier this week. Both Jon Favreau and Steve Agee made contributions today, while John August offered some criticism of ABC's new "V" series and Brian Lynch commemorated the 40th birthday of "Sesame Street."

In the "Twilight" neighborhood of Twitter-Wood, meanwhile, Peter Facinelli discussed an accidental oversleeping incident that resulted in a late arrival on-set. David Slade responded by thanking him for not ever being late during "Eclipse." Check out all of those tweets after the jump. It's all in the Twitter-Wood report for November 4, 2009.

5 Great Wilhelm Screams

31 October 2009 3:47 PM, PDT | JustPressPlay.net | See recent JustPressPlay news »

You’ve heard it. You might not think that you’ve heard it, but you have, countless times in fact. A piercing, despair-ridden wail so aurally disturbing that you instinctively glance up, even if you weren’t watching, to try to glimpse what unspeakable horror just befall the character whose demise it was assigned to signify.

Though named for its first on screen use, the 1953 film Charge at Feather River where a character named Private Wilhelm takes an arrow to the leg and screams in agony, the origin of the scream dates back two years previously. The scream was originally recorded for the 1951 film Distant Drums with Gary Cooper and slated as “man being bitten by alligator” but was never used. A post-production sound effects actor, who some believe to be none other than Sheb Wooley of “Purple People Eater” fame, made several attempts that the supervisor deemed unsatisfactory. The »

'Eclipse' Actress' Site Gets Hacked, U2 And More Halloween Costumes In Today's Twitter-Wood

26 October 2009 3:30 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

"Eclipse" actress Jodelle Ferland claims that hackers descended on her website, which would explain the disarray currently on display if you visit Jodelle-Ferland.net. Her "Twilight" series costar Ashley Greene seemed to be having a much better weekend, however, taking in the U2 concert at the Rose Bowl Sunday night. Greene was joined by Danny DeVito, Demi Moore, and a host of others who tweeted pictures from the night.

Elsewhere, Tom Felton and Emmy Rossum are still undecided on their Halloween costumes, but Felton has officially nixed a Dalmation outfit and Rossum may be warming up to Pippi Longstocking. Check out what they had to say after the jump along with Edward Norton doing yoga, Billy Burke's "Harry Potter" shout-out and Stephen Fry's new secret video game role. It's all in the Twitter-Wood report for October 26, 2009.

What are Your Favorite Winter Holiday Themed Movies?

26 October 2009 2:39 AM, PDT | Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news »

I wasn't quite sure how to properly word the headline for this post considering I want to make sure you understand I am talking about the season pretty much running from Thanksgiving to Christmas, but I also want to make sure you know the film itself doesn't have to necessarily be about the holidays.

Take Die Hard for instance, it's set during Christmas time, but it isn't a Christmas film. However, it fits in with what I am looking for here. Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, Eyes Wide Shut, Fanny and Alexander, Batman Returns, Gremlins, The Thin Man and When Harry Met Sally are other examples. Hell, I would even say Rocky IV and Lethal Weapon count. As a matter of fact, I would say the non-Christmas, Christmas movies are the more interesting additions. How about The Shining or even Psycho?

Then, of course, I personally love films such as Love, »

Pee Wee Herman And An Open Makeout Invitation From Simon Pegg In Today's Twitter-Wood

23 September 2009 3:00 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

It was an epic day of awkward headshots in the Twitter-Wood feed today, so go click on the photo links knowing full well that you are about to see some rare sights. Pee Wee Herman, Paul Reubens' recently revived alter-ego earned top honors for a shot posted by Andy Milonakis, but Alyson Hannigan, Danny DeVito and Ice-t all jumped in the running too.

None of them, however, openly invited New Yorkers to walk up to them on the street and receive a kiss, though, which is cannot be said of Simon Pegg. You can find a link to that warm proposition along with Rachelle Lefevre's thoughts on "The Biggest Loser" and Rose McGowan's take on getting beat up. There's all in the mix for the September 23 Twitter-Wood report.

'Eclipse' Problems On Set, 'New Moon' And Coconuts In Today's Twitter Wood

11 September 2009 5:00 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

"Twilight" frustrations bubbled up in the Twitter-Wood feed today, though I'm not sure what some of them were about precisely. David Slade reiterated his irritation at planes flying over his "Eclipse" set, which may have been compounded by problems involving goats. Meanwhile, Christian Serratos cryptically sounded off with her desire to see "New Moon," which apparently she is not allowed to do quite yet.

Elsewhere, photos from Eliza Dushku and Emmy Rossum showed up with flannel shirt thoughts and a mysterious coconut left in the back of a taxi cab. You really don't know where that's been, Emmy. (Be safe.) Sarah Silverman wins the Twitter Pic of the Day award, though. Click on down, and I think you'll see why. It's in the Twitter-Wood report for September 11, 2009.

Ellen DeGeneres, 'Sorority Row' And Ron Jeremy In Today's Twitter-Wood

10 September 2009 3:00 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Dane Cook has a proposal today for Ellen DeGeneres' replacement on "Ellen," now that she's going to be busy judging on "American Idol." Check it out, and see what you think. Cook leads the Twitter-Wood playlist today, right ahead of "Sorority Row" star Leah Pipes and Selena Gomez, who misses Freddie Prinze Jr.'s TV show "Freddie."

Eddie Izzard, Ice-t and previously featured photo subject Steve Agee all entered the running for the Twitter Pic of the Day today -- and though only one could come out on top, I've ranked them below, eventually giving Izzard the break because, well, he's run 39 marathons now, and that's worth acknowledgement. After all, how many have you run lately? Congrats to him, and congrats to you for getting to read the Twitter-Wood report for September 10, 2009.

Burton: 'Brando was not for Batman role'

Tim Burton has dismissed suggestions that late actor Marlon Brando was lined up to portray a Batman villain. The Alice in Wonderland director was asked by an MTV interviewer about an internet rumour that Brando was to feature as The Penguin in 1992 film Batman Returns. According to IMDb, the list of potential candidates included the The Godfather star, Christopher Lloyd, John Candy, Dustin Hoffman and Bob Hoskins. "No. (more) »

Was Marlon Brando Almost The Penguin in Batman Returns?

3 September 2009 8:00 AM, PDT | WorstPreviews.com | See recent Worst Previews news »

According to IMDb, "Batman Returns" director Tim Burton was considering Marlon Brando, John Candy, Dustin Hoffman, Bob Hoskins and Christopher Lloyd for the role of The Penguin. It eventually went to Danny DeVito. MTV News has now sat down with Burton, who is promoting the animated "9" film, and asked him Warner Bros ever truly considered Brando for The Penguin. "No," said Burton, laughing about the idea of a studio accepting one of his wacky casting choices. "I also wanted Sammy Davis Jr. to play Beetlejuice," Burton continued. "So sometimes my ideas don't go down so well with the studios. But hey, you try." »

Did Marlon Brando Almost Play The Penguin In 'Batman Returns'? Not Exactly, Says Tim Burton.

2 September 2009 3:23 PM, PDT | MTV Splash Page | See recent MTV Splash Page news »

A few weeks ago, Danny DeVito shared some frank thoughts about the evolution of the "Batman" film franchise in the years since he played The Penguin in 1992's "Batman Returns." We love playing the "What If?" game, so when we had the chance to sit down with Tim Burton, the director of that film (as well as 1989's "Batman"), we had to ask him about the wide range of actors he was rumored to have considered before settling on DeVito.

Among the potential Oswald Cobblepots (according to IMDb) were John Candy, Dustin Hoffman, Bob Hoskins, Christopher Lloyd and—our favorite "What If?" possibility—Marlon Brando. So, we had to ask Burton, was Brando ever really in the mix for the role?

"No," laughed Burton. "I also wanted Sammy Davis Jr. to play Beetlejuice, so... sometimes my ideas don't go down so well with the studios. But hey, you try."

Christian Bale voted best Batman

1 September 2009 7:39 AM, PDT | Boxwish.com | See recent BoxWish news »

Over the years a generous smattering of actors have donned the cape and nabbed the sidekick to play arguably the most dark and suave of all the comic superheroes, yes folks, we’re talking about the Rolls Royce of spandex-clad action-men, Batman. And while all little boys (and many men we expect) day-dream of stepping into the bat shoes of this oh-so-sexy dark knight there are only a few who will ever grace the screen as the mysterious man-rodent, and even fewer who can garner the title of being the “best batman”. Well, a public opinion poll that closed yesterday can unmask the identity of that very actor, and we can tell you now that it’s none other than the latest and perhaps most critically-applauded of all Bruce Waynes, Christian Bale.

The poll conducted at MTV’s Splash Page gave readers the chance to vote for their favourite of »

The Best Superhero Movie of All Time Tournament! Round #8!

27 August 2009 8:03 PM, PDT | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

The first big battles are done! Here's how the last round went down: Richard Donner's Superman smacked down Tim Burton's Batman Returns! Spider-Man 2 made easy work of Hellboy 2! The Dark Knight obliterated the 1989 Batman! (I'll say.) And in a wonderfully strange semi-upset, Pixar's The Incredibles finished off those angst-ridden Watchmen! Congrats to those winners, and let's move on...

Is Christopher Nolan ready to start work on Batman 3?

19 August 2009 4:11 PM, PDT | The Geek Files | See recent The Geek Files news »

Director Christopher Nolan could be about to switch on the bat signal for the hotly-anticipated follow-up to blockbuster The Dark Knight.

Or at least, that's what film fans and movie bloggers are hoping in the latest piece of speculation (and wishful thinking).

The source for all this is a report by CineFOOLS that revealed Nolan is no longer directing the proposed big-screen remake of 60s TV series The Prisoner.

The film's producer Barry Mendel told the site Nolan had "dropped out" (He added that the Prisoner project was still going ahead).

For Batfans, Nolan's departure is being seen as a sign that the director is getting ready to make Batman 3. Is this true? Maybe, or maybe not - take your pick, until we have a proper announcement.

We've yet to hear anything concrete from Warner Bros or Christopher Nolan regarding official movement on a further Batman movie. In the meantime, »
