Oh so much turkey will I eat! With extra dressing and gravy. I will be doing this with my biological family, which, if you consider the other options we have at the Alamo, actually sounds pretty boring. While I’ll be way too full falling asleep staring at the football game that I don’t really care about on my grandparents couch, You can be way too full, falling asleep, staring at the Ut vs A&M football game that you probably Do care about at the Alamo Ritz! Or you can be watching any movie at any of our theaters, because our annual tradition still stands. We’ll be your second »

'Battlestar Galactica' Alumni Link Up in 'The Green Chain'

21 August 2009 11:23 PM, PDT | CinemaSpy | See recent CinemaSpy news »

If you are a fan of Syfy's Battlestar Galactica, you probably know that some scenes of the series were filmed in and around the extensive forests of western British Columbia. What you may not realise, however, is that two of the show's stars - Tricia Helfer (Number Six) and Tahmoh Penikett ('Helo') - have lent their talents to a new indie docu-drama that is intended to raise awareness of issues associated with cutting down some of these forests.

The film, called The Green Chain, was written, directed and co-produced by Vancouver-born Mark Leiren-Young. His previous credits include scripts for episodes of the series The Collector, Blood Ties and Psi Factor. He has also written a book, 'Never Shoot a Stampede Queen', articles for 'Time Magazine', 'Maclean's' and 'The Utne Reader', and stage plays.

True to his roots, Leiren-Young focuses The Green Chain on the debate in British Columbia, but it »

The Taco Bell Pooch and Other Star Critters We'll Miss

23 July 2009 2:22 PM, PDT | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

Alas, yet another Hollywood great has left us. As you've probably already heard, Gidget, the Taco Bell Chihuahua, died Tuesday at the impressive age of 15. No, it wasn't the sauce on the chalupa that did her in—the star canine suffered a massive stroke and had to be euthanized. Aside from mouthing "Yo quiero Taco Bell" from 1997 to 2000, the pooch also appeared in Reno 911 and as Bruiser's mom in the Legally Blonde sequel. Her passing got us to thinking about some of Tinseltown's other dearly departed domesticated critters who've left us in past two decades, like the stars of Air Bud and Free Willy. Here's who we came up with—and let us know who you »

During a day of star-powered speeches and world-class performances at Michael Jackson's public memorial in Los Angeles, Oscar- and Grammy-winning singer and actress Jennifer Hudson appeared at the Staples Center in front of a packed crowd to cover one of Jackson's hits from the 1990s, "Will You Be There."

The track originally appeared on Mj's 1991 Billboard-topping album, Dangerous. The album went platinum seven times and stayed on the chart for 117 straight weeks. The biggest single, "Black or White," went platinum and also hit the top Billboard spot. But "Will You Be There" became most well-known when it appeared on the soundtrack for the 1993 movie "Free Willy," about one boy's struggle to save an orca whale. »

Michael Jackson And 10 Classic Movie Moments That Would Not Exist Without Him

1 July 2009 10:00 AM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Last week’s sad death of Michael Jackson has all of us in the MTV newsroom working overtime these days, for obvious reasons. We already ran a story on Mj’s direct influence in movies and TV including “The Wiz” and “The Simpsons.” What’s even more impressive is the movies he inspired without even appearing in them.

Below are ten classic film moments that would not exist if Michael Jackson never moonwalked across our planet and into out hearts. What’s your favorite?

“Back to the Future” trilogy

In “Back to the Future Part II,” we got a peek at the theme restaurants of 2015 via an order-taking television with a “waiter” hybrid of Mj and Max Headroom. In the trilogy’s final entry, set in the Old West, Marty McFly avoids getting shot by moonwalking away from some evil cowboys.

Who Could Play Michael Jackson in a Big-Screen Biopic?

29 June 2009 3:37 PM, PDT | Fandango | See recent Fandango news »

While it's still early, I'd bet any amount of money that right now producers are tucked away in some Hollywood corner secretly discussing ways to bring Michael Jackson's life story to the big screen. After all, if thousands of Michael Jackson impersonators exist, surely there must be some well-known actor that could convincingly play the King of Pop -- but who?In one post that's more jokey than it is serious, CinemaBlend give their actor picks based on different versions of Michael Jackson. For example, for "Free Willy & Final Years Michael", they say Eddie Murphy or Crispin Glover. The latter is such an odd choice it might even work. For "Thriller Michael", they throw out names like Damon Wayans Jr. and Andre 3000. My favorite, though, has to be...

Michael Jackson (1958-2009)

28 June 2009 9:23 AM, PDT | Atomic Popcorn | See recent Atomic Popcorn news »

1958-2009

I’m not afraid to admit I feel down when a big time celebrity dies yet I don’t go crazy with “Zomg This Is Terrible!” Case in point, I took the deaths of Myron Cope and Richard Wright (who is not dead, just waiting for Gilmour and Waters to get their act together) pretty personally over someone like Isaac Hayes or even Farrah Fawcett (Johnny Bravo was my first introduction to her.) It can get a little silly and then “fans” can come out of nowhere and start throwing tons of accolades on someone they never knew and barely knew anything about.

What transpired around 3:10 Pst on Thursday really stuck with me in a bad kind of way and was only cured with a dose of Michael Mann. I never knew Michael Jackson, but I sure remember growing up and seeing him everywhere on VH1, MTV, and even Free Willy. »

Michael Jackson: Life Tribute (1958-2009)

25 June 2009 11:13 PM, PDT | PopStar | See recent PopStar news »

No matter what your thoughts about Michael Jackson are, no one can deny that the man was a legend in his own right. Dubbed the King of Pop, the iconic Michael Jackson has been entertaining the world since the 1960s. He was a director, a composer, a musician, a singer, a dancer, an actor, a producer, and most importantly, the inspiration to countless millions. The word "triple threat" does not even begin to describe the often misunderstood superstar. On August 29 of this year, Michael would have been celebrating his 51st birthday. Sadly, Michael Jackson passed away today at the age of 50, but he leaves us with a half-century of genuine compassion and good deeds that have helped to shape the world we now live in. The Life of Michael Jackson Michael Jackson was born in Gary, Indiana (an industrialized suburb of Chicago) in 1958. He inherited his musical gene from his father, »

Michael Madsen "Humbled" to Work on Green Lantern: First Flight

9 June 2009 6:38 AM, PDT | Reelzchannel.com | See recent ReelzChannel news »

It's hard to imagine Mr. Black from Quentin Tarantino's violent masterpiece Reservoir Dogs being humbled by the opportunity to voice a character in DC Comics' latest animated feature, Green Lantern: First Flight, but that's exactly the way actor Michael Madsen feels, according to a recent interview. When asked why he wanted to voice Kilowog, an alien member of the Green Lantern Corps and the primary trainer of new Corps recruits, Madsen said:

I liked the idea that Kilowog was forceful, yet has a gentle nature. I'm often thought of as playing villainous characters in movies. Everyone forgets that I was the father in Free Willy -- they only like to remember that I cut off a policeman's ear in Reservoir Dogs. There's me in the middle somewhere and I think that's kind of like Kilowog, He's dangerous, yet he has a heart. That's what attracted me to the part. »

Michael Madsen Explains The Appeal Of Voicing Kilowog In ‘Green Lantern: First Flight’

4 June 2009 10:03 AM, PDT | MTV Splash Page | See recent MTV Splash Page news »

Green Lantern: First Flight” is getting closer and closer to its July release date, meaning that the press machine is rolling along just fine. We’ve already heard from director Lauren Montgomery, screenwriter Alan Burnett and actors Victor Garber and Juliet Landau, and now Michael Madsen is the latest participant to discuss his role as Kilowog in the project.

“I was quite humbled by being asked to play Kilowog in the first place,” Madsen said of joining the “Green Lantern” cast. “I don’t often get asked to voice animated characters, and I’ve always wanted to do something like that — it’s great fun for me.”

For Madsen, part of the appeal of playing the burly alien was Kilowog’s moral middle ground — he’s not a bad guy, but he’s certainly not the friendliest Green Lantern out there.

Turned On, Tuned In: Seven Deadly Sins

27 May 2009 11:38 AM, PDT | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

What's turning me on this week? Being a bad, bad girl. Yes, my column is a few days late, but thank God I'm not. In other news: I've been deliciously sinful this week, and I'm not going to tell you why. Consequently, I've decided to re-name Memorial Day. It is now Memorial Week. Or, better yet, No Memory Week. Or, even more accurately: That Week When I Was At The Beach And "Accidentally" Spilled Cheap Vodka Into My Terminator: Salvation Commemorative Slurpee And Realized I Had Stumbled Onto Something Fantastic, So I Just Kept Doing It. For Days On End. And Now I Can't Remember Whether I Attended A Beach Bonfire Or, Quite Possibly, May Have Thrown An Arson Party. Also I Lost My Free Willy Beach Towel. My hedonistic goal for the beach was to commit each of the Seven Deadly Sins: Vodka, Rum, Tequila, Whiskey, Everclear, Beer, and Wine. Mission »

Will We See 'Constantine 2'?

While talking with producer Lauren Shuler Donner (X-Men, X2, Free Willy) about the possibility of a Magneto-themed sequel to the X-Men franchise, Sci Fi Wire got the scoop on the future of the Constantine franchise. When asked if the sequel to the comic adaptation of Vertigo's "Hellblazer" comic would happen, Donner responded "Looks very good. Thinking about it. Looking for a writer." Cryptic yet hopeful, just like us! The comic follows the trials and tribulations of a con man caught in the supernatural battle between good and evil. There's a lot of good stuff to mine for future flicks, but what do you guys think? Want to see more Constantine flicks? With Keanu? Sans-Keanu? »
