Parents Guide for
The Piano (1993)

A man says he will give a woman her piano that he bought if he can do sexual things to her whilst she plays.

A man lies underneath a woman where he can see her knickers.

A man cleans a piano naked. His genitals are briefly seen.

A man and woman lie down on a bed naked. Full frontal nudity is shown.

A man and woman undress each other. A man is watching through a hole. We see the mans head underneath the woman's skirt. It is implied he is performing oral sex on her. She quietly moans since she is mute. They get into bed. Full frontal nudity is shown on both of them. He climbs on top of her and thrusts. They roll around continuously thrusting.

A man attempts raping a woman. He lifts up her skirt while she struggles. They are in the woods. The scene ends when the woman's daughter calls for her.

A woman gently caresses a man bare buttocks.

A man chops off a woman's finger with an axe. Her daughter is watching and screams when blood splatters in her face. We see the man holding the finger and the woman's bloody stump. She does not react, probably because of shock.

A woman attempts suicide near the end. People push her piano off the boat they are on and the woman puts her foot in the rope which pulls her underwater. She ends up running out of air and struggling but manages to escape.

mild profanity including the lords name taken in vein.

There is some alcohol drinking occasionally.

The scene where a man chops off a woman's finger can be quite frightening.

For young children the sex scenes might be a bit much.
