  • Factual errors: Pauline's diary shows January 1st, 1954 as a Thursday, when it was really a Friday. This goof is even worse when you consider that earlier in the film, a similar shot of the same diary clearly shows the previous year and date (Thursday January 1st, 1953.)

  • Continuity: Pauline's toast reappears in her hand when she is ill in bed.

  • Factual errors: In the end credits, Richard Rodgers' name is misspelled 'Rogers' in the citation for the song "You'll Never Walk Alone".

  • Continuity: The movement of the fish, when Herbert Rieper is singing along to 'Mario Lanza'.

  • Anachronisms: Near the beginning of the film, we see the girls running past a poster of _Creature from the Black Lagoon_ (1954) in 1952. It could be an advance poster, but this seems highly unlikely since "Creature" wasn't released until March 1954 in the States - let alone New Zealand.

  • Continuity: The people walking behind/around Pauline and Juliet, after they exit the screening of _The Third Man (1954)_ change between shots.

  • Crew or equipment visible: When John goes to Pauline's bedroom in the middle of the night, the camera's shadow can be seen to the left of his.

  • Revealing mistakes: Honoria is hanging sheets on the line (or or unpegging them) which still have clear fold marks from the packets they were sold in.

  • Crew or equipment visible: When Honora brings Pauline a tray of breakfast into her room, she gives her the tray then talks to her for a while. You can clearly see the face of a crew member reflected in a window, and then after, you see the reflection of two hands holding the long pole of the boom mic.

  • Anachronisms: In the scene, set in 1952, were Pauline and Juliet sit on a bench during P.E., they're reading 'Biggles of 266' (by Capt. Johns). The book however, was published in 1956.

  • Crew or equipment visible: In art class, Miss Collins says "..and decide who wants to model and who want to draw." After saying this it cuts to a wide shot of the class, and in the windows (right side of the room) you can clearly see, reflected in the window, the whole long pole of the boom mic being slowly lowered.

  • Continuity: In art class you see Mrs. Collins pick up some papers and a wooden tray, then turn and talk to Juliet. The wooden tray Mrs. Collins picks up has a circular carve in one end of it. In one shot she is holding the tray so the carving is facing her, then when the shot changes she is suddenly holding the tray the other way, so the carving is facing away from her.

  • Continuity: When Juliet drops the gem, Pauline then points it out and we see a shot of it. Then we see a second shot of it, as Honora picks it up. Between the two shots the position of leaves and twigs around the gem changes.

  • Continuity: In the final reel, Honora, Juliet and Pauline are seen walking up from the bus terminus near Victoria Park and Honora elects to have a cup of tea before going into the park. When they pass the entrance to the park, the camera follows them as they turn to enter the Victoria Park Tea Rooms, to their right. They pass a small sign standing on the ground, advertising Ice Cream, as they start up the stairs to the tea rooms. In the first reel, at the close of the Prologue, Mrs Ritchie is seen running down the steps leading to the Tea Rooms. When she reaches the bottom of the steps there is no Ice Cream sign.

  • Revealing mistakes: When Steve the boarder arrives with his new Doris Day record, you can tell there is no LP inside, as it bends and crushes as he gets out his board money for Honora.

  • Continuity: When Pauline and Juliet are singing to The Donkey Serenade by Mario Lanza in the woods, they begin to strip off some of their clothes. In one shot after Juliet has been reduced to her bra, we see Pauline begin to remove her vest as she runs from the left to right of the screen. However in the next shot she has it fully on again.

  • Continuity: When Pauline and Juliet are taking a bath together, each girl has separate shots at her respective end of the tub. However, the water levels are noticeably different.
