Is Jean Reno making a comeback? 22 Bullets (L'immortel) suggests so!

5 November 2009 5:55 PM, PST | QuietEarth.us | See recent QuietEarth news »

Oh hello? Is it possible? Could Jean Reno be making a come back? You know, that Jean Reno, the one that once starred in Nikita, The Professional and Ronin before going on to make a load of films so bad they’re not even worth mentioning.

It looks like there is light at the end of a very long and dark tunnel. Reno is signed on to star in 22 Bullets (L'Immortel) an actioner being directed by actor-turned-director Richard Berry (who is no stranger to working with Reno - the two have appeared together in a number of films) and adapted from Franz-Olivier Giesbert's bestselling novel. But why all the excitement? This is why:

After a long, brutal and successful career in the Marseille mafia, Charly Matteï has gone straight. For three years, he has lived a quiet life devoted to his wife and two young children. Then, one winter morning, »

Secret Identity: Who Should Play Catwoman In 'Batman 3'?

5 November 2009 1:02 PM, PST | MTV Splash Page | See recent MTV Splash Page news »

In all likelihood, we're still quite a ways off from any real news regarding a third "Batman" movie from director Christopher Nolan—if he's even returning to the franchise, that is—but that's not stopping us from wondering which Dark Knight villain we should see in the inevitable sequel.

There's no shortage of rogues to choose from, but the one I think is an absolute necessity is Catwoman. Given the state of Bruce Wayne's life after the events of "The Dark Knight," this feels like the perfect time to introduce Selina Kyle—the woman who could either help mend Bruce's fences, or bring all of the walls tumbling down.

If Nolan, David Goyer and the other folks at DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. decide to go the Catwoman route, I think that these five actresses would be great for the role.

Portman's Qualms Over Nude Scenes

5 November 2009 8:11 AM, PST | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Natalie Portman always thinks twice before agreeing to strip off on film - because she fears her naked image will end up on pornography websites.

The actress admits she struggled with the decision to appear nude at the start of her career, and even asked filmmakers to rewrite a scene in her 1999 movie Anywhere But Here because she felt uneasy about baring all.

She tells America's V magazine, "I was figuring out my own sexual identity, likes and dislikes and all that stuff, and it's weird to be doing stuff on film as you're figuring it out. Also being a sexual object when you're a kid is really uncomfortable. After The Professional, I was already getting creepy letters."

Portman insists she would sign up for more film roles that require her to shed her clothes - but she worries the footage will eventually hit the web.

She adds, "It's annoying because online bulls**t interferes with what I want to do artistically. I'm not opposed to sexuality or nudity in a film, but I'm very opposed to pornography sites and you're pretty much giving them material if you do any of that. It's always a big dilemma for me." »

Natalie Portman rocks a pompadour for a stylized shoot in the Winter's V Magazine, which hits newsstands today. She made her directorial debut this year with New York, I Love You, but in this issue Natalie chats about Brothers, her first on-screen sex scene, and how she hopes to maintain her youthful appearance without going under the knife. Here's more: On why she waited to do a sex scene: "I was figuring out my own sexual identity, likes and dislikes and all that stuff, and it's weird to be doing stuff on film as you're figuring it out. Also being a sexual object when you're a kid is really uncomfortable. After The Professional, I was already getting creepy letters. Blu-ray Artwork, Details for 'Léon: The Professional'

21 September 2009 9:21 AM, PDT | GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news »

From what I can gather, the new Blu-ray for Léon: The Professional doesn't offer a whole lot other than the chance to own the movie in the latest format. For some, that will be plenty, however. Sony will release it on November 17th, and the film - which was released under both Léon and The Professional depending on where you lived back in the early 1990s - will retail for $24.95.

Here's the new Blu-ray cover; click on the image to see the whole thing:

DVD Active reports that we'll get theatrical and uncut versions of the movie, plus three featurettes, one about Natalie Portman, one about Jean Reno, and a ten-year retrospective, which is already a little dated. »

Natalie Portman in The Professional Coming to Blu-ray

7 September 2009 7:54 AM, PDT | TheHDRoom | See recent TheHDRoom news »

Luc Besson's 1994 thriller The Professional starring a young Natalie Portman, Jean Reno and Gary Oldman is coming to Blu-ray Disc on November 17. What is unclear at the moment is whether this cut will be the international "Leon" version or the domestic version missing a substantial amount of footage deemed too risqué for American audiences. "Leon" not being included in the title points towards the latter, unfortunately. A handful of supplemental features have been plucked from the deluxe DVD edition; however, just as many appear to have been left off the Blu-ray version. Included on Blu-ray are: 10 Year Retrospective: Cast and Crew Look Back Jean Reno: The Road to Leon Natalie Portman: Starting Young Fact Track Click here to pre-order The Professional on Blu-ray for $17.49 at Amazon.com. »

The Geek Beat: The Professional Experience

San Diego Comic-Con is now over, and I'm writing to you as a broken shell of a fangirl. I'm broke. My feet are numb and bleeding due to my unfortunate shoe selection. I no longer remember what sleep is. I've suffered days of stomachaches due to starvation. I'm not exactly sure what it was all for because I came away having failed in my coverage and failed in my sheer fandom.

For many, Comic-Con is about work. You're either there manning tables, handing out posters or postcards, doing line management, or doing the press circuit. Obviously, that was me this year, and I had cherished hopes of being able to balance fandom and professionalism. I honestly believed that I'd be able to duck down to Hall H and watch Warner Bros. bring out the Jonah Hex trailer, and then somehow run back up to take my place as Lois Lane. »

By Odin's beard! The next big Hollywood caped crusader has finally landed his female love interest. Natalie Portman is the newest castmember to join "Thor," the eagerly anticipated film debut for a five-decades-old Marvel comic character.
