Apollo 13 (1995) More at IMDbPro »

The content of this page was created directly by users and has not been screened or verified by IMDb staff.
Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, that you instead use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

At the party at Jim's house, Jack is demonstrating a procedure done in space with the space crafts, using a beer bottle as "him" and a glass as "her". He slides the beer bottle into the glass, as a sexual reference as well as an educational one. There is one scene where Jack gets a phone call. He comes out of the bathroom where his girlfriend is wearing just a towel.

Violence & Gore

Fred starts to cough up/vomit some undigested food after he and the other leave earth. When we see him again, we see vomit on his helmet (or a clear plastic bag), he then rolls over and continues to vomit/cough

We see a urine stream go into space from the ship

Profanity

Mostly uses of "Goddamn", "Shit", "Bullshit" and blasphemous terms. Nothing stronger than that.

Jim and Marilyn Lovell serve champagne at a party to celebrate the Apollo 11 moon landing.

Ken Mattingly drinks beer while he's watching TV.

Most of the flight controllers smoke cigarettes in the Mission Control room. They also smoke cigars to celebrate the crew's safe return.

Marilyn has a startling dream wherein she pictures her husband and his crew having their ship blown open and the men are sucked out into space. The rest of the film is quite suspensful, and is basically "an extended scene of peril" as the crew of the ship experience an explosion which damages their ship, and the rest of the film is all about whether they will survive and return home. There is a part at the begening where they are in space and a man starts to gag then vomits on the camera(this is a little upsetting for those who are sensitive to that stuff)
