Sex & Nudity

A large number of men expose their buttocks and shake them around as a taunt to their enemy.

Violence & Gore

Braveheart is amazingly violent. It is very bloody, and brutal. Not recommended for people under seventeen. Here are some things that happen in the film.

-Ten or fifteen bloody bodies of men, women, and children hang from nooses in an old barn/outhouse. The camera lingers over their faces.

- A recently deceased man with a gaping chest wound lies dead on a stone table, being washed. This man is shortly after seen in a dream sequence.

- A brief fist fight and struggle breaks out between English soldiers and Scots villagers; a knife is held to a man's throat.

- An attempted rape is thwarted by biting and hitting (with a rock).

- A woman on horseback is struck in the face with a long stick, knocking her semi-unconscious

- A soldier slits a woman's throat with a knife. (The shot is from the back.)

- There a several battle scenes of significant length. These include weapons that pierce, strike, and burn, often with gruesome results. Heads and limbs are lopped off. Men are impaled and shot through with arrows. Horses and riders are thrown and killed. Heads are smashed. Soldiers are trampled. Examples may be worth noting.

- A soldier has his throat slit with a knife, as before, the actual knife attack is very brief

- A man is slain with a long handled axe, although only the swinging axe is shown and no blood or gore is seen.

- A man is killed by a flying sword, after trying to assassinate a figure of importance

- A huge shower of arrows rain upon a small army on a battlefield, arrows hitting legs, torso's, buttock's drawing quite a bit of blood.

- A cavalry charge is stopped by a row of sharpened wooden spears. There are multiple shots of spears plunging into horse's bodies causing bloody wounds. A soldier is struck with an axe through the top of the head, causing a spray of blood.

- Survivors are shown searching among the dead for their loved ones on the field after a battle.

- Boiling oil is poured down onto troops causing the wounded to writhe in agony on the ground. The oil is then lit. Burning men stagger around engulfed in flames.

- A severed head is pulled out of a box in close-up.

- A young man is hurled from a window and falls to his death.

- A man's face is crushed by a ball and chain.

- A bleeding corpse is dropped from a balcony onto a table as men sit for a meal.

- A small unit of soldiers are forced into a stone hut, doused in oil through the straw roof and burned alive. They scream throughout the rest of the scene.

- A man is tortured and killed by stretching, racking, gutting, and beheading.

Profanity

Two uses of the f-word.

About 3 or 4 shits and 5-7 bastards.

People are shown drinking.

Check violence section.
